Unlike many of his other labours, Hercules captures the bull alone, without weapons, using only his bare hands and his understanding. He rides the bull across the sea back to Eurystheus, who — unable to manage it — releases it again, where it eventually becomes the Marathonian bull. This labour teaches the Taurean disciple that the desire nature cannot be killed or suppressed; it must be **understood, captured, and consciously redirected**.
