**Hello there!** Our Face-to-Face Afternoon Classes are back this June in London! Are you learning English as a second language and looking for an opportunity to practise your English? Interested in **free, in-person classes**? We’ve got you covered! Here at **Stafford House,** our teachers-in-training are gaining hands-on experience by teaching enthusiastic English learners. Each lesson is interactive and fun, with plenty of opportunities to practise speaking, meet other learners, and improve your English along the way. We also offer **free online English classes**. The event is free to join. Please consider contributing contribute £2 toward the cost of the event and for my time. Alternatively, I can provide tuition at a cost of £10 for the session. All welcome! This is a studio based long pose life drawing and painting session. We have a nude model for two hours in a single pose to give you time to complete a finished drawing or to paint the figure. You are welcome to draw or paint in oils or wet media. Our studio is purpose built and well equipped with easels, drawing boards, clips and so on. We sell materials at reasonable prices so if you forget anything we should be able to help you out. We have professional lighting for the models and full spectrum lights for the studio to give you a good experience. ### Make Pots. Meet Gay Men. Make Friends. * This **Friend of Dorothy event** is about bringing **gay men together in real life to connect, create and build genuine friendships**. Join ceramic artist **Lucas Buttchewits** for a relaxed, hands-on introduction to pottery designed for all levels. Whether you’ve never touched clay before or already enjoy creative work, this workshop offers a welcoming space to try something new while meeting people through a shared experience. During the session you’ll explore traditional **hand-building techniques** including pinching, coiling and slab building to create your own tableware or decorative pieces. You’ll also experiment with decorating your work using **leaves and flowers to imprint natural textures**, before adding colour and personality using painted slip. Lucas will guide you through every stage of the process from shaping and decorating your piece to understanding how it will be **glazed and kiln-fired** after the workshop. But like all **Friend of Dorothy events**, this isn’t just about the activity. It’s about creating spaces where **gay men can meet, talk and form real connections outside of apps and bars**. With a small group and a relaxed creative atmosphere, it’s easy to chat, laugh and get to know the people around you. All materials, tools and firings are included, and your favourite piece will be **ready for collection a few weeks later**. Come get creative. Meet new people. **Messy Is Welcome** — *Picnic & Acrylic Flow (First Session)* This is the first relaxed creative picnic in the Leyton / Hackney area — a simple pilot gathering to see how it feels together. Bring a blanket, a drink, and whatever you like. I’ll bring all art materials, including acrylic paints and paper. This is a very informal, go-with-the-flow session. You can paint, draw, make marks, scribbles or shapes — or just sit, observe and relax. Even a single dot on the page counts. **No art skills needed at all.** £5 ticket for materials. (Cash only) If the weather is good, we’ll stay in the park. If not, we’ll move to a nearby pub or indoor space. Optional afterwards: a relaxed walk along the Hackney Wick canal.
