This Life drawing group will run throughout 2023. We will draw the life model. Starting with short poses, and working up to a longer pose. Materials -charcoal and A2 paper - will be provided, but if you want to work in a sketchbook or use different materials, please feel free to bring them. The session starts at 6.30 pm and ends at 8.30pm. We will take a 10 minute break after and hour, and have a longer pose after the break. Newington Green Meeting House is a historic Unitarian Chapel situated on the North side of Newington Green. Access to the class will be by the side door. Please ring the bell when you arrive. Life drawing classes tend to involve short poses which seldom allow time for painters to adjust their paintings sufficiently. In this class we will work with a life model who will take a single pose for the two hours each week, giving us more time to adjust and correct our paintings. Artists of all levels are welcome to attend, but this is a self directed class and no tuition will normally be given. Please bring your own water-based painting material such as acrylics, gouache or watercolours as the room is not equipped for oil-based paints. There is a sink in the kitchen adjoining the studio room where water can be obtained. The two hour session will start at 2.30pm and end at 4.30pm with a 15 minute tea break at 3.30pm. Let's sketch Alexandra Palace! Bit of a schlep to the outskirts of town this one but totally worth it for the views of the city and the utterly stunning venue that is Ally Pally! Feel free to drop in for the whole two hours or just short while if you'd prefer. Join us at this historic studio under the arches of Hungerford Bridge on the South Bank of the Thames, where the renowned painter and reportage artist Felix Topolski RA worked from 1951 until 1989 for an evening hosted by his grandson Lucian Topolski.
