[Hiking Series]M'sia-Gunung Berembun Jelebu(1014m) + WW2 Plane Crash Site
**\*If interested, please whatsapp** [wa.me/+6588842635](wa.me/+6588842635) **or +65 8884 2635! Sign-ups *are only confirmed after contacting us and joining the WA group! \****
Gunung Berembun Jelebu (1,014m) is an interesting hike with the chance of visiting a WWII plane crash site, while hiking through a dense rainforest with waterfalls and streams, and fallen trees. There are many "Gunung Berembun" but this is the one located in Negiri Sembilan! We will be doing the classic route via Kampung Pantai.
It is considered a full day hike, slightly shorter than Ophir. This is usually used as a training hike, and exposure to different elements and exploring a more raw trail, rather than a hike for the view itself.
**Who is this for?**
* It is most suitable for those who just want an interesting full-day hike out similar to Ophir, but less curated than the usual ones.
* It serves as a good training or progressive hike for those who wish to do more hiking. Most do it as general training for hikes.
* Wish to experience a more raw rainforest trail with less crowds, and different elements
* Wish to do a full-day hike nearby without travelling so far
* Wish to see a WWII plane crash site and wreckage
* Not for those who are hunting for a beautiful viewpoint at the summit
**How tough is it/How fit do I have to be?**
Duration: \~5h up, and 4h down. You can u-turn at the summit instead of going to the crash site.
Distance: \~7km one way, total of 14km.
It is generally tropical forest trail, with some river, rope portions.
However, if you have done other Malaysia hikes before like Gunung Datuk/Lambak/Ophir before, the terrain is not that much of a surprise, except it is more raw. With the presence of streams, please do expect leeches!
**Estimated Itinerary: (Saturday)**
\~12.00 am : Meet @ Marsiling MRT
4.30 am : Breakfast
6:30 am : Reach Kampung Pantai Baru Trailhead. Start hike. Walk/4WD in for 2km.
10.00 am : Gunung Berembun Summit
11.30 am : WWII Crash Site
12:30 pm : Gunung Berembun Summit (lunch)
4:00 pm : Descend back to trailhead. Wash up and exit.
5.00 pm â 11.00pm : Dinner and head back to Singapore.
***Itinerary is subject to changes based on conditions and group speed and trek leader's discretion***
Price: **$140**

"The Lover" by Marguerite Duras
\*Please note the change of venue. We are no longer able to meet at Charlies and will be looking for a new venue.
!!! Beware of scams! If you have been contacted about featuring your work at our meetings or have been asked for any kind of payment it is a scam.
Country: France/Vietnam
Written in: 1984
Pages: 177
An appropriate title for a book to read over Valentines, although it may not be an aspirational love story. The good news is it is a shorter read!
From the back cover of the book:
A modern classic and international bestseller with more than one million copies in print, The Lover has been celebrated by critics and readers across the globe since its first publication in 1984.
Set in the prewar Indochina of Marguerite Duras's childhood, this is the haunting tale of a tumultuous affair between an adolescent French girl and her Chinese lover. In spare yet luminous prose, Duras evokes life on the margins of Saigon in the waning days of France's colonial empire, and its representation in the passionate relationship between two unforgettable outcasts.

**New to the Hungry Hundred Book Club?** Here's what you need to know:
1. Read the book (If you don't manage to finish it by the meetup date, don't worry. As long as you're not going to be too disappointed by spoilers, you're still welcome to join.)
2. Come to the meeting, usually (but not always!) on the last Sunday of every month.
3. Be prepared to order food/drink at the venue to show our appreciation for letting us use their space. This is a requirement. A lot of time and effort has been put into finding a place that will accommodate our group without an outrageous minimum charge or rental fee, and you'll never be asked to contribute to organiser fees, so please show your respect and support for the restaurant that's letting us use their space.
4. Discuss! It's a casual conversation, so don't be afraid to ask questions and let us know what you think.

CBusData - Discover the Power of Window Functions
Window functions have nothing to do with the Windows operating system but provide a âwindowâ to a result set when used in SQL queries. They are powerful, set-based methods to view data in unexpected ways. Window functions provide easy, set-based solutions to solve some common problems:
* Using running totals
* Performing operations in intervals
* Identifying data gaps and islands
* Performing aggregates without losing detail
Many people are confused by window functions and do not know how to use them properly. This session will explore window functions, how they work, and how to use them. Demonstrations with several examples will solidify how window functions can simplify queries and make them more powerful.
