We know these group rules won’t suit everybody, and that’s okay—there are many other groups where you might feel more at home. To keep things safe, fun, and positive, we have 8 simple rules for people attending our events. Over the past 9 years, we’ve removed 342 people (around 0.8%) for breaking them—so please read carefully! ❌ Not a dating group! – We’re here to make connections, not find soulmates. 📵 No phone numbers, please! – Feel free to swap LinkedIn if both parties are cool with it, but please don’t share or ask for phone numbers. Please don’t add people to WhatsApp or other groups. 🔞 Our events are only open to people aged 18 and older. 📢 Please do not advertise other events or groups. 🚗 We don't allow carpooling due to safety incidents/our public liability insurance not covering motor related accidents. 💰 **No sales pitches! – No selling, no MLMs, no pyramid schemes, no “life-changing mentorship” offers—let’s keep things scam-free.** By joining an event, you agree to follow these rules. Breaking them means removal from all our groups—no exceptions. Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association: They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. Columbus: A Study In Psalms--Psalm 3 and 4
Columbus: A Study In Psalms--Psalm 3 and 4
Most people would agree that a great night's sleep is one of the sweetest experiences in life. Crawling into a wonderfully comfortable bed, drifting off to peaceful slumber, and awaking, feeling refreshed, energized, and ready for the day is a gift everyone welcomes. Unfortunately, nights of perfect sleep and restfulness can seem scarce. Particularly, during the truly hard times in life, good sleep can seem an impossibility. The ancient shepherd-crowned-king, David, knew more than the average person about the challenge of getting a good night's sleep in the midst of being falsely maligned, hunted by enemies, and attacked by those who wanted him dead. He understood the terror of running for his life, and having thousands call for his death. What was his answer? Where could a man on the run find peace? What hope was there for a person in such circumstances? David's hope and peace were found in the One Who he knew was Perfect Truth, Justice, Mercy, and Grace, the God Who had delivered His people before and Who would do so again, and again, and again. Because of God's provision David twice details that even in the midst of his enemies, he would "lie down and sleep, and wake again." Psalm 3 and 4 point us to the hope in which those who follow after the Lord can be confident--that from the Lord comes deliverance.
