đ #InPursuit â A Book Club for Builders, Thinkers, and Doers
đ #InPursuit is a book club for entrepreneurs, creatives, and curious minds who know personal growth fuels business growth.
**See a lot of RSPVPs and wonder how it works? We'll break up into groups of 6-8 to share our insights, then swap groups after 30-45min so you can maximise learning from everybody!**
*Note: this even is not organised by or affiliated with The State Library of Victoria*
**That's what #InPursuit is all about**
Itâs not a traditional book club, itâs a space for people who are actively designing a better life through the pursuit of business, creativity, and personal growth. This event is for anyone #InPursuit of better business, life and relationships.
Instead of reading the same book, we each come prepared to share one powerful insight from something weâve read in the past 3-months. Anything non-fiction thatâs moved us forward.
Whether itâs a mindset shift, a productivity system, a new philosophy, or just a truth that punched us in the gut. This is a place to unpack it together and hear what others are learning too.
Weâre not just here to *read*. Weâre here to *integrate*. Because when we grow, our business and our lives grow too.
**đ Why Join? You'll leave with:**
* 5â10 fresh insights from books you may never have picked up
* Deeper awareness of how others think, lead, and evolve
* New connections with people walking a similar path toward purpose, results, and impact
This isnât a lecture. Itâs a room full of people building themselves while they build the thing.
**đ How It Works**
First time? No pressure to share, just come curious.
We'll break up into groups of 6-8 and share our insights, then swap groups so you can maximise the learning!
Returning? Bring one idea youâve read about in the last 3-months and be ready to speak on:
1. What did you learn?
2. How did it shift your perspective about the world or yourself?
3. How has it changed the way you show up or behave?
We keep it structured, but flexible. After sharing, we open up to Q&A, personal stories, challenges, and deep dives. Some of the best insights come from the conversations *after* the share.
**đ§ Who This Is For**
* Entrepreneurs or side-hustlers finding their footing
* Business owners, and doers building toward better
* Curious minds who love ideas but care more about action
* People tired of shallow conversations and hungry for growth
If youâre working on somethingâor becoming someoneâthis space is for you. Itâs a practice ground for people who want to grow forward.
Weâre all #InPursuit of mastery, momentum, and the kind of success that starts from within.
**Map on how to get there**
We're in the Create Quarter on the ground level (back right of the Quad as you enter from Swanson St). We'll likely be on a long table together.
https://www.slv.vic.gov.au/sites/default/files/SLV-EnglishMap_Jan25.pdf
*If there is no room at a table I'll post on the event page that we'll be going to Mr. Tulk Cafe, which is on the corner of the library at Swanson St and La Trobe St.*

Explore Melbourne is the largest meetup group in Australia with more than 43,000 members. We know these group rules wonât suit everybody, and thatâs okayâthere are many other groups where you might feel more at home. To keep things safe, fun, and positive, we have 8 simple rules for people attending our events. Over the past 9 years, weâve removed 342 people (around 0.8%) for breaking themâso please read carefully!
â Not a dating group â Weâre here to make friends and share experiences, not find soulmates.
đ” No phone numbers â Youâre welcome to swap social media if you both agree, but please donât share or ask for phone numbers. Please donât add people to WhatsApp or other groups.
đ Our events are only open to people aged 18 and older.
đą No advertising â Please donât promote other events, groups, or businesses here.
đ
Donât be clingy â Give people space to mingle and chat with others too.
đ No carpooling â For safety reasons and insurance coverage, we donât allow carpooling or ride-sharing through the group.
đ° No sales pitches â That means no selling, MLMs, pyramid schemes, or âlife-changing mentorships.â Keep it scam-free.
By joining an event, you agree to follow these rules. Breaking them means removal from all our groupsâno exceptions. Thank you!

It is up to you to manage your own risk of injury, as this is social and free. We recommend shin guards and do NOT condone sliding tackles and over-aggressiveness.

Dancing, Brunch and Conversation - "Daybreaker" at Abbotsford Convent
### Meet time
**7:30am sharp â Meet outside Abbotsford Convent**
Weâll have around **15 minutes together *outside* (in front of BIKE SHED) before the event**, which is perfect for a **quick round of friendly introductions** and settling in as a group before heading into "Daybreaker".
### Daybreaker
**8:00am â 10:00am**
Weâll attend "**Daybreaker"** together â an alcohol-free morning dance experience designed to energise your body and mind and start the day feeling alive and present.
"Daybreaker" tickets are booked separately and can be purchased here:
No dance experience needed. Come as you are.
### Brunch + deeper conversation
After "Daybreaker" (10am), weâll meet outside the BIKE SHED again, then head out for **brunch together** (optional but encouraged).
Depending on the group and availability, we may:
* Walk straight into the **Collingwood Childrenâs Farm CafĂ©**, or
* Take a longer walk to a nearby venue such as **Three Bags Full**, **Camâs Kiosk**, or **Jinda Thai**
Weâll decide together on the day.
This is where thereâs space to slow down and deepen conversations. After moving together, itâs often easier to connect and talk about:
* Your experience of Daybreaker
* Dance, music, art, or creativity
* Food, wellbeing, and living healthy
* Life in Melbourne and upcoming events
As with other **Good Conversations Club** events, youâre welcome to arrive exactly as you are.
Thereâs **no pressure to perform or talk constantly**.
Iâll have **conversation prompts available** that youâre welcome to use if youâd like â or not at all. Theyâre simply there to support ease, connection, and better conversations if you want them.
Brunch is where conversations naturally deepen and flow more easily.
### Who this event is for
This event tends to attract people who are **young at heart**, open-minded, and curious about life.
Thereâs no strict age range â youâll likely meet people across different ages who:
* Enjoy movement, music, and shared experiences
* Value meaningful conversation over small talk
* Are open, respectful, and socially aware
If youâre comfortable in mixed-age groups and enjoy connecting beyond labels, youâll likely feel at home.
### Important notes
* Weâll keep pre-event conversation light due to time
* Deeper conversations happen after Daybreaker over brunch
* "Daybreaker" tickets are purchased individually
* Brunch is pay-your-own
This event is about sharing an experience first, then enjoying meaningful, nourishing conversation afterwards.
**Movement first. Conversation after. Connection naturally.**
NOTE: For "Daybreaker"
### **Come ready to dance.**
### **Wear something that lets you move freely.**
### **Bring a water bottle and an open heart.**
### **Leave the rest at the door.**
### **Weâll see you on the dance floor.**
### **Door open at 7:40am**

TBG 35+ Midfield @ Sat 8:45am
This smaller half-pitch match is strictly for **35 years and older** players only, as well as **not for beginners**. You must register to play.
Please arrive on time to lend a hand in setting up the goals. A Roll Call for registered players is conducted. If you arrive late, you will need to join one of the other remaining open-age matches and relinguish your spot for someone who is on the waiting list and has come on-time. Please have the courtesy to de-register if you are unable to attend at all. Please wear a black or white top, or bring both so teams can be easily divided evenly.
We recommend shin guards as the game is competitive and a contact sport. It is up to you to manage your own risk of injury, as this is social and free. However, we do NOT condone sliding tackles and over-aggressiveness.
Please place your possessions in a safe place while the game is running. Your possessions are your own responsibility.

Conversations with the School of Life cards
After some great discussions using these cards, we just had to continue!
"It isn't easy to get into a good conversation. Many of our best ones seem to have happened by chance. Far from it - we believe a great conversation always starts with someone asking a great question.â
The School of Life cards contain questions designed to get a group of people into entertaining and meaningful conversations.
This is a casual, social and fun event where we share our thoughts and experiences with a group.
We can cover topics like: Personality & Emotions, Work & Money, Family & Friendship, Travel, Culture & Taste, depending on the questions that end up being asked on the day.
Please arrive hungry/thirsty for us to keep up a good relationship with the venue that allows us to host our events.

Thought Experiment: Dark Forest
Ever wondered how humanity would respond to an asteroid heading for Earth? Or how the world might react to first contact with aliens?
Welcome to **The Thought Experiment** â a new kind of meetup where we explore big *âWhat ifâŠ?â* scenarios in a fun but thoughtful way. Each session, weâll pick one scenario (from global crises to wild sci-fi situations) and work together to imagine solutions, strategies, and possibilities.
This is for **curious minds of all kinds** â students, professionals, creatives, or anyone who enjoys thinking differently. Some people might bring research, others just bring imagination. Either way, weâll brainstorm together and see where the discussion takes us.
[Thought Experiment Site](https://thoughtexperiment.au/)
**We ask everyone to Buy a drink at the venue**
**You Need to have Conversational English.**
**Format:**
* Quick intro to the scenario
* Small-group discussions
* Share back with the group
* Wrap up + (optional) post-discussion drinks
For our first meetup, weâll introduce the format, get to know each other, and jump into a scenario together.

Coming in the Cosmic Dread Series
Far from cities, far from interference, the data kept coming.
Nothing arrived.
Nothing announced itself.
Stars simply began to vanish.
Not violently.
Not accidentally.
Always near places
that might have mattered.
The system noticed first.
Not as a warning.
As a correction.
If you wanted to end life,
you wouldnât target the life.
You would destroy the cradle.
And whoever is doing this
is patient.
Every act points
somewhere else.
Tonight, there is no invasion.
No defense.
No escape.
Only the question of whether
being noticed
was the first mistake.

Maribyrnong Meandering Mixer - 15km - Easy/Moderate
**đż Maribyrnong Meander: Flirty River Ramble & PicnicSaturday 7 February â 9:30** a.m. start (arrive from 9:15 a.m.)
Boathouse CafĂ© â Canning Reserve â Boathouse CafĂ© (15 km return)
Long but an easy to moderate walk.
***\#\#\# Before you consider joining this event\, read the group rules section at the end \#\#\#***
Ready to stretch your legs, your social muscles, and maybe your flirtation radius? Join us for a long, lazy, exploratory wander along the Maribyrnong Riverâan easy, flat 15 km return thatâs perfect for conversation, curiosity, and seeing who naturally drifts into step beside you.
Weâll meet at the Boathouse CafĂ© in Moonee Ponds, where the early birds can caffeinate, snack, or casually âaccidentallyâ bump into someone over a croissant. If you want breakfast, best to get there at 8.30 am. At 9:30 a.m. sharp, we set off at a relaxed, chat-friendly pace. This route is new to the organiser (yes, weâre all discovering together), so expect a little adventure, a lot of scenery, and the occasional âIs this the right path?â bonding moment.
Around the halfway point, weâll settle into Canning Reserve for a picnic lunchâbring whatever fuels you, whether thatâs sandwiches, strawberries, or strategic snack-sharing. After lunch, weâll wander back along the river to the Boathouse CafĂ©, sun-kissed, endorphin-lit, and pleasantly tired.
**Please Note**
*As I am removing No Shows from the group I get a lot of people **flaking** just prior to the registration cut off, usually not giving people on the waitlists fair warning to attend. If there is a waitlist and you're on it and would still like to come (i.e. Under 21 people registered to attend which is my max number) contact me to put you on the going list*.
**đ What to bring**
* Sunscreen, water (1 or 2 litres) and snacks, small backpack
Sun hat or parasol
* Comfortable walking clothes and shoes (runners or better)
* A light picnic lunch
* Your best riverside banter
* A sense of exploration (the route is flat?⊠presumably). I've not done it before.
**đ€ What not to b ring**
Purses, tote bags, long dresses, shoes more appropriate for Chadstone than long walks. Jeans aren't a great idea.
**đĄïž Weather note**
If the temperature forecast is set to go above 33°C during the walk , the walk may be cancelledâbecause heatstroke is not a meet-cute.
**đ Public transport**
Catch the 57 tram from Elizabeth St and hop off at Stop 41 (Maribyrnong Park). From there, itâs an easy stroll to the cafĂ©.
Come for the walk, stay for the company, and let the river do the mood lighting.
**Optional extension**, depending on how people feel I may extend the walk by another 4km to Flemington via the wetlands and the racecourse.
**â ïž Group Rules & Event Etiquette â ïž**
These are basic, commonsense standards that keep events safe, smooth, and enjoyable for everyone.
**đ Fitness Requirements**
Walking: 3â4 km/hr for 15km with few breaks
We walk at a relaxed pace. Please ensure you meet the fitness level for the event. If the group is forced to wait excessively, you may be asked to leave the event.
**âčïž Pace: Too Fast or Too Slow**
Small social events rely on staying together. If you prefer a very different pace, consider going solo, joining a faster/slower group, or choosing events that match your fitness.
**đ©âđŒ Time Constraints**
If youâre on a tight schedule, this may not be the right event. Social activities rarely run exactly on time.
**â ïž CRITICAL EXPECTATIONS â ïž**
**đ» NoâShows**
Noâshows block waitlisted people from attending and disrupt small-group events.
* Remove yourself at least 24 hours before the event.
* Noâshows will likely be removed and blocked from the group.
* Lastâminute cancellations **(âflakingâ)** may also result in group removal, especially when there is a waitlist.
**đ Attending Without Being on the Going List**
This is a security issue.
**Do NOT turn up unannounced**.
If youâre not on the Going list and havenât arranged it with the organiser beforehand, you will be asked to leave. Event checkâins are performed.
**â° Late Arrivals**
If youâre late, the group will not wait.
* You may be marked as a NoâShow and removed from the group.
* Itâs your responsibility to communicate and catch upâthis may not be possible for some events.
**đČ Second Chances**
If something goes wrong, communicate with the organiser. Silence + poor behaviour = removal. Communication + accountability = second chances. As the organiser is busy organising this may be impossible during the event.
**đ©Disclaimer: No Liability & Organiser IndemnityBy participating in this event, you acknowledge and accept full personal responsibility for your own safety, wellbeing, and belongings. The organiser assumes no liability for injury, loss, or damage incurred during the activity. Participation is entirely at your own risk.**

Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations.
If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!).
**HOW IT WORKS**
**Step 1: Bring a topic**
Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event.
**Step 2: Circle up & share**
We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds.
**Step 3: Walk, talk & float**
We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!"
**Step 4: Feel more alive**
Two hours flies by. You're back where you started â but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times.
*For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)*
**HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC**
A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about.
Recent topics include:
* "What are you passionate about right now?"
* "What makes a good friend?"
* "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?"
* "How do you want to be remembered?"
* "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?"
Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter.
**WHAT TO EXPECT**
This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.*
But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here.
**FAQ**
* Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk!
* We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space.
* We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space.
* Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know.
* Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome â please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic!

* If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event.
* This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs.
* Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details.
* If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. đ€ đ

Men's Group meetup
**The idea for this group is to build a community where men can gather together and build connections & learn and grow from each other.**
How we start each meeting is by each of us checking in with our "roses and thorns" aka what are the good things and the bad things going on in your life recently?
Then we will go into a topic discussion.
\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-
**COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS**
\*\*THERE WILL BE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR NO-SHOWS. IF YOU RSVP TO A MEETING AND FAIL TO SHOW UP WITHOUT NOTICE, YOU'LL BE REMOVED FROM THE GROUP. THIS IS TO PRESERVE THE INTEGRITY OF THE GROUP\*\*
1. Confidentiality - EVERYTHING that is shared NEVER leaves this space so that this space remains safe and sacred. There is a zero tolerance policy for this. If a man is in violation of this, they will be permanently removed from the group.
2. Non-Judgement - we respect and honor every manâs truth so that we may receive the same from others. While we may not agree on everything, we commit to respecting every manâs perspectives and engaging in honorable discussion with one another.
3. Be committed - honor your commitment to this group and to yourself. If you attend a meeting, please commit yourself fully to the meeting. Also be committed to your own journey. When we fail, we own it & clean it up.
4. Speak from the heart - this is NOT a space to âlook goodâ, have the ârightâ answers, and have it all together. Relax and know you are not alone. Be exactly who you are within the safety of this space.
5. Be supportive - This means always willing to provide encouragement to your fellow men, encourage action and momentum in each otherâs lives.. Be willing to challenge each other. Be willing to hold each other accountable.
6. Participation - what you receive from this community will be a reflection of what you put into it. Period. We ask that you share your perspectives, reflect on others, and give/receive support when and where itâs needed.
Shut Up & Write!Âź Easton Town Center
We'll meet at The Capital One Café, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator.
Join us on Sunday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking!
âą What we'll do
Join us for an hour of writing! Weâve discovered that itâs strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if itâs true for you at noon on Sundays.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
12:00 - quick intros.
12:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
1:10 - chat / take off / keep writing.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 1-1:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you!
âą What to bring
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible.
See you at The Café on Sunday!
