Film Screening: The Night of the Shooting Stars (La Notte di San Lorenzo)
Film Screening: The Night of the Shooting Stars (La Notte di San Lorenzo)
*The London Christian Film Society is a community of film lovers and filmmakers who gather to watch great cinema, make films, and explore the questions that art leaves behind.* One of the most acclaimed works of Italian cinema, *The Night of the Shooting Stars* follows a group of villagers crossing the Tuscan countryside as war closes around them during the final days of the German occupation. The story is told as memory rather than history. Facts, legends, childhood impressions, rumours, dreams and reality mingle together until the film begins to feel less like a reconstruction of the past than an act of remembering it. The Taviani brothers possessed a gift that few filmmakers have ever shared. They could look directly at violence, suffering and political catastrophe without becoming cynical. Their cinema is filled with peasants, children, old women, partisans, farmers and dreamers, yet everything is illuminated by a sense of poetry and wonder. A film about war, certainly, but also about storytelling itself: how communities remember, how myths emerge from history, and how hope survives even when reason suggests it should not. *We shall begin with a brief introduction at **6:30pm**, then go into the screening, followed by a discussion.* *Location: West London. **Message the us individually for the address.***

London Society WALK - Marble Arch to Shepherds Bush
London Society WALK - Marble Arch to Shepherds Bush
Have you ever wanted to be immersed within either the city or nature in the form of a walk and socialise at the same time? If so, this may be the right walk for you. Welcome to another one of the WALK events where you have the opportunity to explore all the scenic routes I’ll execute whether there’s nature within, whether we get immersed within the city and feel great about yourself.

With this particular walk, we will be walking from Marble Arch to Shepherd’s Bush. This walk in particular is more of a transition from central London to the western parts of London. One moment, we’re surrounded by landmarks and gorgeous parks and the next, we enter a different dynamic of west London that we haven’t seen before. To be precise, it’s quite the immersive walk as we get to discover what cultures and places are down there. After this walk, we will be heading inside Westfield Shepherd’s Bush for some ice cream at Badiani’s or any other alternative if you wish. Badiani’s is an Italian business specialised in gelato and any other delicacies. They began since 1932 and arrived in the Uk since 2016. If you were to look at their treats, you could say it feels like ‘Charlie and the chocolate factory’. To find out more, check out their website at https://www.badiani1932.com My fellow explorers, if you enjoyed the event, I’m more than happy to accept any donations which of course are optional but will go a long way to help me unlock and deliver even more exciting and engaging events and resources: https://www.paypal.me/calvinjoy

Starting point: Marble Arch
Ending point: Shepherd’s Bush Westfield
Walking length: 2.7 miles
Duration: 1 hour +
Required clothing: Smart casual, comfortable shoes and a jacket in case it gets cold
Departure: 20 minutes after the meeting time.

WHAT - Walk down west London
WHERE - Marble Arch/Shepherds bush
WHEN - 6:30pm - 9pm
MEETING POINT - Marble Arch landmark
NEAREST STATION - Marble Arch station
REQUIREMENTS - Just your good behaviour is all and whatever is listed above for the walk.

Disclaimers: Please be on your best behaviour and respect one another. This group doesn’t tolerate any misbehaviour and misconduct. Should such a thing take place, you will be removed. If you ask a question that either already has the answer to it or doesn’t relate to the event at all, I won’t respond. Whenever an event takes place, I will cut off contact 20 minutes after the event commences. If you message even 1 minute after the cut off time, I won’t be available as I’m conducting the event. There will be photography and videography by myself so if you are photo conscious and/or do not want to be in the video, do kindly inform me and I’ll try my utmost best to not involve you in the picture. Let’s all be responsible but please be aware you come at your own risk. Do be mindful of your possessions, belongings and most importantly, your safety. In-Person Event: The Answers to Depression & Anxiety
In-Person Event: The Answers to Depression & Anxiety
This is an in-person meeting. At this meeting you will get answers to depression and anxiety. Find out the source of them and how to get rid of them. Did you know that unwanted emotions like anxiety, depression, unhappiness, loneliness, hopelessness, anger, fear, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not due to a chemical imbalance in your brain from some nebulous chemical reaction "by chance". Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life. Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there. In Person Event: The Secrets to Mental Health
In Person Event: The Secrets to Mental Health
Mental Health, how do you understand it? How can you improve it? How do you get rid of stress, anxiety and uncertainty? These emotions are buried deep in your reactive mind. Find out what the reactive mind is, and in the process find yourself. Have you ever suffered from a traumatic experience, a deep loss or been through a painful breakup? Has your ability to communicate suffered as a result? And after that, even though you "moved on" did you find that things were never quite the same? Have you ever looked at childhood photos, or reminisced your early life and wondered where that happiness and spark went? Are your emotions out of your own control? Have you ever felt, even if you aren’t aware of it, that possibly you are getting in your own way of your happiness and success? How does this affect your self-confidence? Find out what is at the root of all stress, anxiety, depression and self-doubt. Find out how and why you hold yourself back from achieving your goals and having the life you have dreamed of. As soon as you learn what is at the root of these unwanted conditions, you’ll see it is something you can DO something about. You will not be labeled or categorized at this MeetUp. This group is hosted by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
