A dream is a wish your heart makes.
We are gathering to talk about whatever science fiction, new and old, got us excited lately! What was the last novel you read? Is there any blockbuster you look forward to? What's good on streaming? Games, creative writing, comic books, novels, cinema, anything goes.
A table will be booked on the organizer's name (Carlos). The available seats will be limited: please confirm if you are attending, or cancel on time if you can't come. If you confirm, it means a seat was booked for you.
If this is your first meetup with this group:
There is no fixed subject or theme, just feel free to discuss whatever you would like to share about anything Science Fiction. The lingua franca is English, as it is the language we all have in common. However we also switch languages, whenever convenient. We look forward to meeting you.
We have a closed chat group on WhatsApp. If you would like to join, please PM the organizer to receive the invitation link.
See you soon!
Photo Walk: Winterthur - Thema Story Telling
\-\-\- D \-\-\-
* Wo beginnt deine Geschichte?
* Wer oder was steht im Mittelpunkt?
* Welche Details geben Kontext oder Spannung?

This photo walk through the old town of Winterthur is all about **visual storytelling:**
* How do you tell a small story with images – concrete, tangible, and vivid?
The focus is on a simple yet powerful structure:
* **A story in five photos.**
On-site, you’ll receive a compact card that shows you step by step how to build a photo series:
* Where does your story begin?
* Who or what is at the center?
* Which details add context or create tension?
The card helps you to consciously look for suitable subjects along the way – whether you're using a camera or a smartphone.
**Who is it for?**
For beginners and advanced photographers interested in photo techniques – and who want to learn how to use those techniques purposefully for storytelling.
**Pricing**
This walk is free, a [donation](https://tscharner.payrexx.com/pay?tid=861b78d0) to cover expenses is very much appreciated.

Jackpot Comedy
**[Tickets here on Eventfrog](https://eventfrog.ch/jackpotcomedy)**
**Down on your luck?** Perfect. Comedy works best on people with low expectations. At **Jackpot Comedy**, comedians test brand-new jokes alongside the ones that actually work. Some hit the jackpot, some crash out spectacularly. Either way, you win, because it’s funnier when anything can happen.
Expect a proper underground comedy night, close to the stage, real crowd energy, and comics who are risking their dignity for your entertainment. Hosted by **[Jack Roberts](https://www.instagram.com/jackrobertscomedy/)**, a man who has invested his long-term financial stability entirely into making strangers laugh.
We’re downstairs at **Bar OTRO,** just off Langstrasse, the ideal location for high-risk decisions you’ll be glad you made the next morning. No dress code. No awkward theatre seating. Just drinks, friends, and a very high probability of laughing harder than you planned. Roll the dice. Bring someone you like. Or someone you’re unsure about, this is an excellent test.

We’re teaming up with [Kristjan Gomboc](https://www.linkedin.com/in/kristjangomboc/) (Head of Product Design) and [Pankaj Juvekar](https://www.linkedin.com/in/pankajjuvekar/) (Lead Product Designer) from the [Lido Pilots Apps division](https://www.linkedin.com/showcase/lido/) to unpack how aviation software gets designed, where safety, regulation and precision leave zero room for “good enough.”

📍 **Stelzenstrasse 6, 8152 Opfikon**

🛫 The Full Flight Path

🧩 The Stack
How designers, engineers and aviation experts collaborate using Figma and Figma Make to stay aligned in complex systems.
🔍 Real Talk
Work-in-progress files. Honest lessons. The reality of designing for highly regulated environments.
To close the evening, we’ll host a panel discussion with [Laura Fehre](https://www.linkedin.com/in/laura-fehre/) from Figma, connecting the aviation case study with a broader perspective on AI, Figma Make and how tools evolve to support teams working on complex real-world systems.
Whether you’re into complex systems, curious about aviation UX or interested in the future of design tools, this one’s for you.

Poetry night
Welcome to a cozy evening of poetry, prose, and creative expression. As we enter the Spring season, let’s gather in an intimate circle of spoken word and shared presence. Together, we’ll venture into imaginal worlds through metaphors rising from the deepest wells of our being.
Space is limited to 10 participants (with possible exceptions). The evening will be hosted in English, but you are warmly invited to share in German or in your native language. If you feel inspired, you may even embody your poetry through movement.
This event is open to everyone—from beginners to seasoned poets. You are welcome to read your own work, or to share a poem or piece of writing that has moved or inspired you.
This is an inclusive, non-judgmental, and free gathering (donations are welcome but entirely optional). It is made possible by kind souls who value authentic connection—to oneself, to others (including the more-than-human world), and to the invisible realms that poetry so beautifully reveals. It is an invitation to step gently beyond comfort, to embrace vulnerability, and to be witnessed in the sacred unfolding of your voice.
Tea may be available—please bring your own cup.

She was recently the Oscar Wilde Centre Writer Fellow at Trinity College Dublin, and will be a Cullman Fellow at the New York Public Library for 2023-2024. 2 for 1 DEAL: Punch Needle in Central Zürich
In this **Punch Needle workshop,** you'll transform simple threads into unique works of art. Punch Needle is a modern yet relaxing embroidery technique where loops are created in the fabric using a special needle. This results in textured, soft surfaces and impressive patterns. This workshop offers the perfect opportunity to learn Punch Needle or to bring your creative ideas to life – no prior experience necessary.
At the beginning of the Punch Needle workshop, you'll receive an **introduction to the basics of the technique** . I'll explain step by step how the punch needle works, which materials are used, and what you should pay attention to while stitching. You'll learn how to guide the thread correctly, create even loops, and neatly execute your design. The calm, repetitive movement of punch needle is particularly relaxing and perfect for unwinding from everyday life.
In the workshop, you have **two creative options** to choose from.
The first option is to select an **existing template** . These designs are especially suitable for beginners and guide you step-by-step through the embroidery process. You can concentrate fully on the technique and learn how to create a punch needle artwork from start to finish.
The second option is for those who **want to unleash their own creativity** . You can design your own pattern and then embroider it yourself. Whether simple shapes, patterns, lettering, or a free-form motif – you decide what you want to create. Here, too, you will receive individual guidance and support in planning and executing your design.
Throughout the entire Punch Needle workshop, you will **receive personal, step-by-step guidance** . It's important to me that all participants feel comfortable and can work without pressure. Questions are always welcome, and I'll help you find solutions if something doesn't work right away. The goal is to work with enjoyment and create a result you can be proud of.
All **materials are included in the workshop** . You'll receive the punch needle, fabric, frame, and a selection of threads in various colors. You don't need to bring anything except your creativity and enthusiasm for crafting. At the end of the workshop, you'll take your hand-stitched artwork home – ideal as a decoration or a personal gift.
**How long?**
1-2 hours
**For whom?**
The Punch Needle Workshop is **suitable for everyone** . Both children and adults are welcome. The course is aimed at beginners, but creative people with some experience can also gather new ideas and refine their technique. Punch Needle is easy to learn and offers quick results, which makes the workshop particularly motivating.
If you feel like trying something new, unwinding creatively and creating a work of art with your hands, this **Punch Needle Workshop** is just right for you.

Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington.
The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo.
Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine.
We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you.
The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly.
Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome.
The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit.
Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times.
Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have.
