Summer Solstice Dublin Mountains Evening Hike
On Friday 26th June we will have an evening walk in the Dublin Mountains - with some of the loveliest views around Dublin. Although it's 5 days after the actual summer solstice, sunset is at 9:57pm so we have plenty of time to enjoy the long summer evening.
From the meeting point we will take the 44B bus to Johnnie Fox's pub, known for being one of the highest pubs in Ireland. We will then walk to Ballyedmondiff Wedge Tomb (also known as Giant's Grave), Two Rock, Fairy Castle and Three Rock before finishing up with a quick drink in the Blue Light pub (if we wish). There is then a pleasant 15-20 mins walk to the bus stop where there are buses to Dundrum & Dublin City Centre and Glencairn Luas stop (with Green Line services).
If the weather is good, we may stop for a short picnic along the way, so feel free to bring food and drink.
Feel free to come on the walk even if you haven't been to a meet up before. This is a great way to meet new people and see new places.
\*\*\* If you wish to wander off during a break then it's probably OK but please agree with the organisers a time you'll return so we're not waiting for you \*\*\*
[Date] 26th June (FRIDAY)
[Time] 17:15 \~ 22:00. The 44B bus is due to leave at 17:30 but please arrive in plenty of time in case it leaves a few minutes early. This is the last bus of the day to the walk's start (Johnnie Fox's) so unfortunately if you miss it then there's no alternative.
[Place] Bus Stop 7981 on the Dundrum Bypass (R117) near Main Street and Dundrum Luas. If you're coming on the Luas from the city centre, first cross over the tracks via the crossing. Take the lift down or stairs down to street level. Walk straight ahead and then turn right on Main Street and then left on the Dundrum Bypass. The bus stop is on the left (pictured with the bus). It's near the Dominic Smith Expert electrical shop in Dundrum.
For those coming on the Luas, I will be at Dundrum Luas on the northbound platform at 17:10 and wait for 5 mins before walking to Bus Stop 7981. If you miss me then please follow the above instructions to walk to the bus stop.

\*Please take good care of your own belongings, the meetup's organisers will not take any responsibility for any lost items before, during or after the meetup. Also please take care when crossing roads as though this walk is mainly in parks and on minor roads there will be a few busy roads to cross. Please wear suitable footwear as some of the paths may be uneven or steep. It is also recommended to bring water to avoid dehydration. Bring warm clothes and a waterproof jacket or umbrella in case of inclement weather.

Let’s play… Monster of the Week / The Quiet Year
Join us every Sunday and tell a story as a group by playing a beginner-friendly roleplaying game. Every week we have 2-3 different games - you will choose which game you play on the day. All materials provided and rules are explained at the start of each game, you just need to bring your imagination.
🎭 **This week's facilitators:**
* 🧛**Antonia** with *[Monster of the Week](https://evilhat.com/product/monster-of-the-week/)*. You are part of a ragtag group of hunters who investigate the strange, the supernatural, and the terrifying. Think *Buffy*, *Supernatural*, or *The X-Files*. Ordinary people (or mostly ordinary) who know that the darkness is real, that every fairytale and folk story contains some truth. As a hunter, you've decided to do something about it. This week, your group hears of a series of murders happening in Allberg. Four bodies in six weeks. All lost more blood than their wounds suggest. In addition, weird symbols have been found around each victim. Can you find the culprit and prevent further tragedy?
* 🏘️ **Adam** with *[The Quiet Year](https://buriedwithoutceremony.itch.io/the-quiet-year)*, a GM-less, map-making game. You define the struggles of a community living after the collapse of civilisation, and attempt to build something good within their quiet year. Every decision and every action is set against a backdrop of dwindling time and rising concern. The game is played using a deck of cards – each of the 52 cards corresponds to a week during the quiet year. Each card triggers certain events – bringing bad news, good omens, project delays and sudden changes in luck. At the end of the quiet year, the Frost Shepherds will come, ending the game.

Sunday boardgame meetup
Our free-of-charge meet-up in the Black Sheep Pub on Capel Street.
This is a casual meet up for people who want to play boardgames. Lots of people bring plenty of games and rules will always be explained so don't worry if you're new to the hobby and you don't have anything to bring along or think you won't know how to play.
The meet-up runs for the whole day but late comers always welcome, you just may have to wait a little for a game to open up but games will be starting and ending throughout the day.
**IMPORTANT!**
**The meet up is free of charge but we do ask that people support the bar by buying food and/or drink. The bar is very accommodating to us and it's important that we support them in return. Bringing in outside food or drink is completely unacceptable.**
Check out the comments below where people will say what games they are bringing and express your interest in joining if interested.
Any questions contact either of the organisers Gavin or Stephen.
