**"Building Conversational Agents in Code with AWS Lambda Durable Functions"**
*Speaker:* **[Gunnar Grosch](https://www.linkedin.com/in/gunnargrosch/)**\, Developer Advocate at Sinch \| ex\-AWS \| AWS Serverless Hero
*About the talk:*
Building agentic AI workflows typically requires Step Functions or complex database state machines to handle human delays. AWS Lambda Durable Functions change that. You write sequential code in a single Lambda function that can suspend for days and resume instantly, and you only pay for active compute time. In this session, we will orchestrate Amazon Bedrock conversational agents using the Sinch Conversation API to handle inbound interactions. You will learn how to dispatch AI specialists, use simple callbacks to wait for asynchronous human input, and replace heavy infrastructure boilerplate with native durable execution.
**"How RBI is automating its cloud foundation with AWS Step Functions"**
*Speaker:* **[Roman Jokel](https://www.linkedin.com/in/roman-jokel/),** Cloud Architect (Raiffeisen Informatik)
**/ [Florian Ettinger](https://www.linkedin.com/in/florian-ettinger/),** Solution Architect (AWS)
*About the talk:*
How can AWS Step Functions transform daily cloud operations? Join us to explore how RBI is using workflow orchestration to automate its cloud foundation. We’ll share practical insights from our Cloud Center of Excellence, demonstrating how Step Functions power landing zone operations, simplify automation, speed up deployments and enable scalable cloud governance across the organization.

"Direct-Style Concurrency & Resiliency" + "Deterministic, AI-driven dev-flows"
Agenda (preliminary)
18:00 doors open
18:20 welcome
18:30 **A Tour of Ox 1.0: Direct-Style Concurrency and Resiliency**
19:30 break
20:00 **Maybe(!): "Orca: Deterministic, AI-driven development flows"**
20:00 **Maybe(!): "Sandcat: Docker & dev container setup for securely running AI agents"**
21:00 Networking
**A Tour of Ox 1.0: Direct-Style Concurrency and Resiliency**
Ox provides a toolkit for safe concurrency and resiliency for Scala on the JVM. After two years of prototyping, we’re delighted to showcase the final product. With Ox, you can build and deliver direct-style Scala applications today.
In the code-first presentation, we’ll begin with concurrency (including lower-level structured concurrency scopes and higher-level concurrency operators). Next, we’ll proceed to Ox’s approach to error management and type safety in that area. We’ll then explore Ox’s direct-but-reactive streaming library before concluding with its built-in resiliency toolkit.
Software is never finished, so we’ll also share what lies ahead for Ox specifically and our plans for direct-style Scala generally.
**About Adam Warski**
Adam Warski is the co-founder of SoftwareMill and head of R&D at VirtusLab, where he primarily generates code using Java, Scala, Rust and other interesting technologies. He is actively involved in open-source projects, such as Ox, Jox, Tapir, sttp, and others. He has also been a speaker at major conferences, including JavaOne, Devoxx, GeeCON and ScalaDays. In addition to writing closed- and open-source software, he spends his free time exploring various programming-related subjects. Any ideas or insights he gains usually end up on his blog ([https://warski.org/articles](https://warski.org/articles)).
**Maybe(!): "Orca: Deterministic, AI-driven development flows"**
Orca Flow scripts orchestrate coding agents. No need to try to convince the LLM that reviewing code until all review comments are fixed is a good idea - the script will ensure that's the way it will be done. No need to spend tokens on calling a code formatter, switch branches or creating PRs. Orca Flow scripts are written in Scala, and executable using scala-cli. That's the only component you'll need to install - everything else will be downloaded on-the-fly. Orca Flow scripts read like Python, but are type-safe, so you can know that your script will execute just fine. Orca works with Claude & Codex (now), but the plans are much wider than that!
**Maybe(1): "Sandcat: a Docker & dev container setup for securely running AI agents**
Sandcat is a Docker & [dev container](https://containers.dev) setup for securely running AI agents. The environment is sandboxed, with controlled network access and transparent secret substitution. All of this is done while retaining the convenience of working in an IDE like VS Code.
All container traffic is routed through a transparent [mitmproxy](https://mitmproxy.org/) via WireGuard, capturing HTTP/S, DNS, and all other TCP/UDP traffic without per-tool proxy configuration. A straightforward allow/deny list-based engine controls which network requests go through, and a secret substitution system injects credentials at the proxy level so the container never sees real values.
Tuesday Co-Working Session in Vienna with Style – Get It Done Together
This is a structured coworking session for people who want to follow through and get it done.
👉 **New here? You can join for just 2 hours to try it out.**
👉 Stay longer if you want to go deeper. To join, please register here (takes 1–2 minutes): [https://nocrastination.space/](https://nocrastination.space/)
**We like a touch of mystery!** **The exact location will be sent to you by email 24 hours before the session. Please make sure to register in advance.**
**Execution with Style. You start, but don't finish. We help you get it done.**
Join our [WhatsApp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/K6LidaoQhe16wZ0Se9pNM6?mode=gi_t) Follow us on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/nocrastinationclub/)
You just haven’t been able to follow through. You start things, lose momentum and find yourself starting over again. You’re not alone.
Most people get support at the beginning. And applause at the end. But the part that actually matters? The middle. The quiet, repetitive, sometimes frustrating part where nothing feels exciting, and everything depends on showing up. **That’s where we are.**
At NoCrastination, we don’t meet for hype. We meet to **show up and finish something, together.** Not perfectly. Not magically. Just consistently.
**Why “Style”?**
Because sometimes, the hardest part isn’t the task. It’s who you believe you are when you sit down to do it. When you wear something different,
something bold, unusual, or expressive: you step slightly outside your usual identity. And in that small shift… It becomes easier to start. Easier to act. Easier to follow through.
**Execution with Style**
Each session, you’re invited to wear something you normally wouldn’t:
* the jacket that never leaves your closet
* something colorful, dramatic, or expressive
* something funny, strange, or unexpected
* something you feel like you “can’t pull off”
No pressure. But if you join in, be ready to share the story behind it.
**Self-expression + execution = momentum**
**What this really is**
This is a space for people who:
* keep starting but don’t finish
* are building something (or figuring it out)
* don’t want to do it alone anymore
**What happens here**
You bring something you’ve been avoiding. We sit down together. We focus. And you leave with something done.
**Why people come back**
* “I finally follow through on what I plan”
* “I leave with real progress every time”
* “This is the only place I actually stay consistent”
**How long should I join?**
You don’t need to commit to the full session.
**Option 1: Try it (2 hours, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM)**
Perfect if it’s your first time or you want a light commitment
**Option 2: Go deep (4 hours, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM)**
Stay for the full session and build real momentum
**Time and location**
🕐 **Every Tuesday, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM**
💻 **Bring:** your laptop, journal, or anything you’ve been avoiding
☕ Please do order something from the bar, so as to keep us in their good graces!
**Please arrive on time or during the break windows to avoid interrupting the focus sessions** 😊
**Focus schedule:**
9:30 AM – 10:20 AM → Focus Block 1
10:35 AM – 11:20 AM → Focus Block 2
11:35 AM – 12:25 PM → Focus Block 3
**If you expect to arrive late, please come during one of these break windows:**
10:20 AM – 10:35 AM
11:20 AM – 11:35 AM
12:25 PM – 1:00 PM for Lunch + Pitch
Simple structure. Real progress.
**This is for you if:**
* You keep starting but don’t finish
* You feel stuck working alone
* You want structure — without pressure
* You want to express yourself AND move forward
**What you’ll get**
Not motivation. Not a productivity hack.
**You’ll get: ONE THING DONE.**
And then you come back, and do it again.
**This is how it starts**
You don’t need to commit to anything big. Just come once. Pick one thing.
Finish it. We’ll be there. As we’re growing and improving the experience, we’re moving to a more structured system. Registration is part of participating.

Does your LLM speak the same language as you? (DDD Vienna Meshup)
**Does your LLM speak the same language as you?**
*Context, Language & AI in Domain‑Driven Design*
**Agenda**
* Quick Intro: Kontext als roter Faden
* Strategisches DDD: Zutaten ≠ Lösung
* Ubiquitous Language: Sprache als Entscheidungsgrundlage
* LLMs im Business: impliziter vs. expliziter Kontext
* Diskussion & Q&A

Does your LLM speak the same language as you? Context, Language & AI in Domain‑Driven Design
Ingredients alone aren't enough.
In Domain‑Driven Design (DDD), context, shared language, and clear boundaries determine good software – and the meaningful use of LLMs in an organization.
In this meetup, we connect strategic DDD, Ubiquitous Language, and AI:
Why context matters more than ingredients (explained through an Italian dinner)
Why shared language isn't a glossary, but a working instrument.
How much context an LLM really needs – and why our team needs the same
We discuss LLMs not as a replacement for collaboration, but as an amplifier of good domain knowledge.

Travel Paths: Animal movement algorithms
We are pleased to welcome Katrina Brock from Max Planck Society to present an R package for analyzing animal movement data. Join us to explore how R can be put to work in animal behaviour research.
**Travel Paths: Bridging the usability gap in open source animal movement algorithms**
The behavior ecology literature offers a rich library of approaches for finding patterns in animal movement data. While many of the biologists developing these algorithms publish their code, it is rarely optimized for reuse. Even well-designed packages with similar workflows have different interfaces that potential users need to learn one by one. By wrapping these algorithms in a standardized interface, the “Travel Paths” framework reduces researcher toil. Instead of digging through scripts and learning disparate conventions, they can run many methods with just a few functions. The framework is composed of two packages: the trackframe package provides a flexible and interoperable format for input data while the travelpaths package, taking inspiration from parsnip, offers the interface for movement models. In this talk, we’ll discuss how we designed this framework and how it can be leveraged to enable even novice R users to apply a variety of methods to their animal movement data.

Wenn intelligente Agenten außer Kontrolle
**Agentic AI trifft Cybersecurity – Wenn intelligente Agenten außer Kontrolle geraten**
**Dr.
