We will be playing up to two games of Power Grid. All experience levels welcome. Expect the game teach to start promptly within the first 10 minutes. Power Grid is an economic network building strategy game with a fluctuating commodities market and an auction round. The objective of Power Grid is to supply the most cities with power. Players mark pre-existing routes between cities for connection, and then bid against each other to purchase the power plants that they use to power their cities. As power plants are purchased, newer, more efficient plants become available, so by merely purchasing, you're potentially allowing others access to superior equipment. Additionally, players must acquire the raw materials (coal, oil, garbage, and uranium) needed to power said plants (except for the 'renewable' windfarm/ solar plants, which require no fuel), making it a constant struggle to upgrade your plants for maximum efficiency while still retaining enough wealth to quickly expand your network to get the cheapest routes. Alright Beavers, it’s time to emerge from the lodge and get back on the pitch! Practice is officially back this week, and we’re capping off the first week with a session that is—quite literally—a big deal. We’ll start with a **fun touch session** to shake off the rust and work on our ball handling. After we’ve built up a proper thirst, we’re heading straight to **Audacious Alewerks** for a post-practice social. **Why you shouldn't miss it:** It happens to be **Pickle Day** at the brewery! Since we’re Beavers, we usually stick to wood, but this Saturday we’re making an exception for some fermented cucumbers. **The Game Plan:** * **Touch Rugby:** Fast-paced, low-contact, high-fun. 🏉 * **The Weather:** Looks like it will be a wonderful warm and sunny day! * **The After-Party:** We’re heading to Audacious Alewerks in Falls Church. * **The Goods:** They are bringing back the **"Kind of a Big Dill" Pickle Gose Ale**. The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes. We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. Please join us the 3rd Wednesday of each month to learn more about the Columbus Ski Club and what we have to offer. Pizza, wings and a variety of appetizers provided. We are a non-profit organization founded in 1958 with over 800 members. The club has grown beyond the single mission of providing members with not only quality skiing events but also year round social and sport activities. Our gatherings are an opportunity for members and non-members to interact and learn about the many activities offered such as euchre, billiards, volleyball, pickleball, tennis, bowling, golf & softball leagues along with ski and non-ski trips. Our members also plan group activities such as visits to wine tastings, bike trips, comedy clubs, concerts, plays and local sports games, etc. CSC membership is not required to belong to the Meetup group. Membership is required in order to participate in most club activities (CSC member). However, anyone (21 and over) is welcome at our meeting gatherings which consist of checking out our current activities and socializing. The annual dues for club membership are $35 with the membership year from September 1st – August 31st.
