Young LGBTQ+ Professionals Drinks
\*\* Please RSVP - this helps the venue plan ahead and ensure enough space is reserved for us \*\*
Hey everyone!
Are you a young professional in your 20s/30s looking to meet other LGBT young professionals? Then we hope to see you at the upcoming Tuesday drinks! Most people come to these drinks by themselves, and half of the people are first-timers, so these evenings are great to meet new people in London.
We have tables reserved on the top floor (loft) of The Yard bar in Soho. Go into the Yard, turn left, and head upstairs. Just ask the bar for the tables reserved for the "Meetup". We usually have the tables opposite to the bar.
Many have noticed that it can be difficult to meet up with the LGBT community once you leave university or come to a big new city such as London. For this reason we've decided to start organising drinks for young professionals, intended for those who love to have a drink with like-minded people after a busy day of work. Do spread the word, and bring friends, colleagues and family!
Frequently Asked Questions:
It's my first time and I'm coming alone, should I be nervous?
No, you found the right event! Almost everyone joins these drinks alone and there are always a bunch of first timers. Just grab a drink and say hi to those around the reserved tables and you'll be absolutely fine :)
I cannot make it at 7.00pm, can I come later?
Yes, definitely! There will always be one of the organisers present from 7.00pm onwards, but most people just join whenever they can. There is no official 'start' so to say, and it usually stays busy till around 10pm-11pm. For first timers it can be easier to mingle if you come before 8pm, when it's not that busy yet.
How often are the drinks and where are they held?
We have drinks every two weeks from 7.00pm at The Yard Bar in Soho. Sometimes we organise other events such as big nights out, pub crawls and picnics. Just keep an eye on the Meetup page.
Is there a dress code?
Nope, not at all. Just wear whatever you want.
Is there a cost?
Only for whatever drinks you buy at the bar.
That said, if you enjoy the Meetup, we would really welcome any cash donations to help cover our costs for running the events. However, you will never be directly asked for any money from any of our team.
Are the Tuesday drinks for networking?
No, the drinks are super casual, and not intended to find your new dream job. We have people from all different professional backgrounds, so it's always cool to hear what others are up to.
I don't drink alcohol, can I come?
Of course! Since it's on a Tuesday many take it easy, so you won't be an outlier.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to pop any of our organisers a message. Looking forward to meeting you all!

June Book Club Meetup: Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke
London's Friendly Book Club's pick for June is **Yesteryear** by **Caro Claire Burke**.
Natalie lives a traditional lifestyle – and has the social media accounts to prove it. Her charming farmhouse on her working ranch is artfully cluttered, her husband is a handsome cowboy, her homemade sourdough boules are each more beautiful than the last. So what if there are nannies and producers and industrial-grade ovens behind the scenes? What Natalie’s followers don’t know won’t hurt them.
Then, one morning, Natalie wakes up in a strange, horrible version of reality. Her home, her husband, her children—they’re all familiar, but something’s off. Is this a hoax? A reality show? A test from God? Natalie knows just two things for sure: this isn't her perfect life, and she must escape, by any means possible.
[[Now being adapted into a major film starring Anne Hathaway.]]
Please only RSVP if you think you'll be able to make this event. **We host three sessions per book, you only need to attend one.**
Everyone is welcome! Grab your copy and join us for a relaxed and engaging discussion.
Speed Dating in Old St | Ages 30 to 45
BOOK YOUR TICKET 👉🏼 [HERE](https://itsadate.club/event/speed-dating-in-old-street-5/).
Single? Aged 30–45? Ready to meet new people? Perfect — this event is for you! Join us for 15 fun, fast-paced dates with like-minded singles all looking to make genuine connections. Expect great conversation, a relaxed atmosphere, and an effortless way to meet people face-to-face.
The semi-private mezzanine at Old Street Tavern provides the perfect setting for your event — a cosy and intimate yet energising environment, ideal for introductions to 30 like-minded single guests. Stylish yet relaxed, the venue attracts a fun crowd of locals and professionals alike, all looking to meet someone new. So, if that sounds like your kind of evening, this one’s for you!
Our host will be at the venue ready to welcome you at 19:30. Please arrive on time for registration, to grab any drinks from the bar, and receive a summary of how things will work. You will be given an optional name sticker, a pen, and note card to keep track of everyone you’ve met.
Ladies will be seated on tables adequately spaced, discreetly numbered, and arranged in a comfortable area of the venue. When speed dating commences, gents will join ladies for 5-minute dates to get to know one another. Your host will notify all guests at the end of each date, signalling for gents to move to the next table in ascending numerical order.
During table rotations you will have a moment to record on note cards your feelings towards the previous date and intention to reconnect, for your reference only.
Mid-way through the evening, your host will indicate a 15-minute comfort break to use the rest room, head to the bar, or socialise with new connections. Dating will then resume for the second half of the evening.
At the end of the speed dating the bar will remain open for more socialising. You can then access the event listing in your dashboard to enter feedback on dates and await your matches.
If you have any questions on the event or how things will work, please get in contact with James on 07517 065 492 or [james@itsadate.club](mailto:james@itsadate.club).
The Annual London Hike
**Date - Tuesday 16th June 2026**
**Title - Docklands & The Isle Of Dogs**
**Description - Please read carefully!**
This year the London Hike will start at Canary Wharf and consist of a walk around the Docklands district and the Isle Of Dogs.
We will be waterside for a large proportion of the walk, although it also includes some off road trails through the largest urban farm in Europe (where we will see sheep, pigs, geese and ducks), parkland, and the newly gentrified Millwall!
Expect stunning modern architecture, some period buildings, superyachts, bridges, a tunnel, and numerous historic buildings.
We will gather at the start point, (read the instructions carefully, at 12:00 / noon / midday) for a four hour trundle with stops. Lunch (BYO) will be our first stop in some delightful gardens, then afternoon tea in a lovely park, (with cafe facilities and a toilet), overlooking Greenwich. We will ‘rest a while’ with a cold beer, (or coffee), afterwards, in a pub with a large interior and a huge waterside garden area.
As we will be a big group, and so we don’t lose anyone, please keep up and between the walk leader and the back marker, who will be in radio contact with each other.
I will advise which route and train nearer the time which we will be using to get to the start point efficiently & comfortably from Brighton. If you wish to join us on that journey please let me know and be at the railway station in Brighton in good time.

June Book Club: Dust Child by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai
Hi everyone, in June our theme was books set in or related to places we’ve recently travelled to. Dust Child was the winner! Synopsis below:
Finalist for the 2024 Dayton Literary Peace Prize. From the bestselling author of The Mountains Sing, a richly poetic and suspenseful saga about two Vietnamese sisters, an American veteran, and an Amerasian man whose lives intersect in surprising ways, set during and after the war in Việt Nam.
"Powerful and deeply empathetic. A heartbreaking tale of lost ideals, human devotion, and hard-won redemption. Dust Child establishes Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai as one of our finest observers of the devastating consequences of war, and proves, once more, her ability to captivate readers and lure them into Viet Nam's rich and poignant history."―Viet Thanh Nguyen, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Sympathizer and The Committed
In 1969, sisters Trang and Quỳnh, desperate to help their parents pay off debts, leave their rural village to work at a bar in Sài Gòn. Once in the big city, the young girls are thrown headfirst into a world they were not expecting. They learn how to speak English, how to dress seductively, and how to drink and flirt (and more) with American GIs in return for money. As the war moves closer to the city, the once-innocent Trang gets swept up in an irresistible romance with a handsome and kind American helicopter pilot she meets at the bar.
Decades later, an American veteran, Dan, returns to Việt Nam with his wife, Linda, in search of a way to heal from his PTSD; instead, secrets he thought he had buried surface and threaten his marriage. At the same time, Phong--the adult son of a Black American soldier and a Vietnamese woman--embarks on a mission to find both his parents and a way out of Việt Nam. Abandoned in front of an orphanage, Phong grew up being called "the dust of life," "Black American imperialist," and "child of the enemy," and he dreams of a better life in the United States for himself, his wife Bình, and his children.
Past and present converge as these characters come together to confront decisions made during a time of war--decisions that reverberate throughout one another's lives and ultimately allow them to find common ground across race, generation, culture, and language. Immersive, moving, and lyrical, Dust Child tells an unforgettable story of how those who inherited tragedy can redefine their destinies with hard-won wisdom, compassion, courage, and joy.
See you there 🍹
