**Introduction** In our busy city, it can be difficult to find time to slow down and smell the roses! Forest bathing offers you the chance to do just that. Over the course of 2 hours, you will be guided through a multi-sensory exploration of the natural world, giving you time to slow down, breathe, and find peace among the natural world. **What is forest bathing?** Forest bathing typically consists of slow walking, mindfulness practices, and resting (seated or lying down) in nature. Remember being a kid and just watching the branches overhead in the breeze? Originating in Japan in the 1980s, Shin-Rin Yoku or forest bathing, was created as a preventative response to climbing rates of stress in urban areas. Since then, many research studies have shown that even one hour a week spent engaging with nature can significantly reduce symptoms of stress. **What to expect:** * 2-hour duration * Small group size (maximum 6) * Multi-sensory activities * Sharing circle (optional) * Herbal tea offering * A guide to take care of you, so you can truly relax into the wonder of the natural world * Phone-free environment * Opportunity to chat and connect with others (if you would like to) * **Please note there are no toilets available** \- there are several cafes on Mile End Road with toilet facilities\. **What to bring:** * Warm clothes; even on a summer day, spending prolonged time in the shade can begin to feel chilly! * Shoes with a good grip, and that you don't mind getting dirty * A journal and pen * A mug (for tea if you fancy it!) * Any medications you might need, such as EpiPens or inhalers. **How much is it?** This experience is offered on a donation basis; this means you can decide what you can reasonably afford to give. To help you decide, we want to be transparent with our cost breakdown: * £8.50 - meets the recommended donation to Friends of THCP and contributes to important conservation work * £12 - covers the above and supports the guide at the minimum wage rate * £15-20 - pay it forward / supporter option. Spend your Sunday exploring one of Kent’s most scenic and historic countryside routes, featuring medieval castle ruins, ancient Roman history, hidden woodland trails, and one of the South East’s most impressive Victorian viaducts. Our hikes offer easy, hassle-free weekend plans, a chance to make new friends, and time to properly switch off in nature - without needing to organise anything yourself. **Logistics** 📍 Start/End point: London Blackfriars train station 🗓 When: Sunday, 28 June - meeting at 8:40AM, leaving at 9:00AM for the 9:13AM train. Estimated return into London at approximately 6:30PM (we will travel together, so please ensure you can commit for the full day) 💷 Cost: £33 (includes return train tickets + guided hike) **What We'll See Along the Way** Less than an hour from London, this route takes us through some of Kent’s most fascinating countryside and historical landmarks. We’ll begin in the picturesque village of Eynsford, home to the ruins of Eynsford Castle, one of the earliest Norman stone castles in England. From there, we’ll follow riverside trails and woodland paths toward the beautiful Lullingstone castle. Along the way, we’ll explore: * The ruins of Eynsford Castle * The remains of a Roman villa dating back nearly 2,000 years * Lullingstone Castle (entrance fee not included) * The dramatic Lullingstone Viaduct viewpoint * Woodland trails, rolling hills, and quiet countryside paths * Riverside scenery and open valley views Expect a mixture of hidden trails, scenic viewpoints, ancient history, and classic Kent countryside. Breathe deeply, listen to the river, and enjoy the calm energy that comes from spending time outdoors. Walking in nature can help quiet the mind, restore focus, and reconnect us with the rhythms of the natural world. Notice the delicate shapes, textures, and shadows that Nature creates, and transform them into your own cyanotype prints. Then come to *BE Ka Art Studio*, Elena's riverside atelier in *Trinity Buoy Wharf*, for a relaxing cynotype session. In this hands-on workshop, you'll discover cyanotype. This photographic printing process uses sunlight, water, and natural materials to create stunning one-of-a-kind artworks in deep luminous blue. Using botanicals, shells, feathers, and found objects, you'll compose your own prints and watch them develop in real time. No cameras, screens, or prior experience needed.
