How To Get Motivated
Come along and learn about the five ways to address a problem, handling backlogs, and what exactly control is.
50+ Filmmakers/Actors Gather Every Wednesday - Join Us!
Join us every **Wednesday at 5 PM** at the Emporium food court (located behind Grill’d Burger Restaurant in the CBD, not near Melbourne Station) for a dynamic networking event tailored for filmmakers, actors, and film enthusiasts. Afterward, we continue the evening with Happy Hour drinks at a nearby bar and a chance to grab dinner together. Understanding that schedules vary, feel free to join at any time that suits you. Rain or shine, our community has gathered every week for the past year, maintaining a consistent and welcoming environment.
Our group has grown remarkably, with a **weekly turnout of over 50 participants**, blending newcomers with regulars to create a vibrant, diverse community. Feel free to bring friends interested in filmmaking; it’s a great way to introduce new faces to our expanding network.
Whether you’re a writer, actor, animator, or independent filmmaker, come share your experiences, discuss current projects, or chat about favorite films. This event fosters connections among like-minded individuals, encourages friendships, and opens doors for collaboration.
At **7 PM**, we move to The Carlton Club, a five-minute walk away, where we continue networking in a more formal rooftop setting over drinks and food. This change of venue offers an ideal environment to keep conversations flowing.
**RSVP** to help us gauge attendance and become part of a growing network of film professionals and enthusiasts. Though the event begins in the afternoon, the relationships you build here can last well into the night and beyond.
**What to Expect:**
*Our Wednesday meetup is primarily a large networking event for industry professionals. There’s no set theme, workshop, or speaker. It’s a relaxed gathering where filmmakers, actors, and creatives can connect, discuss projects, share needs, and learn from each other. Conversations flow freely around the table, fostering an environment of growth and camaraderie. Beyond Wednesdays, we also host exclusive events such as table reads, cinematography workshops with Panasonic, member screenings, and more. Each week brings fresh dialogues—some participants discuss their weekend shoots, others exchange insights with seasoned producers and directors, and a few engage in filmmaking exercises. It’s a space designed for creative engagement without strict structure or formal oversight.*
*Note: Our community emphasizes collaboration, friendship, and goodwill rather than promotional activities. If you wish to promote a workshop, course, screening, or similar event, please contact the organizers first. Promotional privileges are generally reserved for trusted, long-standing members.

9am Christmas Morning Meditation in Edinborough Gardens, Fitzroy North.
**About the Session -** *Light Within, Light Around.*
A warm Christmas morning meditation to help you begin the day with softness, inner brightness, and a sense of gentle companionship, no matter what your Christmas looks like this year. Before the energy, memories, or emotions of the day gather, this hour is a gentle way to settle into your body and connect with a quieter, steadier space inside yourself.
This session is especially supportive if you’re spending the day alone, navigating family dynamics, feeling tender or reflective, or simply wanting a moment of warmth and grounding before the day unfolds. We’ll be lying on the grass beneath the Christmas morning sky, allowing nature, breath, and stillness to soothe the nervous system and bring you back to yourself.
**This session is designed to help you:**
• Feel the warmth of your own inner light.
• Anchor into steadiness before a the day.
• Let the intensity of the season soften in your body.
• Regulate and calm your nervous system.
• Feel held, accompanied, and quietly supported by the morning.
**We’ll begin with Yoga Nidra,** a guided deep-rest practice where you simply lie down, get comfortable, and allow your body to soften. There is nothing to perform or achieve. Once you’re settled, staying still helps your system drop into deeper rest while I guide your awareness gently through the body, helping the mind unwind and open.
**From there, we’ll move into a visual meditation** themed around inner light, the glow within you that warms, steadies, and expands. Through imagery of sunlit warmth, gentle radiance, and a feeling of being held by both inner and outer light, this practice helps release emotional heaviness, invite comfort, and welcome the kind of companionship that comes from within. The experience is deeply soothing and designed for anyone who wants warmth, grounding, and presence on Christmas morning.
**No experience is needed,** this session is beginner-friendly and fully guided from start to finish.

Volleyball Training and Games - Intermediate - B Level (PVGC)
Welcome to Melbourne Volleyball Academy! 🤗
**[[WHAT]]**
This session will be broken into 2 halves, 1st half is training and the 2nd half is games. Please arrive on time as we will start exactly at 6:30 PM.
Our intention is to have this training be the 'next step' after our beginner-level training at North Melbourne Community Centre.
We will be focusing on learning what specific roles on the court entail, improving 'volleyball IQ', breaking bad habits, and building better techniques.
**[[WHERE]]**
The session will be held as Pascoe Vale Girls College.
Please enter via Cornwall Road through the back gates as other entrances onto the campus will be closed
**[[WHO]]**
The training is intended for social volleyball players at the intermediate level or 'B' level (for more details on volleyball levels, please visit our site here: https://melbournevolleyballacademy.com.au/skill-levels-explained).
Players are expected to:
* have strong fundamentals
* pass freeballs and serve receive consistently
* understand 4-2 system (pass middle rotation)
* have some knowledge of 5-1 (1 setter all around) or 6-2 (back row setter only) systems
* understand 'base defense'
* help others and have good sportsmanship
If you are a high intermediate (BB) or advanced player (A) you are more than welcome to join but you may find our open play sessions for BB/A level players more suitable.
For players that are at the beginner level, we suggest attending our training on Fridays at North Melbourne Community Centre 6-9PM as beginners may find the drills and level of play too difficult.
Players will be asked to attend a different session if their play is deemed unsafe or if they are not of the appropriate skill level.
**[[HOW MUCH]]**
$21 card payment will be collected on the day via square (EFTPOS) payment.
**[[WHEN]]**
The stadium is booked for 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM. However, feel free to come early and stretch as the stadium is open earlier.
**Last-minute dropouts and no-shows will have a zero-tolerance policy going forward.**
All players are expected to **update their RSVP at least 24 hours** in advance if they are unable to attend. This applies to players on the going list and the waitlist.
**[[THINGS TO BRING]]**
We ask that you bring:
* Water bottle
* Appropriate footwear for indoor court shoes - netball shoes, volleyball shoes, or basketball shoes would be suitable.
* Wear contacts or sports glasses if possible.
**[[OTHER DETAILS]]**
Only those on the “going” list are permitted to play. If you are on the waitlist, or not registered at all, you will not be permitted to play.
Free Boxing Day Meditation - 10:30am in Edinborough Gardens, Fitzroy North.
**About the Session - A Gentle Reset.**
A soft Boxing Day meditation to help you clear, release, and gently reset after Christmas.
Boxing Day often carries a quiet emotional weight. After the fullness of Christmas Day, the connection, noise, expectations, and movement, there can be a sense of tiredness, sensitivity, or simply the need to exhale. This session is an invitation to slow everything down and land gently back in your body.
Before the pace of the day picks up, take an hour to rest, recalibrate, and create space. We’ll be lying on the grass beneath the open sky, allowing stillness, breath, and nature to help the nervous system unwind.
This session is especially supportive if you’re feeling flat, tender, socially depleted, overstimulated, or simply wanting a calm, grounded pause during a busy season.
**This Meditation session is designed to help you:**
• Soften and settle back into your body.
• Release leftover tension from the days before.
• Calm and rebalance your nervous system.
• Clear emotional and mental residue.
• Reset gently, without effort or pressure.
**The Meditation Session.**
**We’ll begin with Yoga Nidra, a guided deep rest practice where you simply lie down and allow the body to soften.**
There is nothing to perform or achieve. Once you’re comfortable, staying mostly still helps the nervous system drop into deeper rest. I’ll guide your awareness slowly through the body so the mind can drift, unwind, and settle.
**From there, we’ll move into a** **gentle reset visual meditation**, using cooling, clearing imagery and breath to support release and recalibration. This part of the practice is designed as an emotional exhale, helping you let go of what no longer needs to be carried and return to a sense of steadiness and ease.
The practice is fully guided, deeply restorative, and suitable for anyone needing a quiet place to land.
No experience is needed. This session is beginner-friendly and supported from start to finish.
> “Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths.”
> *Etty Hillesum*

***WEATHER NOTES.***

Summer mornings are often lovely, but Melbourne does like to surprise us.

How the mind is making the Body Ill. Free Meetup Talk
How the Mind is making the Body Ill!
What the mind is doing to the body. (yours)
Did you know that about 70 percent of the physician's current roster of diseases fall into the category of psychosomatic illness?
Psychosomatic Illnesses are those which have a mental origin but are nevertheless organic.
Psycho, of course, means mind and somatic refers to body; the term psychosomatic means the mind making the body ill or illnesses which have been created physically within the body by derangement of the mind.
At today's meetup you are able to learn why is it that some people recover promptly from illness, trauma or accidents whilst others receiving the very same treatments do so slowly, not at all or relapse.
When one desires to handle any unwanted condition in life the mind plays a crucial role. Why is it then that all to many confess they know very little about the mind or anything at all.
The mind and the problem of psychosomatic illness are entirely embraced by Dianetics (the Modern Science of Mental Health ) and by Dianetics technique.
https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/1/5/a/1/600_462605537.jpeg
Dianetics means: What the mind is doing to the body.
Trough the application of Dianetics technique you will be able to confirm that when one resolves the problem of human aberration (any deviation or departure from rationality) you naturaly get great response all around. (Not just body related)
Bizarre aches and pains in various portions of the body are generally psychosomatic. Migraine headaches are psychosomatic.
Arthritis, dermatitis, allergies, asthma some coronary difficulties, eye trouble, bursitis, ulcers, sinusitis, etc., form a very small section of the psychosomatic catalog.
Therefore the catalog of ills affected by Dianetics technique is very long.
Dianetics is something that anyone can use to help improve himself and his fellows.
My own truth is that the hidden source of all psychosomatic ills and human aberration has been discovered and accurate skills have been developed for their handling.
I also know that many other people have experienced this to be true.
Dianetics is a path to knowing how to know, unlocking the gates to be better future for yourself or others you love or are responsible for.
Only by reading the Dianetics book (or watching the DVD) in full can one get an understanding of the workings of the mind and the potential merits that applying Dianetics technique yourself may have for you.
Amherst College Political Science Professor, Dr Frederick L. Schuman declaration in the New York times: "History has become a race between Dianetics and catastrophe. Dianetics will win, if enough people are challenged in time to understand it"
Your own investigation into Dianetics The Modern Science of Mental Health is prudent and welcomed. It's after all very sensible to investigate personally why this explosive bestseller book has sold more copies than any other book in its category and is the most influential book ever written about the mind.
The above are some of my own opinions, experiences, and observations. As always results obtained by the individual are up to him. No promises are made by me or anyone or anybody.
Any technique no matter how good does not work for people that do not want to change, are not interested or have other agendas. Those that do not fall into those categories tend to do very well and flourish and prosper because of it.
Truth is not what people say it is. it is what it is.
All People of goodwill are welcome.
Contact us if today's date or time do not suit your schedule.
If one can not make it to our meetup class then it's recommended you get yourself a copy of the Dianetics book or DVD by contacting the event organizer.
Know yourself Know Life!.
