**Step away from the pace of everyday life and spend a day immersed in the quiet rhythm of batik.** Batik is a traditional wax-resist textile art where patterns emerge slowly through the interaction of hot wax and dye. The process invites patience, attention, and a different sense of time — one where the act of making becomes as important as the final piece. In this studio workshop we will explore the traditional batik tulis process using canting (the wax drawing tool) and dye. The day unfolds gradually: observing how wax flows, how colour layers develop, and how patterns begin to reveal themselves on cloth. Working with batik often becomes a quiet conversation between intention and discovery — balancing moments of control with moments of letting go as the wax and dye take their course. Drawing manga often seems complicated and intimidating at first glance. The expressive eyes, distinctive features, and dynamic characters lead many to believe that years of experience are required. But this manga drawing workshop addresses that very fact: drawing manga is much easier than you think when you learn the right basics and are guided step by step. In my manga drawing workshops, children and teenagers learn the most important manga drawing techniques in a playful and easy-to-understand way. The course is structured so that it is easy to understand even without prior knowledge and provides a sense of accomplishment from the very beginning. The goal is to dispel participants' fear of drawing and foster their creativity. All necessary materials are included in the course, so you don't need to bring anything. Drawing paper, pencils, and other materials are provided on site. Warm-up and Sketching Exercises (10–15 minutes) We begin by loosening up our hands with simple drawing exercises and quick sketches. These help develop confidence in your lines and allow you to start drawing in a relaxed way. Basics: Manga Faces (approx. 30 minutes) You will learn step by step how typical manga faces are constructed – from the basic shape and proportions to the eyes, nose, mouth, and facial expression. Drawing a Manga Character Together (45–60 minutes) Afterwards, we will put what we have learned into practice and draw a complete manga character together. We normally meet a few times a month during the week from 6-8pm. We will occasionally meet on weekends during daytime hours.
