Join us for a VSDC volunteer day at Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary! It is a great way to lend a hand while enjoying up-close time with the more than 200 animals that call Poplar home. Volunteer tasks will range from those requiring mobility and strength to less demanding activities, including raking, cleaning barns and pastures, and washing and refilling water buckets. Wear clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. No food or drink is available on-site, so bring water. Please leave snacks in the car so the animals don't help themselves. Please arrive by 9:45 am so we can gather and start at 10 am sharp. Rockville Vegans will be picking up trash on the outside of Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary as part of their adopt-a-highway program. Poplar will provide all the supplies - gloves, bags, and visibility vests. We will be parking just inside the gate as you enter the farm property.

Reboot Hour is a feel-good, drop-in happy hour for meeting great people, playing a few games, and resetting your week. **Come stressed, leave refreshed. Donate old tech too!** This is the **anti-event**: no agenda, no speakers, no pressure. Just good people + games + conversation. Quick community note: eWaste Warriors has been getting noticed — **Rob Link was named a RealLIST Connectors DC 2026 Top 20 Connector**. You’ll feel that energy in the room: a lot of those “connector” folks show up here to meet people and pull others in. **Optional bonus (1 minute): bring 1 working device** (phone/tablet/laptop/etc.). How about unbeatable Happy Hour, just for our group, on a weekend night? This is mainly a social event and it is organized in joint with my other meetups. We usually draw a big crowed and you might want to get hold of me, at the event, to know, where the green group is. We invite guest speakers on our Happy Hours, from time to time. If you are interested to speak on any green and sustainable issues, please let us know. We will arrange a forum for you.

Qamaria Yemeni Coffee is authentic, spacious, has a helpful staff, and I like their espresso. If you try this place on your own, they’re open early and late. This spot has been recommended a couple times and I think it’ll make a great stop on our journey. Come out Saturday morning for a relaxed convo. (Please keep your RSVP updated if you know you won't be able to attend, so others who can join have the opportunity to. No discussions on politics, religion or potentially controversial topics. We're here to relax and have fun. Just be respectful and we'll be alright. Pay your own way, and enjoy!)

Come on out to our monthly Park Club, this time at Huntley Meadows! We'll take a pleasant late late May stroll through the wetlands and woods, with your fellow Environmentally conscious folks, which was gifted to Fairfax County by President Gerald Ford in 1975 after a long and storied history starting with George Mason (yes, that George Mason). The park is home to abundant wildlife and is known for attracting many birds, amphibians, and plants that are considered less common in the region. Secondary-growth forest sprinkled with several small, native-grass and wildflower meadows surround much of the wetland habitat. If you've never been, it's not to be missed!
