We Were Made for These Times (hybrid)
We Were Made for These Times (hybrid)
We all go through times when it feels like the ground is being pulled out from under us. What we relied on as steady and solid may change or even appear to vanish. In this era of global disruption, threats to our individual, social, and planetary safety abound, and at times life can feel overwhelming. Not only are loss and separation painful, but even positive changes can cause great stress. Yet life is full of change: birth, death, marriage, divorce; a new relationship; losing or starting a job; beginning a new phase in life or ending one. Change is stressful, even when it is much desired or anticipated—the unknown can feel scary and threatening. In We Were Made for These Times, the extraordinary mindfulness teacher Kaira Jewel Lingo imparts accessible advice on navigating difficult times of transition, drawing on Buddhist teachings on impermanence to help you establish equanimity and resilience. Creating from the Dark Side
Creating from the Dark Side
Curious about spirituality beyond traditional religious boxes? You’re warmly invited to explore **Unity**, a spiritual movement that blends practical Christianity with metaphysical wisdom, personal growth, and inclusive theology. Unity is grounded in the idea that each person has an innate spiritual nature, that love is the essence of all faith traditions, and that our thoughts, intentions, and practices shape our lived experience. Rather than focusing on doctrine or dogma, Unity emphasizes spiritual principles you can *apply*—right where you are, exactly as you are. On this fourth Sunday of the Lenten season, guest speaker and congregant **Duane Bowers** invites us into a reflective and empowering journey. In each moment of our lives, we are constantly creating the next moment. How different would our lives be if we were more intentional about what we were creating ---particularly when life is tough and we're in darkness? Whether you’re spiritually curious, deconstructing old beliefs, or simply seeking a meaningful way to engage the season, this gathering offers a thoughtful, compassionate entry point into an untraditional faith tradition that honors both inner wisdom and shared humanity. All are welcome—no prior experience with Unity required. [Learn more](https://unityoffairfax.org/what-we-believe-what-unity).
PRJC St Paddy’s Day Party with Anita’s Jazzmanian Devils
PRJC St Paddy’s Day Party with Anita’s Jazzmanian Devils
Anita Thomas has put together what you could properly term “the dream team” of a band - grab your tickets now for a pot of gold show! Anita Thomas has had great fortune bestowed upon her. Having lived in Australia and California and now Maryland she has had the opportunity to meet and play with stellar jazz musicians from around the globe. For this PRJC performance she is presenting not only some of our fabulous local jazz musicians but also one you may not have yet heard in person. Anita is bringing in NYC trumpeter Danny Tobias, in demand throughout the NYS area and (literally) ships at sea, a veteran of jazz cruises. Joining Danny are local standouts Scott Silbert on reeds, David Sager on trombone, Craig Gildner on piano. Joining Anita from her roost in Hagerstown will be Chuck Ferrell on drums, while versatile Anita herself will be handling string bass AND bass saxophone chores. This band is going to be exciting and hot but also sweet and tender. It promises to be an event to remember - and it may bring the luck of the Irish to ya. The Potomac River Jazz Club (PRJC) has been bringing live New Orleans/Trad style jazz to the DC area for over 52 years. We host our concerts at Rosensteel Hall as it has ample parking, is a few blocks from the metro (red line, Forest Glen), has plenty of seating and dance floor space, and a nicely priced cash bar. Healing Racism
Healing Racism
Today's Meaningful Conversation explores the role of spirituality in eradicating and healing from the spiritual disease of racism. We will begin our exploration of this topic with a selection of passages from the Bahá’í Writings, which will help us consider the following questions: * How does a spiritual outlook on racism help us better understand and address this vital issue? * What changes in mind and heart will offer an effective antidote to racism? * How can each of us contribute to true and lasting healing and transformation? *“If in this day a soul shall act according to the precepts and the counsels of God, he will serve as a divine physician to mankind…”*

Letting Love Lead: Navigating Grief with an Open Heart with Diane Haworth
Letting Love Lead: Navigating Grief with an Open Heart with Diane Haworth
Join us in a space of compassion where grief is honored rather than fixed, and love is welcomed as a steady companion. Grief touches us all, through the loss of a loved one, a life chapter, or the future we once imagined. In this gentle, heart-centered workshop, Diane L. Haworth invites participants into a compassionate space where grief is honored rather than fixed, and love is welcomed as a steady companion. Drawing from her own lived experience following the unexpected death of her husband, Diane shares how choosing love over fear supported her through profound loss. And how that enabled her to support her family through the experience. Participants will be guided through reflection, a simple experiential exercise, and quiet connection, allowing each person to meet their grief in their own way and at their own pace. This workshop emphasizes presence over teaching, offering a supportive environment where participants can breathe, reflect, and remember how love has held them, past and present. ***Diane L Haworth*** *is a Heart-Centered Success Coach, teacher, author, and founder of the Be Love Principles.
