Walk as Far as You Like: A Flexible Winter Walk Across Vienna
Hi everyone!
On **Saturday, February 14, 2026**, I’m planning a beautiful winter hike across the green hills of Vienna — from **Nussdorf to Hütteldorf**, right through the heart of the Wienerwald.
This hike combines forest paths, gentle ridgelines, and some of the best panoramic views over Vienna. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy nature, fresh winter air, and relaxed conversation while crossing the city from north to west on foot.
You **do not have to walk the whole route**.
This hike is perfect if you want to join **only for part of the way**:
* 🚉 **Kahlenberg** – easy exit with public transport back into the city
* 🚉 **Neuwaldegg** – another convenient exit point with tram connections (approx. 11km hike, 3-4hrs and 350m altitude)
You can decide **during the hike** how far you’d like to go. Walking all the way to Hütteldorf is optional and only recommended if you feel fit and motivated on the day.
**What makes this hike special**
* 🌆 Beautiful views over Vienna from **Leopoldsberg** and **Kahlenberg**
* 🌲 Peaceful forest paths through the **Wienerwald**
* 📍 Passing classic local peaks like **Herrmannskogel** and **Dreimarkstein**
* 🚉 Very flexible route: you can join for part of the hike and exit earlier if needed
* 💬 A social hike with time for conversation and short breaks
You’re welcome to walk **as long or as short as you like**. The most convenient exit points with public transport are **Kahlenberg** and **Neuwaldegg**, so this hike is ideal if you want to test your pace or fitness level in a friendly group setting.
**Meeting Point**
📍 **Bahnhof Wien Nussdorf**
🕘 **09:00 a.m.** (in front of the station)
**Hike Details**
* ⏱ **Duration:** approx. **6.5 hours** (pure walking time to Hütteldorf)
* 📏 **Distance:** up to **24 km** (if walking the full route)
* ⛰ **Elevation:** approx. **892 m ascent**
* 🟢 **Difficulty:** Easy (technically)
* Walking the full route to Hütteldorf requires **good basic fitness**
* Shorter options are possible
* 🚶 **Pace:** Comfortable and social, with regular short breaks
More information on the trail:
[https://www.bergfex.at/sommer/niederoesterreich/touren/wanderung/2290740,nussdorf--vogelsangberg--hermannskogel--huetteldorf/](https://www.bergfex.at/sommer/niederoesterreich/touren/wanderung/2290740,nussdorf--vogelsangberg--hermannskogel--huetteldorf/)
**Group Pace & Staying Together**
**Fun (but serious) group disclaimer:**
If you sprint ahead and disappear, I will assume you’ve chosen a new life among wild boars, dog walkers, and people power-walking in jeans. Running ahead voids all group benefits, including navigation, moral support, **access to snacks**, and protection from aggressive squirrels. By running ahead, you explicitly accept these terms and conditions.
**Practical Notes**
I’ll send a **weather update on Thursday evening** to everyone who’s registered. It will almost certainly be **cold and possibly frosty**, so please be prepared.
* 🧤 Dress warmly in layers
* 🥾 Wear sturdy, winter-appropriate hiking shoes
* 💧 Bring your own snacks and drinks (at least **1 liter of water**), there will be no hut or restaurant stop along the route
* Some sections may be **muddy or slightly icy**, depending on the weather
**Disclaimer**
As always, this is a **free, private leisure activity**. I’m not a certified hiking guide, and participation is at your own responsibility and risk.
Looking forward to seeing you for this winter walk across Vienna ❄️🌲

The Anti-Valentine’s Day Event: Real Love, Beyond the Clichés
# **Please Read Everything!**
\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-
A gentle, honest exploration of love — **without the noise, pressure, or fairy-tale myths**.
But real love is **quieter, deeper, and far more human**.
It asks us to **see ourselves clearly, to let go of old patterns, and to open to connection that feels true and safe.**
This event offers **a different kind of space** —
a place to **pause**,
to **reflect**,
and to **explore what love actually means in your real, lived life**.
Together, we look gently into the themes that shape our relationships:
**how we love,**
**how we lose ourselves,**
**how we protect our hearts,**
**and how we rediscover the courage to love with honesty and depth.**
**What we will explore together**
**• What real love is — beneath ideals and expectations**
**• How past patterns shape the relationships we choose**
**• How to meet loneliness, longing, or heartbreak with clarity**
**• What makes relationships feel safe, alive, and connected**
**• How to grow love that is steady, respectful, and grounded**
**• How to live love with “Geborgenheit”** — the feeling of being safe, held, and at home in yourself and in the world
**This is not a romantic workshop.**
**Not a celebration of the holiday.**
But an invitation to **meet love — and yourself — with honesty, gentleness, and the possibility of something more true.**
Come as you are.
Leave with more clarity, more courage, and a deeper sense of what real love can be for you.

Looking for a space to practice Tango Argentino with intention? The Focused Prácticas are open practice gatherings for dancers of all levels, whether you’re just starting out, deepening your foundations, or refining more advanced skills.

A welcoming, respectful atmosphere
Space to focus without pressure
Supportive presence if questions arise

Open Dialogue – Discovering Together in Vienna
We will meet in a calm and friendly place ( Parc, Café, Restaurant) to explore together some of Jiddu Krishnamurti’s key questions about awareness, relationship, and freedom.
There will be no teaching, no authority — only open dialogue and attentive listening.
Everyone is welcome, whether you are familiar with Krishnamurti or simply curious about life and self-understanding.
We’ll start with an open conversation around a theme such as “Listening without judgment” or “Can thought bring clarity?”
Please bring openness, curiosity, and a readiness to listen — no books or notes needed.
The spirit is not to discuss “what should be,” but to observe together “what is.”

Run+B-fast
Hi Running fellows,
Whether you’re a walker, new to running, a semi-pro, a marathonist or a sprint star - if you want to start your weekend in an active way and enjoy the outdoors in lovely surroundings with a fun, international and multilingual group of people, you are welcome to join us!
Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent Schönbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast.
Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. Not feeling social? Tune out with your earbuds - we can talk over breakfast. We are casual. You can be too.
What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the Schönbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit Grünbergstraße). (Coordinates: 48.1858130, 16.3200640) From there, we walk to the side park entrance where the “running” part begins. The important thing is that you run at your own pace. Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :)
We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. (Coordinates: 48.1858825, 16.3032647). From there, we’re off to breakfast!
Breakfast Details: Anker bakery opposite the U4 Hietzing station and depending on the weather, grab something for a picnic in Schönbrunn park, or hang out in the bakery. If you missed us earlier, you can always go there around 10:45.
We are a fun group of runners who don’t take things too seriously. We meet, chat, RUN, stretch, chat, EAT and we hang out over a beer every now and then. It's that easy. Please join us for breakfast after the run! The more the merrier.
Typically we are 10-30 people, as not everyone who comes signs up on meetup.
Important disclaimer: Please only run as much as you feel you can, considering the temperature, weather conditions, your own fitness etc... run and walk at your own pace as the organizers do not assume any liability for any injuries or health issues. Sonia, Adrian, Ali, Paul and Liz

Science and Philosophy Discussion Table
This is a group for meeting new people, eating brunch, and having discussions about science, life, philosophy, politics, and people.
Anybody is free to join, and we charge no fees.
This discussion group aims to have the absolute minimal level of structure necessary to ensure the conversation remains engaging to the majority of people present. In particular, we \*don't\* have fixed order of speaking or timed statements.
So far, the balance we've struck is enforcing hand raising when conversation gets intense in order to minimize interruption, and to give the chair (me!) the power to occasionally call a snap election on the conversation topic.

Astrology for the Heart (Valentine's Day special edition)
**Written in the Stars: A Valentine’s 2026 Unique Connection**
2026 is off to an electric start! With the stars realigning in ways we haven’t seen in decades, there’s a massive "cosmic pulse" calling us to rethink how we perceive and express love, how we relate, how we open our hearts. Whether you're celebrating a partnership or honoring your own journey, this Valentine's edition is designed to help you navigate the language of the heart.
Why Astrology for the Heart?
Astrology is more than just "Who am I compatible with?" It’s a symbolic map 🌌 that reveals our deepest needs for intimacy, security, and joy. By understanding your birth chart, you’re not just looking at a map of the sky—you’re looking at a map of your own capacity to love and be loved. 💫
What Makes This Special:
Forget the clichés. This isn't a speed-dating night or a lecture on why you should avoid Aries. Instead, expect a **fun, soul-centered guided experience** that blends astrological insight with creative journaling ✍️ and heart-opening meditation 🧘.
You’ll have the chance to:
* **Decode your "Love Language"** through your Venus and Moon placements.
* **Explore 2026’s rare alignments** and what they mean for your relationships.
The flow of the evening:
Every session is a journey, and for this special Valentine’s edition, we’re focusing on the **Magic of Affinity**.
* 🌙 **The Gathering:** We’ll open with a warm introduction, setting our intentions for the heart-space we’re creating together.
* ⭐ **The Exploration:** Guided exercises in small groups to help you "read" the romantic and social potential in your own chart.
* 💬 **The Reflection:** We’ll wrap up with an open discussion on the 2026 shifts and a Q&A to demystify any burning astrological questions.
Who should attend:
Whether you’re a complete beginner 🌱 or a seasoned stargazer, you are welcome here. This is a space for everyone—singles, couples, and "it’s complicateds" alike.
PS: A contribution of €10 per person will be collected to cover the organization, energy and cookies. Additional donations are most welcome.
> **Pro-Tip:** Please have your birth chart ready! If you don't have one, I recommend generating a free one at **astro.com** before we begin.

Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Weekly screenings from a large archive of many of the most significant, yet seldom seen and rarely accessible cinematic masterpieces in the history of film - from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles.
Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and moderated by the curator.
WARNNG: FilmStory is not just about watching movies! Rather, it's a socially responsible, intellectual engagement, involving an organic approach to group study of film language, philosophy, art, history, politics, and technology. In this sense, the film is always merely the current highlight in an explorative, ongoing group discussion.
**FilmStory** is a members-only series that involves a closely knit community of cinephiles. Events take place every Sunday in a comfortable, private setting with limited capacity. Participation is reserved primarily for regular members, but we're always ready to make new friends!
Non-regular members may request to meet the community and, upon acceptance as a "new joiner," are welcome to participate in one event, according to space availability. New joiners are asked to make a €6 member dues contribution in advance of the requested date. New members receive a message of confirmation and the address of the Living Room in 1080 Vienna upon receipt of their dues contribution.
**FilmStory** is presented and hosted by **[KulturSalon Wien](https://www.meetup.com/kultursalon-wien/)**.

Bad Girls Book Club February 2026
**Our February novel is: Julia by Sandra Newman**
**This month is a classic, dystopian, fiction, literary fiction, women’s fiction, and science fiction novel. The book is 394 pages in print and 14 hours and 20 minutes on audiobook.**
**An imaginative, feminist, and brilliantly relevant-to-today retelling of Orwell’s 1984, from the point of view of Winston Smith’s lover, Julia, by critically acclaimed novelist Sandra Newman.**
Julia Worthing is a mechanic, working in the Fiction Department at the Ministry of Truth. It’s 1984, and Britain (now called Airstrip One) has long been absorbed into the larger trans-Atlantic nation of Oceania. Oceania has been at war for as long as anyone can remember, and is ruled by an ultra-totalitarian Party, whose leader is a quasi-mythical figure called Big Brother. In short, everything about this world is as it is in Orwell’s 1984.
All her life, Julia has known only Oceania, and, until she meets Winston Smith, she has never imagined anything else. She is an ideal citizen: cheerfully cynical, always ready with a bribe, piously repeating every political slogan while believing in nothing. She routinely breaks the rules, but also collaborates with the regime when necessary. Everyone likes Julia.
Then one day she finds herself walking toward Winston Smith in a corridor and impulsively slips him a note, setting in motion the devastating, unforgettable events of the classic story. Julia takes us on a surprising journey through Orwell’s now-iconic dystopia, with twists that reveal unexpected sides not only to Julia, but to other familiar figures in the 1984 universe. This unique perspective lays bare our own world in haunting and provocative ways, just as the original did almost seventy-five years ago.
