**What is Keepy-Uppy?:**
**Keepy-Uppy is just another term for juggling the soccer ball. Trying to keep the ball in the air using anything but arms. Look up soccer juggling freestylers to get an idea of what’s possible.**
**What is Altinha?:**
**The game of Altinha is simple. Stand in a circle, keep the ball off the ground using any body part except hands/arms, and keep touches to a minimum. Tricks are encouraged, but not required. It’s all about having fun.**
**I used to love juggling as a kid. I enjoyed keeping the ball up more than playing matches. Little did I know there were people in other parts of the world who loved it as much as I did. SMH…**
**Who are ”You”?:**
**• 20+ years old**
**• are NOT a jerk at your core**
**• Soccer enthusiast**
**• Love juggling.. or want to love juggling**
**• Seeking a fun way to exercise without even thinking about it**
**• Casual, chill, inclusive, collaboratively spirited; minded 🤙**
**What you’ll need:**
**Feel free to bring a ball. I will have at least two already. And don’t over think anything else. If you wanna be bear foot, cool. If you wanna wear running shoes, cool. Cleats, cool too. Just be comfortable. I’ll likely be wearing barefoot flats and obviously weather appropriate clothes. And don’t forget to bring some water with you.**
**Experience level:**
**I’m rusty, but I can still land a few tricks!**
***Your experience level doesn’t matter as long as you are interested in improving your touches on the ball by having fun.***
**I want this to be open to those with silky touches as well as those who could use a little guidance, and everything in between.**
**I’m decent at keeping the ball up, but I** **definitely definitely** **have room for improvement.**
**Other info:**
**If there is a large group we can split up and shift partners around as we go so that everyone gets a chance to meet/ play with everyone else.**
**I’ve never tried to organize anything like this so bear with me! I’m a huge introvert who’s rekindled an old passion in juggling. But I can’t find any groups that focus on juggling. All the groups I see are about pick-up matches. So this is pretty much an experiment— seeing if anyone else would enjoy a weekend game of casual Keepy-Uppy/ Altinha! So don’t RSVP unless you’re committed to showing up.** **🤙⚽️**

RSVPs are required. The reason is that it should increase your own enjoyment. You see, the ideal number of players for a pickup soccer game is perhaps 6x6 - 8x8; some players won't attend if they think the turnout will be low, and others will just assume the game will be cancelled even though we always play. (As a practical matter, smaller games are less fun since the comics won't have the audience they need, but, they do have two hidden benefits: shorter, more intense games/workouts and fewer face kicks/yellow cards. So we play no matter how small or large.) So non-RSVPers are a little short sighted, since they don't seem to want to maximize their own enjoyment in the long run. Rational and sane players who have a good chance of attending RSVP a week early both here and at https://meetup.com/dcsoccer , the parent soccer group.
