Becoming a Mendix Architect: The Path, the Mindset, and the Practice
Becoming a Mendix Architect: The Path, the Mindset, and the Practice
Architecture isn’t a job title—it’s a way of thinking and making decisions. 🧠 In this meetup, you’ll discover how you (from junior to senior) can grow architectural skills and create lasting impact. As Mendix developers, we’re trained to move fast and deliver value. 🚀 But Mendix has evolved into a mature enterprise platform, used for increasingly complex and business-critical solutions. As applications grow into landscapes—with more teams, integrations, security requirements, and quality expectations—delivery alone isn’t enough. That’s where architectural thinking comes in: • making trade-offs explicit • designing for change • creating guardrails that keep teams productive This meetup explores the path toward becoming a Mendix architect from two complementary perspectives. 🔹 **Zooming in:** What architecture really means in practice, how the architect role differs from senior development, and how you can start creating architectural impact—regardless of your current level. 🔹 **Zooming out:** How Mendix is positioned compared to buying off-the-shelf software, traditional development, and other low-code platforms like PowerApps. We’ll also look ahead at how Mendix fits into the future of software development, including its role in Agentic AI and how it compares to AI-generated code. You’ll leave with: • a clearer architectural mindset • a shared vocabulary • practical examples • strategic context you can immediately apply in refinements, design sessions, or technical reviews 🎯 *** **What you’ll learn** • What architecture is (and isn’t): mindset, responsibilities, and outcomes • The progression from junior → medior → senior → architect • Making better decisions in Mendix: modularization, integration strategy, security-by-design, performance • How architects enable teams through principles, guardrails, and governance—without slowing delivery • How Mendix is positioned as an enterprise platform versus traditional code, packaged software, and other low-code options • How Mendix fits into the future of AI-driven development, including Agentic AI and AI-generated code • Practical takeaways: review checklists and a next-steps roadmap you can start tomorrow 🛠️ *** **Audience** Anyone building Mendix solutions—from curious juniors to experienced seniors and tech leads. 👥 *** **Agenda** • 18:00 – 19:00 🍽️ Dinner (for in-person attendees only—don’t forget to RSVP with your dietary requirements!) • 19:00 – 20:00 🎙️ Presentations by the speakers, followed by Q&A • 20:00 – 21:00 🍻 Drinks & Networking *** **Speakers** 🎤 Zefanja Kleuters – Sopra Steria Mendix Expert with a broad range of experience in both development and architecture. 🎤 Andreas Lennevi – Mendix Mendix Lead Architect, sharing the broader enterprise positioning of Mendix and its role in the future of software development. *** **About this event** This is an in-person event hosted at the Sopra Steria office in Machelen. 🏢 A recording will be made available for those who can’t attend live. Mendix Meetups are all about community, learning, and real-world experience—no sales pitches, no recruiting, just valuable insights and knowledge sharing. 🤝 *** **Any questions about this meetup?** Contact community@mendix.com, matthias.strauven@soprasteria.com, or jeroen.desmedt@soprasteria.com for more details.
Leuven Sailors Meetup: Basic Sailing Theory (series)
Leuven Sailors Meetup: Basic Sailing Theory (series)
Ahoy! [Leuven's sailing community](https://www.sailingcommunity.be/) organizes together with IHL an indoor evening all about sailing. Do you lie awake at night wondering what makes Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Very Tasty? Are you dying to know the difference between lazy jacks, lazy lines and jackstays? Does your heart race at the sight of a green can buoy, but you don't quite know why? Basic Sailing Theory has your back! Join us for five thrilling Monday evenings (7–9 pm) where we’ll bravely tackle some issues relating to weather, navigation, seamanship, rules of the road, chart work, safety at sea, and more. If you wish to be a bit less confused on your first sailing trip — drop by on the following dates: March 9 & 23 April 6 & 20 May 4 Location: IHL, Tiensevest 60, Leuven Price: Free! You can attend any one session, a few of them, or all of them, but there will be a bit of a build-up and we'll start each lesson from where we left off, so it is advisable to go all-in. The IMO won't come knocking on your door if you don't, though. Registration is mandatory. Prior knowledge is absolutely not. There will be homework. This group is led by some friendly international sailors, that want to share their passion and connect people with similar interests. Don't hesitate to come and learn or even add your own expertise! About the volunteer for this series: **Maija** will be the lead of the Basic Sailing Theory series. Born and raised in Siberia, in the heart of the world's largest landmass, about 2000 km from the nearest ocean, she dreamed of sailing ever since she learned that countries have laws and oceans are not countries. Drawn to what felt like the last wild and lawless frontier, she started sailing three years ago. After covering several thousand miles at sea, she has learned that water demands more constraint, discipline and respect for rules than land ever did. This is her first experimental attempt at sharing some of those rules.

Tired of Dating Apps? Try a Different Way to Meet Singles in Brussels
Tired of Dating Apps? Try a Different Way to Meet Singles in Brussels
# Tired of Endless Swiping? You’re not the only one. Most people who join us say the same thing: **Dating started to feel rushed, performative, and oddly disconnected.** So we built something different. Conscious Connections Club hosts **Relational Labs** — guided social experiences designed to spark real conversation, emotional depth, and authentic connection. Events now run in **40+ cities across six continents**, bringing together singles who value curiosity, presence, and meaningful interaction. Before joining an event, everyone attends a short alignment call so you can understand the space and decide if it feels like your kind of people. ### Get the Zoom Link [\[Here\]](https://www.consciousconnectionsclub.com/join#_ps0z7hzgy) *** # What Happens On The Call This is a **30-minute alignment call with the founder**. On the call you’ll learn: • why this community was created • how Relational Labs are different from speed dating or typical singles events • how we curate intentional spaces across 40+ cities • what actually happens at the events • why many people return again and again Some calls have **a handful of people**, others twenty or more. You’re welcome to simply listen and get a feel for the space. Many people attend their first event **alone** — and most leave having met someone they genuinely want to see again. Sometimes it becomes friendship. Sometimes romance. Often it's simply the relief of realizing **you're not the only one craving deeper connection.** *** ### See If This Is Your Scene [\[Here\]](consciousconnectionsclub.com/join) *** # Why We Require This Call The alignment call helps us keep events **intentional, respectful, and aligned**. It also gives you a real chance to feel confident in the experience being right for you before joining a live event. No pressure. Just clarity. *** ### Get the Zoom Link [\[Here\]](https://www.consciousconnectionsclub.com/join#_ps0z7hzgy)

Fast Friending: Real Connections! (21-40/Bring a Lady FREE)
Has it been just you and your phone lately? It’s easy to feel connected yet still feel alone. Digital interactions can’t replace the warmth of eye contact, real laughter, and meaningful conversations. True connection happens when we step away from our screens and show up as ourselves — present, open, and engaged. At Fast Friending, we create spaces where real relationships begin. - just genuine conversations and shared moments. Because nothing compares to meeting face-to-face, discovering common ground, and walking away with a connection that truly feels real. **You will need to buy a ticket for attending -** [https://brussels14thmarch.eventbrite.co.uk](https://brussels14thmarch.eventbrite.co.uk) \*You can use any debit or credit card to purchase your ticket at PayPal checkout. You will be able to meet lots of ladies and gentlemen and not be limited to only those sitting or standing next you\. \- After 8\.30 pm you will have time to interact with those you have met as well as others\. \- We are not a close knit tight group\. Our evenings are warm and comfortable for members attending for the first time and those coming alone\. You will not feel alone\! \- We have many groups in this city\. Members of our other groups who RSVP are included as guests of the organisers in order to give you an indication of expected people\. \- This evening is for ladies and gents in the 21 to 40 age group\. While some will be at the younger end of this range there will also be others at the other end of the range and lots in\-between\! You will naturally gel with others of your own age range and so you will always find many attendees who fit your range\. \- We are not a 'dating' group\. We are focused on helping ladies and gents meet other like minded ladies and gents\. You will generally find a good gender balance \(maybe not perfect\) at all our events\. Why do we have tickets? 1. Cover our costs - Our host is compensated for their time and work. We also pay meetup and have dedicated staff to manage our events, hosts, venues and communication. 2. Group Safety - By securing your ticket we have a record and you contribute to a well organized evening where everyone is more committed and better behaved. 3. Football match at Parc du Cinquantenaire
Football match at Parc du Cinquantenaire
If you have a ball, please bring it... Let's gather at the Parc du Cinquantenaire close to the Tour de Tournai (https://goo.gl/maps/RsxFtTJydq92) and organize a *low-level* football match on the grass. Unless it rains badly as we're about to play, the game is on. Players of any age, weight, sex and size are allowed. Come as you are, at any time after 4pm. IMPORTANT REMINDER -- As Shitty Players, we don't bite or growl when someone misses the ball. We don't do penalties or yellow cards because we're so gentle we don't need them. We vaguely know of the existence of other rules like off-side but we'd rather ignore them than argue about them. We may or may not keep track of the score: this is a game where everyone wins. To help build the Team, come with 2 t-shirts white and black (or similar colors: light grey and dark blue etc). Beer session will follow on the grass, for those who survive till the end. Data & Analytics Wednesday - Google Analytics Alternatives
Data & Analytics Wednesday - Google Analytics Alternatives
**Google Analytics Alternatives** Is it finally time to make the switch away from Google Analytics? Two-and-a-half years ago Jason Packer asked this question at Columbus Web Analytics Wednesday. Since then: Google’s Universal Analytics has been sunset, we’ve changed our name to Columbus Data & Analytics Wednesday, and Jason has released two editions of his book “Google Analytics Alternatives”. Fresh off the release of the 2nd edition of his book, we thought it was time to re-open this conversation. While people love to complain about it, GA’s market share has remained relatively constant (at least in the United States). Why is that? You won’t find any complaints about GA4 in this talk, but rather an overview of what’s currently available in the market and how to frame your decision-making process. We’ll also be giving out some free copies of Jason’s book! So even if you’ve got a “GA4Lyfe” tattoo (no judgement), there’s free books to go with the free pizza and beer.
