It is one of the classic winter hikes close to the coast. At the highest point of the Nice region, where the Var River flows west and the Paillons Valley east, Mont Férion (1,412 m) offers stunning views over the villages of Levens with its expansive green plateau and Coaraze, nestled on a beautiful ridge. This remarkable site showcases the resilience of the Mediterranean landscape, shaped by centuries of sunshine and local flora. Mature forests of cedar, Austrian pine, and black pine thrive here, particularly around the historic Saint-Michel chapel. The cedar grove creates a unique and tranquil atmosphere within a landscape of grazing pastures, fragrant scrubland, and beautiful pine forests – a truly special experience. This is a very scenic hike, first going through the forest before reaching the crest. This is a medium sportive hike, with +/-750m. Most people would agree that a great night's sleep is one of the sweetest experiences in life. Unfortunately, nights of perfect sleep and restfulness can seem scarce. Particularly, during the truly hard times in life, good sleep can seem an impossibility. The ancient shepherd-crowned-king, David, knew more than the average person about the challenge of getting a good night's sleep in the midst of being falsely maligned, hunted by enemies, and attacked by those who wanted him dead. He understood the terror of running for his life, and having thousands call for his death. What was his answer? Where could a man on the run find peace? What hope was there for a person in such circumstances? David's hope and peace were found in the One Who he knew was Perfect Truth, Justice, Mercy, and Grace, the God Who had delivered His people before and Who would do so again, and again, and again.
