Overcoming Average - NoVa Chapter
This group was originally started by Chad Keith who created and hosts a podcast by the same name in Charlotte, NC. I am hoping to continue his legacy here in NoVa as I recently moved to this area. This group is all about finding community around self-improvement and exchanging ideas on how to be your best self and get the most out of life. This group is for anyone who is interested in overcoming average in all areas - career, ambitions, relationships, hobbies, health, everything.
I am so excited to meet driven individuals in the NoVa area so please reach out if you have any questions at all. EVERYONE is welcome so please sign up for an upcoming meetup!

Ditch The Small Talk
**Tired of surface-level conversations?**
Join us for *Ditch the Small Talk*—an evening of deep, real connection with strangers who are down to go there.
We’ll meet in the grass in front of the cathedral, break into small groups, and draw questions from a deck of cards designed to spark vulnerable, honest conversations.
How it works:
Draw a card and ask a question.
Listen. Don't coach or give advice without permission.
Try to ask follow-up questions when people share.
You can spend 1 minute on a question or 1 hour, just go with the flow.
**If you show up late, please don't interrupt the speaker. Just sit down in a group of your choice and they'll bring you up to speed when whoever is talking finishes.
Bring a blanket or chair if you don't want to sit in the grass.
*** Rules***
1. Don't debate politics
2. Keep what is shared in the group within the group
3. If you need to use your phone, step away from your group first

Please update your RSVP at least 12 hours in advance if your plans change.
1. Injuries: Play safely and be mindful of others on the court. Respect positions and avoid risky moves that could lead to injury. If you’re not sure the ball is yours, call it before going for it to avoid collisions.
1. Game Rules: Let’s follow the basic volleyball rules, especially the three-touch rule so we can play properly and improve as a team!
1. Waitlist: The waitlist is not first come first serve. We prioritize regular attendees, and will fill empty spots with new faces closer to the event date.

What’s On Your Spiritual Bucket List? (Free Event)
**MLK Library - Room 302E**
So many of us have a bucket list of things we hope to do or achieve before we “kick the bucket”! But do we also need to consider creating a spiritual bucket list – not just a list of things we want to do, but of things we want to be? And do we wait to one day just become these things, or are these things we can – and should we – be working on right now, day by day?
What makes a bucket list meaningful is that it be a reflection of what you value and desire – a tool to help push ourselves to grow and develop and fulfill our highest aspirations. Things like skydiving, traveling, running a marathon, and buying a house are common to-do’s helping us achieve our material aspirations. But what about considering our ultimate to-do’s to fulfill our spiritual purpose? What if we aspired to grow spiritually, to be kinder and more virtuous people, to help others in need? Do we need to wait for some future time to do these things, or can we actually draw closer every day to achieving these goals through our daily choices and spiritual habits? What would it look like to live a life designed around reaching these spiritual goals and reaching our true, spiritual purpose? How can we support each other in checking off our spiritual bucket lists?
Come join a different kind of conversation – one that welcomes every perspective in a search for the deeper truths that unite us – as we discuss the spiritual perspective offered by the Bahá’í Teachings on fulfilling our spiritual purpose. Please join us for a lively discussion as we explore how we can each live a life of spiritual growth and fulfillment and create communities that support each and every one of us.
*“Material progress insures the happiness of the human world. Spiritual progress insures the happiness and eternal continuance of the soul.”* – Bahá’í Teachings
**\*\*\* This event is free and open to all regardless of background or belief. Donations will not be accepted.**

lunch celebration (last event hosted by William)
Hi friends,
Thank you all for joining our discussion events over the past two years. It's very fun and rewarding for the community.
Sadly, I've decided to step down as the group organizer by the end of June due to other commitments, so this celebration lunch will be the last event I organize for this group.
I will still be around, but I just won't be able to organize any events in the future. Also, if you are interested in taking over as the organizer for this group, please reach out to me. Thanks.

Techniques To Use For a Happier Life!
THIS IS A FREE IN-PERSON MEETUP EVENT.
Unhappiness does not come from your good experiences.
They come from your painful experiences. Some common examples include breakups, abuse, stressful relationships, losing someone, losing status, etc.
People often feel different, less trusting and less self esteem after such incidents.
Unfortunately, these painful memories can continue to affect a person's happiness, often for life.
* Find out why your past is preventing future happiness and fulfillment.
* Learn about an amazing technique that can release those past painful emotions.
In this meeting, we'll talk about an effective tool to FULLY get over the painful experiences, so that you can be free of the mental and emotional impacts from them.
After this meeting, if you need more help, you can also consult with a counselor at no charge.

Men's Group meetup
**The idea for this group is to build a community where men can gather together and build connections & learn and grow from each other.**
How we start each meeting is by each of us checking in with our "roses and thorns" aka what are the good things and the bad things going on in your life recently?
Then we will go into a topic discussion.

1. Confidentiality - EVERYTHING that is shared NEVER leaves this space so that this space remains safe and sacred. There is a zero tolerance policy for this. If a man is in violation of this, they will be permanently removed from the group.
2. Non-Judgement - we respect and honor every man’s truth so that we may receive the same from others. While we may not agree on everything, we commit to respecting every man’s perspectives and engaging in honorable discussion with one another.
3. Be committed - honor your commitment to this group and to yourself. If you attend a meeting, please commit yourself fully to the meeting. Also be committed to your own journey. When we fail, we own it & clean it up.

5. Be supportive - This means always willing to provide encouragement to your fellow men, encourage action and momentum in each other’s lives.. Be willing to challenge each other. Be willing to hold each other accountable.
