Saturday Board Game Night
Saturday Board Game Night
Hello and welcome. We'll be playing some good games suited for newcomers and old members alike. Examples of games that we might play on an evening like this include: Diamant, Metro, Courtisans, Trails, Camel Up, Sushi Go, Spooks, Welcome To..., Between 2 Cities, Cartographers, Reptile Tank, and much more. If you're new and none of these titles mean anything to you, don't worry! These games are pretty easy to pick up as you play. And if you have a short and easy-going game you'd like to play, bring it along and we might play it. Hope to see you then! \~\~\~ **FAQ** for new members "Do I have to RSVP?" Yes, please. It helps us anticipate how many people are coming and consequently how many games we'll need. "Can I just join you in playing games?" Yes, absolutely. "Is there a fee?" No, it's free to join and play. However, please get at least one drink from the bar, as the hostel provides this space to us for free with the expectation that people buy drinks from them. "What kind of games do you play?‹" Most games in our collection are light to medium-ish in complexity, fairly short, and pretty easy to pick up once you know the rules. We don’t tend to play heavy eurogames or wargames as they take up too much time and often require an explanation of an hour or more. We also don’t tend to play party games. "Do the games belong to the hostel?" ‹Nope! All of the games present are owned by members who bring games along from their own private collections. Please be sure to treat every game with care and respect. "How do I know which games you're going to play and which I can join?" We'll usually loosely mill around and decide on games on the moment, depending on who takes the initiative, so it really depends on what's available to us and who wants to play which game. Generally, we'll split up in groups, play a game or two, reconvene, and split up in different groups to play a different game. "Do I have to have experience in playing games?" No, usually we'll play some pretty easy-to-learn games that you'll get the hang of in no time. And should you get a taste for slightly more complex games, we have those too! "Can I bring a game of my own?" Yes, absolutely. Just maybe don't bring games that are too complex and might take more than 1 hour to play. Also, don't bring Cards Against Humanity. "Should I bring snacks for everybody?" No, but thank you for offering! "Can I bring snacks and drinks for myself?" You can bring your own food into the hostel but, as mentioned, they do expect us to buy our drinks at the bar. Also, they appreciate it if we clean up after ourselves, i.e. bring back empty glasses and bottles to the bar, put back chairs in their place, throw away trash, etc... "Do I have to speak English?" We prefer it if you could because not everyone in the group speaks Dutch fluently but we're pretty relaxed about it so don't worry too much if you're not that confident in your English speaking skills. "Do you do this every week?‹" Yes. We haven’t missed a board game night since 1977! "Can the Eye see me?" Yes, the Eye sees ALL, but don't worry, it's pretty benign and just wants to know if you're winning or not. ïžđŸ‘ïž
Saturday Morning Coffee - 10:00 @MIR Concept Coffee Store
Saturday Morning Coffee - 10:00 @MIR Concept Coffee Store
Hi everyone, This coffee morning event is @MIR Concept Coffee Store! Saturday, 27 June 2026, from 10:00 - 13:00. MIR opened its doors 4 years ago, right off Place Jourdan. Doriana, the owner, is a super nice host, and is excited to have our group as her café. The café is very beautiful and has great coffee, and many yummy food options. Their Instagram channel: https://www.instagram.com/mirconceptstore/ **The address is:** MIR Concept Coffee Store Rue Gray 4A 1040 Etterbeek *** 1. The **prime time** of the event is **10:30 - 12:30**. That's when most people will be there. 2. When you enter the gallery, it's either on the right-hand side or left-hand side of its hallway, depending which entrance you take. 3. If you intend **to join past 12:00** (high noon), then there is no need to register. Just come and join! 4. **DON'T forget to cancel** if you can't join! 5. **Please, be respectful towards each other during the event. (And after ;))** **As always, feel free to follow us on INSTAGRAM!** [https://instagram.com/weekendmorningcoffee?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==](https://instagram.com/weekendmorningcoffee?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==) **THE STRUCTURE of THE EVENT:** * I will post the event on Saturday/Sunday evening for the following Saturday. * I send out a reminder to everyone on Friday. * There is sometimes a waiting list. * In case RSVP is closed (once there are 10-15 people on the waiting list), I might reopen it on Friday, depending on the number of cancellations in the meantime. * **For everyone on the waiting,** please check your status and messages on Friday evening the latest. I message everyone on the waiting list on Friday. * **Please, move to "not going" AS SOON AS you know that you can't come anymore, that includes everyone who is on the waiting list.** **IMPORTANT:** * **Please, be respectful towards each other during the event. (And after ;))** * When you register yourself, be careful not to register accidentally a +1 guest (unless you bring a guest). It happens very often. * If you have any questions then, message me. *** **A MESSAGE FOR NEWCOMERS:** *In the three years of hosting this coffee group, I have met many people who struggle with anxieties when coming to an event for the first time. Sometimes, it took them more than one attempt before being able to join.* *Occasionally, people reach out to me before the event, and I have always been grateful for that as it offers the opportunity to communicate with each other and to find the best and most gentle way for that person to join the group.* *I would like to encourage everyone who struggles with this to contact me before. It would really be too bad if you can't join us, as it mostly gets better the second or third time you come.* *In addition to that, if you arrive and notice any signs of nervousness or fear, you can always let me know right then.* **THANK YOU AND SEE YOU ALL ON Saturday!**

Pottery on the wheel. Time to try!
Experience the joy of clay and try to throw with the pottery wheel. It will be a fun and relaxing experience where you'll be guided through every step of wheel throwing: from pushing out trapped air bubbles to shaping your first creation: a small vase, a bowl, ... At the end, the artisan will dry and fire your piece and you can pick it up a few weeks later. In any case, you can proudly use your new creation to brighten up your everyday life! **Important to know -** In order to finalise your registration and to get the exact address, you need to get your ticket via the following link. *More dates will be available.* [https://booking.wecandoo.com/artisans/e3d0b1df-486a-4ffe-be53-bd005cfb6840/workshops/922509d7-da08-49ff-8da9-839e022c105f/book](https://booking.wecandoo.com/artisans/e3d0b1df-486a-4ffe-be53-bd005cfb6840/workshops/922509d7-da08-49ff-8da9-839e022c105f/book)
Football match at Parc du Cinquantenaire
Football match at Parc du Cinquantenaire
If you have a ball, please bring it... Let's gather at the Parc du Cinquantenaire close to the Tour de Tournai (https://goo.gl/maps/RsxFtTJydq92) and organize a *low-level* football match on the grass. Unless it rains badly as we're about to play, the game is on. Players of any age, weight, sex and size are allowed. Come as you are, at any time after 4pm. IMPORTANT REMINDER -- As Shitty Players, we don't bite or growl when someone misses the ball. We don't do penalties or yellow cards because we're so gentle we don't need them. We vaguely know of the existence of other rules like off-side but we'd rather ignore them than argue about them. We may or may not keep track of the score: this is a game where everyone wins. To help build the Team, come with 2 t-shirts white and black (or similar colors: light grey and dark blue etc). Beer session will follow on the grass, for those who survive till the end. Tennis doubles (NOT FOR BEGINNERS) - Terdelt Schaerbeek
Tennis doubles (NOT FOR BEGINNERS) - Terdelt Schaerbeek
Hello! This is a meet-up to play tennis from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday. Meeting is on the courts. The courts are booked under the name Jean-Marc. This event is for intermediate and advanced players and not organised for novice players or beginners. Please make sure to bring the exact sum of 10 € in cash. The event is non-commercial. This sum covers the cost of the courts reserved. The organizer is not there to make money out of you. Ladies are encouraged to join. If anyone wants to drop out, they should do it on Saturday morning, not on Sunday the day of the meetup, another wise it would be too late to find a replacement in time or to cancel a court in time with reimbursement. If you don't do this, you will be asked by the organizer to reimburse your participation fee. If this happens too late then those who have cancelled after Saturday morning will have to cover the extra cost for reserving the courts. In the past meetups, it happened too many times that we were an oneven number and because of that all those present had less fun to play. If you don't show up without giving a written excuse in time, the first future participation will be cancelled and you will be asked to reimburse the participation fee. If it happens too many times you will not be able to participate anymore. In case if we are an uneven number of players, then the last player (except the host of course who has to collect the money) can leave or persuade other players to play with him or her. Of course if the last player leaves, then he or she doesn't have to pay the participation fee. If this player leaves, he or she will be added on a future event by the host or organizer in the participation list if the player is far away in the waiting list. This is the advantage of leaving on a voluntary basis;-). We operate on the principle of Fair Play as we do not have umpires or referees. Any disputes or disagreements over line calls or scores should be resolved immediately on the court and, when agreement is not possible, the point or game should be replayed. To be able to replay the game, 3 players need to agree on that without manipulation of the one who disputes an entire game, anotherwise injustice could occur where in the end possibly the biggest cheater could win... This situation applies also, if the host or the organizer is involved. When one of the players still doesn't accept this compromise, then it should be reported (meetup message by preference) to the organizer or host of the meetup event. One of the consequences could be that the first upcoming event could be cancelled by the organizer for the player who doesn't comply with the compromise to play the point or the game again. If the same player does that again for a second time, then the person will see 4 of his next tennis meetups cancelled. If this happens a third time with the same player, then the player in question will be banned from all future tennis meetups with an exclusion as a final result. Whenever there is a big problem, it should be reported as well to the organizer of the group so he can, if necessary, take actions to improve the situation for all the players. Please also note that if you are the first on the waiting list, you will automatically be moved up to the attendance list if someone pulls out. So if you are on the waiting list and see that you cannot attend, please also change your status to not going. If you would like to organize a meet up either this week or next week please get in touch with me, my name is Jean-Marc. It will depend on your initiatives to create more tennis meetups per week.

[Eric Rico: From Joints to Gestures: Reading Hands in Unity] (In-Person) #13
Let's get together and listen to **[Eric Rico](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ericrico/)** from Unity3D (**From Joints to Gestures: Reading Hands in Unity**). A hand tracker gives you joints, not a gesture. This talk shows how you get from raw joints to a "thumbs-up" in Unity: the pipeline that cleans up the data, how a gesture becomes a few 0-to-1 values within tolerance, and why orientation matters as much as finger shape. Includes a live demo of tuning gesture thresholds. Eric also runs the **[Columbus Unity User Group](https://www.meetup.com/columbus-unity-user-group/)**. Check it out! ***Bring your laptop and expect to write some (non-AI-generated) code!*** Food and drinks will be available. **LOCATION:** 6515 Longshore Loop, Suite 300, Dublin, OH 43017 **FREE PARKING:** 6725 Longshore Street, Dublin, OH 43017

Board games at The Forge (theme night: unplayed games)
This week is national unplayed games week, so we encourage you to break out those shrink-wrapped games you bought on a whim but haven't had a chance to try yet. Do your best to learn the game ahead of time to facilitate the process! let's get those dusty ones to the table! The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~20 per person. Soft drink refills are 1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes. We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. Thank you for your continued commitment to providing a fun and welcoming space to veteran, newbie, and rookie gamers in the Columbus area. Parking can sometimes fill esrly. There is additional parking lot behind the neighboring Mexican restaurant that is free and easy to walk from but it's a bit hidden.

You can sleep in on the Sesquicentennial (observed), we’re shifting to the following Friday. But join the local UX community for a chat and some biscuits to catch up. If you were in CA for Figma Config, tell us all the lines and you can tell me how I can animate an SVG without coding it by hand, and why I’d even want to. Thanks to the team at Nationwide of supporting the group.
