**Emilia Strilchuk on the storytelling of the self: a conversation with Stephanie Cooke.** While TCAF approaches, RAID hosts Canadian-Ukrainian artist Emilis Strilchuk for a conversation on storytelling of the self, because sometimes the struggle is real: how do you write about yourself? Together with Emilia, we will explore this question through her graphic memoir *Be Yourself...Oh, Not Like That*, a work that traces her journey from childhood to adulthood through the lens of an autism diagnosis received later in life. *Be Yourself...Oh, Not Like That* touches on the everyday misunderstandings of invisible disability: being called “lazy” when asking for support, “rude” when social rules don’t land, or being told you “don’t look autistic.” Between humour, frustration, and clarity, it reflects on what happens when your internal experience doesn’t match the world’s expectations and how writing and art can be an outlet to process feelings and life changes. Emilia will be in conversation with writer Stephanie Cooke . Some of her graphic novels include ParaNorthern, Oh My Gods, Pillow Talk, and The Racc Pack series, with bestselling creator, Whitney Gardner. Hello Meeples!!!! I host board game night every Thursday at Face to Face Games, located at 1398 Danforth Ave (about a 3 min walk from Greenwood station, or a 7 min walk from Coxwell station)! How it works I’ll be seated at the table at the very back right-hand corner of Face to Face Games (near the washrooms). We usually have 2 tables reserved for our group. (If you can’t find us, ask one of the staff members.) I’ll bring a variety of games from my own collection to board game night, but attendees are free to bring any of their own games as well! Got a brand new game you’ve been dying to play but never have enough players? Bring it along! Got a retro game that you think is a hidden gem? Bring it along and spread the joy! I usually come early at around 4:30pm. If there are other attendees who also arrive early, then we can play some shorter games until 6pm. Six o’clock is when the event officially starts and is when most attendees start trickling in. Once we have most people assembled, we collectively decide which games we want to play and split into groups accordingly. We usually have one group tackling a heavy board game (ie. a game that tends to be more complex and takes longer to finish) while the others play short to medium-length games, but this is very flexible and will depend on turnout and the kinds of games people bring. If you can only get here later or if you arrive late, don’t fret. We’ll see what game you can join so that you can get playing as soon as possible! Rules of the Tables: We are a cool and relaxed group - we swear! But to ensure things run smoothly and that everyone is having fun, we do some some rules we would like attendees to follow: \- Please be respectful of people’s games and property\. For example\, if you’re having a snack \(please share\!\)\, make sure your fingers are clean before you handle cards\, mats\, meeples\, and the like\. People are generous to bring their games to board game night\, so we want to be mindful not to damage or dirty their stuff\. \- Please be mindful of your cellphone usage during the game\. Of course this doesn’t mean you can’t use your cellphone to shoot a quick text message or to check something quickly \- we’re not monsters\! However\, if you’re always focused on your cellphone \(for example\, watching a video or playing a cellphone game\) and are not paying attention to the rules being explained\, or you constantly need the other players to repeat themselves as to what sick moves they just made\, then it ends up taking away from everyone’s enjoyment of the game\. \- Please be decent\, in dress and in conduct\. No bullying\, excessive swearing\, racist or sexist language\, and all the other bad stuff\.

Since the beginning of recorded history, Iran/Persia has been one of the most important world civilizations. Yet the close attention paid to Iran in recent decades stems from the impact of the 1979 revolution, which unleashed ideological shock waves throughout the Middle East that reverberate to this day. Many observers look at Iran through the prism of the Islamic Republic's adversarial relationship with the US, Israel, and Sunni nations in its region, yet as Michael Axworthy shows in *Iran: What Everyone Needs to Know*, there is much more to contemporary Iran than its fraught foreign relations. Struggling with motivation and focus as you hammer away on your manuscript at home? Want to join a community of writers as we embrace the joys and pains (mostly pains) of writing together? Bring your laptop, pen & paper, old-school typewriter, or futuristic writing gadget, and join an enthusiastic community of science fiction and fantasy writers as we work on our current projects in the same space. The format will be similar to our online writing sprints: 30-minute blocks of focused, quiet writing time (the sprints), interspersed with breaks where we can chat, ask questions, and share our writing experiences.

Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington. The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo. Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine. We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you. The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly. Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome. The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit. Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times. Private Group. Closed to the Public Knowing ourselves and understanding our abilities is the first step toward wielding our gifts with control and accuracy. In subsequent classes we will verify and hone our talents with activities and discussion. These are hands-on workshops and participation is expected. The goal of our series will be to develop expertise in areas of particular interest such as mediumship, channeling, divination, healing and, etc..
