WOODWORK â STEP UP LOW WOOD STOOL â EVENINGS
**Bookable via our website âĄïž** [https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/woodwork-step-up-low-wood-stool-6-evenings-4/](https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/woodwork-step-up-low-wood-stool-6-evenings-4/)
âââ
This lovely six-week evening course is another charming project from our cherished Edwardian instructional woodwork manual, âCarpentry for Beginnersâ. The projects in the book are perfect for learning basic woodwork skills and we have refined the instructions to incorporate a modern craft construction.
This classic âchildâs stoolâ is a handy âhop upâ you can use if you have shelves you canât reach at home and small ones can reach the sink by standing on it. It measures 40cm x 22cm x 26cm high. We use a redwood pine wood that releases a heady and uplifting scent when cut, chiseled, and planed.
Even if you have never used any tools, our expert makers will teach you the processes you will need to take home a future heirloom along with a very special sense of satisfaction that comes with crafting by hand.
Over six evenings you will learn how to measure and mark timber accurately, use a chisel and a vintage âGrannyâs toothâ hand router to cut out grooves to house the legs into the sides of the stool.
By the time you have finished your useful step-up stool, you will have become familiar with many of the basic woodworking hand tools and increased your confidence to go on and do more general woodwork at home.
All use of tools and materials included.

MAKE A WOOD CHAIR â 12 EVENINGS
**Bookable via our website âĄïž** [https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/make-a-wood-chair-12-evenings-20/](https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/make-a-wood-chair-12-evenings-20/)
âââ
A brand new varied and multi-skill twelve-week evening course.
Over twelve evenings you will learn how to make a planked redwood seat and fit splayed oak or sapele legs and back rails to make an elegant âStakedâ chair.
This version is derived from an âopen sourceâ drawing in the Anarchistâs Design Book by Lost Art Press. The prototype has been made by the tutor- Auram Desforge, who grew up working on timber frame houses with his father in Canada.
Each stage of the process will be demonstrated and then, using mostly traditional hand tools, you will produce a chair using the classic âThrough wedged tenonsâ with an elegant, curved back created from glueing together bent veneers in a press. You will be able to learn the pleasure of handling spokeshaves, a âbit and braceâ and fine finishing with cabinet scrapers. There is also some use of our workshop machines that you will be trained to use.
Learn to measure, mark and make. Use the evenings to immerse yourself into the calming mental space of woodwork.
Suitable for beginners. Trust the tools. You donât have to be a lumberjack to master this chair.
The use of all materials and tools is included.

Unspoken: An Intimate Women's Get-Together in the Park (London)
Have you been feeling like no matter what you say, others don't understand?
Like there isn't a safe space for you to speak?
So tired of explaining yourself that not saying anything is easier?
If yes, this get-together is for you.
**What is Unspoken?**
Unspoken is an intimate, in-person get-together for 9 women in London, held in a beautiful park with a small cafe. It's a space where we share our truth surrounded by women who will actually listen. Not question, not advise, not judge, not fix... Just listen.
This isn't a workshop. There's no teaching, no framework, no agenda. It's a soft afternoon outdoors, where women come to finally say what they've been holding, or to listen to others doing the same.
**Why I'm hosting this**
I'm Eva, the founder of Heart X Mind, a neuroscience-informed approach to identity and emotional wellbeing. A couple of months ago, during a meditation, I had a vision of women gathered around me in a park, vibrating at a sacred frequency, speaking a truth only they could understand. I didn't know what it meant... Until recently.
I'd been struggling to use my voice for weeks. So I sat in meditation and asked myself what I truly wanted. The answer came fast and clear: 'Listen.'
The second I said it, my shoulders dropped, my body softened, and the vision came back more vivid than ever.
A beautiful get-together of women where all I do is give them space to speak their truth. Because they need to be heard. And all they need from me right now is to listen.
This is why I've created Unspoken.
**What the afternoon will look like**
We meet at a park with a beautiful little cafe. We grab snacks, a coffee, whatever feels good, and then we do whatever our body tells us to. If you want to share what's been weighing on you, you share. If you want to listen, you listen. If you want to lay in the grass and look at the sky, you do that. This is YOUR space.
**Why 9 women only**
To respect the sacred energy. 9 in numerology symbolises the closing of cycles. Today we close the cycle where you shrink your voice, and open the one where you unapologetically speak your truth.

IN PERSON WORKSHOP - AN INTRODUCTION TO GARDENING THE BIODYNAMIC WAY
IN PERSON WORKSHOP - AN INTRODUCTION TO GARDENING THE BIODYNAMIC WAY
WITH DR SUE PEAT AND DOUGLAS DAVIDSON
**Biodynamics is an organic method of cultivation, arising out of Rudolf Steinerâs Spiritual research. It works with the rhythms of the movements of the sun, moon, planets and stars to which the plants respond. The workshop will cover the background**
**to the biodynamic planting calendar and using the biodynamic preparations. Itâs coming up to summer and so we will focus on sharing seasonal tips for sewing, growing and most importantly making good compost!**
**For the last hour weâll stir the horn manure preparation (known as 500), so bring an empty screw top bottle if you would like to take some home. A 500ml bottle is enough for an average garden. The workshop is suitable for those new to biodynamics and for anyone who would like to give their garden, window boxes, street trees or house plants a summer treat!**
***Sue and Douglas are enthusiastic gardeners with lots of practical experience of biodynamic gardening.***
**All welcome, no need to book. ÂŁ10 / ÂŁ5, ( a charge is made because additional costs are incurred for this workshop. )**

**đââïž At 6:30pm we'll run, walk or cycle to do a 30-40 minute task.**
**đââïž Then we'll head back to where we started by 8:15pm, do some stretches and maybe grab a beverage?**
It's FREE. It's fun. It's fulfilling. And we're a very friendly bunch. đ

**FAQ**
Not sure you'll keep up? GoodGym is for everyone (18+). Whether you've never run before, or are chasing a marathon PB, you are 100% welcome. We always have a back-marker so no one gets left behind.
70% of GoodGym members start as non-runners so if you're new to this kind of thing you will be supported by people who are all on the same journey. đ
What do I need to wear? Most of us wear gym/running gear. Make sure you're prepared for the weather.
Don't feel like you're fit enough? Our tasks are simple and fun. There are easy jobs as well as more challenging things for those who want a workout! The choice is always yours.
Do I need to bring anything? Gardening gloves are really useful for a lot of GoodGym tasks. And a head torch too if itâs likely to get dark. Please bring some if you can but thereâs no requirement đ§€đĄđ§€
What is GoodGym? We're a (really lovely) group of people who use our energy to make a difference in our local community (and in communities across the UK!). We often meet on a weeknight, at least once a week, for a session to do good and get fit. We'd love you to come and join us. Any questions, just pop a comment below or send me a message.
