D.A.D.S. Workout
D.A.D.S. Workout
If you’re a dad over 35, you probably feel it: * Your energy isn’t what it used to be. * Work stress drains you before you even get home. * The weight has crept on around the middle. * Your kids still have endless energy, but keeping up with them feels harder every year. And deep down, you know your family looks to you as the example. If you’re running on empty, short on patience, and out of shape, that’s the standard you set at home. The **D.A.D.S. Program (Dads Achieving Discipline & Strength)** was built for men like you. Ordinary guys with jobs, families, and full schedules who want to: * **Reclaim strength** so you feel capable, athletic, and confident again. * **Boost energy** so you’re sharp at work and fully present with your family. * **Drop the aches, stiffness, and sluggishness** that make you feel older than you are. * **Find balance and accountability** by training alongside other dads in the same fight. * **Crush male loneliness** by connecting with men who “get it” and have your back. Here’s the best part: You don’t need to be a seasoned gym rat. This is designed for **beginner to intermediate exercisers**—dads who may have been out of the gym for years or have never had a structured program, but know it’s time to get serious. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, we’re hosting **Meet-Up Workouts from 6:00–6:45 AM.** No strings attached. Just one powerful hour that could be the turning point in your health, energy, and family life. There are only **8 spots available**, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. Location: Revolutionary Fitness - 215 N. Payne St., Alexandria, Va 22314 Every Monday, Wednesday, & Friday from 6:00–6:45 AM To claim your spot, call/text 703-783-2316 or email sign up directly at [https://go.thefitrevolution.com/dads](https://go.thefitrevolution.com/dads) Stop putting yourself last. Take this hour, and give your family the stronger, sharper, healthier version of you.
Come Play: Trains
Come Play: Trains
No, not Planes, nor Automobiles. We're playing TRAINS from designer [Hisashi Hayashi](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgamedesigner/39436/hisashi-hayashi "Hisashi Hayashi"). A fun deckbuilding game with a train-centric theme: you're building your deck to construct the best train system in Japan. I'll also bring along more wonderful cube rails train games for the overflow, but know that the first people to RSVP will get first dibs on playing Trains as it only plays up to 4. BGG Description: In the 19th century, shortly after the industrial revolution, railways quickly spread over the world. Japan, importing Western culture and eager to become one of the Grand Nations, saw the birth of many private railway companies and entered the Golden Age of railways. Eventually, as a result of the actions of powerful people and capitalists, many of these smaller companies gradually merged into larger ones. In ***Trains***, the players are such capitalists, managing private railways companies and striving to become bigger and better than the competition. The game takes place during the 19th and 20th century in the 2012 OKAZU Brand edition, whereas the 2013 AEG/Pegasus edition is set in modern times, with bullet trains, freight trains and more. You will start with a small set of cards, but by building a more effective deck throughout the game, you will be able to place stations and lay rails over the maps of Osaka, Tokyo or other locations. The trick is to purchase the cards you want to use, then use them as effectively as possible. Gain enough points from your railways and you will ultimately manage the most powerful railroads in modern Japan!

Imbolc Celebration
Imbolc Celebration
Imbolc is a Sabbat that sometimes gets overlooked due to the desire to hibernate from the bitter cold. However, we will embrace Imbolc because it is one of the most vital Sabbats due to its themes of new beginnings, hope, guidance and the spark of life. Besides, there's always the option of celebrating indoors if it's frigid! Speaking of which, we will gather at Dash's on January 31 around 1pm. Those who have an active part, the circle caster and quarter callers, should gather no later than 12:30 to go over the ceremony, and the ceremony will start no later than 1:30. We will either have Imbolc inside Dash's home or in the forested area behind their house. And as always, bring scrumptious food for the feast afterwards! Parking is available in Dash's neighborhood. There are some spots marked for handicapped folks, but other than those, you can park anywhere. You can also get to their place using the metro; just ride it all the way to the end of the Blue line, the Franconia-Springfield station. From there, you can walk or use a ride-sharing app. If you would like to walk from the metro, Dash will post directions in the chat shortly. I look forward to seeing everyone there. \*\*\* Photo by Artem Meletov; found on pexels.com. \*\*\* The Firefly House seeks to provide a friendly, safe environment in which all participants can engage in productive dialogue, sharing, and learning with each other in an atmosphere of mutual respect. We are committed to providing a harassment-free environment for all, regardless of gender identity or expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body type, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. Humanist Community Celebrating Darwin Day
Humanist Community Celebrating Darwin Day
Dale Gnidovec, Curator of the Orton Hall Museum of Geology at The Ohio State University, will be presenting a program he has wanted to share with us for a long time: Plate Tectonics. His description of his program: Continents on the move - Nothing in Earth history makes sense without moving continents - it tells us why mountains, volcanoes, minerals, and fossils are where they are. This talk examines the evidence for continental drift, why it was disbelieved, and explains how the more-encompassing theory of plate tectonics was developed and eventually proven. Dale is an energetic, incredibly knowledgeable, and very entertaining speaker and this will be another wonderful program by Dale. Hope to see you there! Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid.
