(English below) Practicar yôga puede ser muy chulo por qué entrenas una combinación de cuerpo físico, emociones, pensamientos y ese “algo más” que todos tenemos/ somos. Esta clase es un poco especial por qué este grupo normalmente es para mejorar tu español. Como algunos ya sabeis, mi hobbie serio es el yôga, hace años que lo practico y tambien tengo formación como instructor, así que por que no proponer una buena clase de domingo? Será en castellano y te puedo ayudar con inglés tambien. Esta vez entrenaremos técnicas de respiración, de meditación, ásanas y otras técnicas. El ambiente es informal, para todos los niveles, relajado y con sentido del humor. También hay momentos más introspectivos. Lo más importante es que tú mismo/a notes el antes y el después de la clase. El espacio donde quedamos es muy chulo, está a 100 metros de Las Ramblas, de Drassanes o de Liceu en la linea verde. Empezamos puntuales a las 11h. Llega unos minutos antes para disfrutar con calma. Para participar hay una contribución de solo 10€ por persona (efectivo, Bizum, Revolut..) SI ya tienes algún pack de 4 x 30€ de las clases de conversación, puedes participar en esta también (cuenta como 1 clase) El plan después de clase es ir a picar algo (opcional) a algún lugar cerca. Si te cuadra la idea, ven con ropa cómoda, tipo deportiva y, si tienes, trae tu esterilla, tenemos algunas pero nunca se sabe. This is a space to express yourself freely. **I've never done something like this, is this weird?** Come with an open mind, a desire to explore new ideas and play! The main goal is to be authentically YOURSELF while respecting those around you. **Are there any rules?** As with any gathering at Samanà Space; singing circle or ecstatic dance journey etc, we will be without shoes inside. It is a **vegan**, **alcohol/drug free place. This is an in-person meeting. Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance. Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues. So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them? That is what this meeting will be all about. Drunken Philosophy: Where Is Everybody? The Fermi Paradox and the Great Filter
Welcome to Drunken Philosophy, a casual, curious, social discussion club. Come grab a drink and a seat at The Oracle. **Optional topic for this meetup: Where is everybody?** In 1950 the physicist Enrico Fermi was talking about aliens over lunch and asked a question that still has not gone away: if the universe is so vast and so old, and even a fraction of those billions of stars have planets, where is everyone? By the numbers the galaxy should be crowded with civilizations. Instead we look up and hear silence. That gap between "they should be everywhere" and "we see no one" is the Fermi Paradox. One of the most unsettling answers is the idea of a **Great Filter**: somewhere on the road from dead chemistry to a galaxy-spanning civilization, there is at least one step that is almost impossible to get past. Maybe the filter is behind us. Maybe life starting at all, or simple cells becoming complex, or intelligence ever evolving, is the freak accident, and we already cleared the hard part. Or maybe the filter is ahead of us, and advanced civilizations reliably wipe themselves out before they spread. Here is the part that messes with people. If we ever found life somewhere else, even pond scum on Mars, most people would call it the greatest discovery in history. But it might be the worst possible news. It would mean life is common, the early steps are easy, and the hard step is still in front of us. So the eerie silence overhead might actually be the best sign we could ask for. **Questions to wrestle with:** * Is it better to be alone? Would you rather we find alien life and learn we are not special, or find nothing and quietly improve our odds of surviving? * Where do you bet the filter sits, behind us or ahead of us, and why? * If it is ahead of us, what is it? Nuclear war, climate collapse, AI, something we cannot even picture yet? And can we do anything about a filter we cannot see coming? * Two principles pull opposite ways here. The principle of mediocrity (the Copernican principle, Sagan's "no privileged place in the universe") says we are ordinary, so what happened on Earth probably happened everywhere, which makes the silence scream louder. The anthropic principle says of course we find ourselves somewhere life was possible, since we could not observe anything else, so our being here may say almost nothing about how common life is. Which lens do you trust, and does the silence still demand an answer once you account for observer selection? * And if we did confirm life out there and had to accept we are not special, what would that do to belief in a higher power, and would shedding (or keeping) that belief help or hurt our odds of pulling together as one species? * Does any of this change how you live, or how humanity should be spending its time and money right now?
