Hike Organising & being an Organisers
Summer is beginning and - slowly inching to higher altitudes - the season for mountain hiking starts!
This event is a good example of «true purpose» and «formal purpose» (i.e. excuse) being different:
The true purpose, of course, is (1) after-work-drinks, but (2) a look behind the scenes of Zurich Hike & Outdoor is a good excuse, isn't it?
**TARGET AUDIENCE:**
* Work is done, after-work-drinks are just the right thing now.
AND
* Your approach has been so far: «Joining a hike is great, but being the host? Nah, rather not.» OR
* There are things about organising hikes you always wanted to ask OR
* There are not enough hikes to your liking / at your level OR
* You are tired of remaining on the waitlist OR
* You have thought about maybe organising a hike yourself, but ... errr ... but but but OR
* You have seriously thought about becoming a H&O Event Organiser OR
* After three drinks you might just accidentally say "Yes".
**MEETING:**
* 17:00h at the Bierwerk pub
* Bierwerk Züri: [https://www.bierwerkzueri.ch/](https://www.bierwerkzueri.ch/)
* Bierwerk Züri: Gustav-Gull-Platz 10, 8004 Zürich
* Map (getting there from HB): [https://schweizmobil.ch/en/tour/760924908?layers=Station&logos=yes](https://schweizmobil.ch/en/tour/760924908?layers=Station&logos=yes)
* Probably the weather will allow to be outside
**THE PLAN:**
* Drinks
* Various topics around being a H&O event organiser
* Discuss hiking ideas and plans
* Maybe ... become an event organiser
**DIFFICULTY:**
* The trail from HB to the pub is NOT marked by any hiking signs,
I guess it must be T5 or more then!

You yourself are responsible for the drinks you have and the intoxication they might cause.

Photowalk Zurich (no workshop) Fully booked!
Join me for a street photography walk in Zurich — shoot and connect with fellow photographers!
Sunday 14.06.2026 from 17:00 - 20:00
Meeting point: Kunsthaus Bar Zürich, Heimplatz 5 (https://www.kunsthausbar.ch)
Costs: CHF 30 incl. drink
Max. 10 participants
Organized by @katja_zuerich (Instagram)
I speak English, German, Swiss German and of course, my mother tongue Dutch, fluently.
This walk explores Zurich’s historic center. We start at the Kunsthaus, then head to the transport hub of Stadelhofen. From there, we move to the open plaza at Bellevue to capture the lakefront and city movement (and maybe make some cool ICM shots?;))The route continues to Helmhaus (one of my favorite spots!) and ends at Münsterhof, a beautiful place surrounded by historic architecture.
The walk takes about three hours at a relaxed pace, allowing enough time for photography and exploration.
You can pay using the following link:

Your spot is secured after payment has been received!
(Please note: this is not a workshop!)
Thirtythird Zurich Coffee Talk Live!
A casual meet-up to get to know people from / around Zurich over a cup of coffee. Groups are typically 6-7 people small.
Main intention is to be less of a hello-goodbye event, but more to be able to "hang out" and get to know each other in some kind of a hide-out location where you can be sure of a seat: a third place besides home and work, where some distance can be taken from the daily hassles: an a\*\*-hole free zone.
Yes, there is a bit of a format that could be used (see below), although we're not going to "nanny" the whole event: just like in a Swiss association or "Verein": it's up to you to make it a success!
\- walk\-in/socialising
\- round of introduction
\- subject to talk about
\- hanging out
\- dinner \(if I make an exception of eating after 17:00\!\)
Location is always in Zurich's centre (NOT recommended by car!) and will be revealed in due time (please check your messages to confirm, etc.!). If that doesn't work, please write a message in this event, so I can see you're interested!
Hope to see you soon!

Summer is here and it's time to grab your swimwear and get active! At our next outdoor activity, we're going to meet at Greifensee for some fun activities. Wasserbergfirst hike
This hike start at the bus stop Muotathal at 9:05. It is not the easiest one. Although it is only a T3 it is 2000m up.
If we are enough people, we can split into two groups.
One group for those who prefer a more relaxed option, like swimming in Träsmerenseeli or just go slower while the others reach the summit by doing the full hike.
We can speak about that in the dedicated whatsapp group
difficult version: [Wasserbergfirst - swisstopo app](https://swisstopo.app/i/1/51387743-7589-4ff3-803d-d0e20ee6f45d)

If the event will happen in more than 30 days, I haven't added the survey in the channel yet. (Because message in a WhatsApp channel can be read by a new member only 30 days before he joins. But you can already enter the corresponding WhatsApp group)
If you are concerned about privacy, only the admin of a WhatsApp channel can see who has voted in a poll (unlike a WhatsApp group).
Please sign up only when you are certain!
You can also register through Meetup, as it helps build momentum; however, I rely only on the number of people who signed up through the WhatsApp survey.
ZH3 Hash # 1732: Street Food Festival
Hare is KTTT.
A short trail followed by expensive beer and street food at the hardturm street food festival.
**Where**:
Bag drop is at the mobility car saved on meetup. Look for English speakers wearing running gear.
**When:**
We'll meet at 6:50 pm to start at 7:00 pm.
There's a charge of CHF 5 for participating, which covers all you can drink beer/cider (and non-alcoholic alternatives) plus snacks afterwards.
**All Welcome:**
If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know:
• We are a social running/walking group, physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humour is useful.
• The aim is to find the '*Beer Stop*' at the end of the '*trail*' and have fun.
• 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running), and some over-achieving fast runners will go further.
• The '*Hare*', which changes each event (along with location), cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time.
• There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change.
• **After Trail**, we group for \~20-40 minutes for drinks, snacks, and some fun. This '*Circle*' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark). If you don't want to stand around drinking afterwards, you can head home. We occasionally all go to a restaurant afterwards.
**Why bother leaving your warm & dry sofa?**
If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing. Exercise is important, and this is probably the least boring way to get it.
'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (*Hashes*) in most major cities. Its humor and 'traditions' can be explored on the internet - **or you can just come along and find out.** *See you there.*
We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies 'Virgin Hashers' and visitors from other groups.

This scenic hike includes dirt trails (with hills) through the woods, grass trails through the meadows and paved trails along the pond. Please be able to hike at least at a moderate pace so that the group doesn’t have to wait for you often. We don’t want to lose you!
Over the Bridge and Through the Roses
We'll meet at the flagpole in the **Ridgeview Middle School** parking lot (4241 Rudy Rd). Parking there is fine on Sundays.
From the school, we cross OH-315 and the Olentangy River via the **Olentangy Trail Pedestrian Bridge**, then walk past **Whetstone Pond** and through **Columbus Park of Roses**, turning back at the **Whetstone Branch of Columbus Metropolitan Library**. About 4 miles round trip, roughly 1.5 hours.

Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations.
If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!).
**HOW IT WORKS**
**Step 1: Bring a topic**
Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event.
**Step 2: Circle up & share**
We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds.
**Step 3: Walk, talk & float**
We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!"
**Step 4: Feel more alive**
Two hours flies by. You're back where you started — but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times.
*For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)*
**HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC**
A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about.
Recent topics include:
* "What are you passionate about right now?"
* "What makes a good friend?"
* "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?"
* "How do you want to be remembered?"
* "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?"
Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter.
**WHAT TO EXPECT**
This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.*
But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here.
**FAQ**
* Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk!
* We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space.
* We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space.
* Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know.
* Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome — please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic!
**LOGISTICS**
* If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event.
* This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs.
* Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details.
* If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. 🤠👋
**IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER...**
[The Board](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board) is the next step: a high-trust collective for renaissance people devoted to creating, connecting, and building lives that light us up.
* This is a global HQ for people who crave big talk, deep connection, and dream collaborations with people across industries. If the walks feel like a spark... The Board is the fire. Apply [here](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board).
