This Life drawing group will run throughout 2023. We will draw the life model. Starting with short poses, and working up to a longer pose. Materials -charcoal and A2 paper - will be provided, but if you want to work in a sketchbook or use different materials, please feel free to bring them. The session starts at 6.30 pm and ends at 8.30pm. We will take a 10 minute break after and hour, and have a longer pose after the break. Newington Green Meeting House is a historic Unitarian Chapel situated on the North side of Newington Green. Access to the class will be by the side door. Please ring the bell when you arrive. Life drawing classes tend to involve short poses which seldom allow time for painters to adjust their paintings sufficiently. In this class we will work with a life model who will take a single pose for the two hours each week, giving us more time to adjust and correct our paintings. Artists of all levels are welcome to attend, but this is a self directed class and no tuition will normally be given. Please bring your own water-based painting material such as acrylics, gouache or watercolours as the room is not equipped for oil-based paints. There is a sink in the kitchen adjoining the studio room where water can be obtained. The two hour session will start at 2.30pm and end at 4.30pm with a 15 minute tea break at 3.30pm. Join us at this historic studio under the arches of Hungerford Bridge on the South Bank of the Thames, where the renowned painter and reportage artist Felix Topolski RA worked from 1951 until 1989 for an evening hosted by his grandson Lucian Topolski. Mark Lovelace will lead the drawing, Mark is an artist, with a special interest in drawing, who has been running classes at the Barbican Art Society, and at London Life Drawing, for many years. Lucien will be around after the class to socialise, and you are welcome to bring your own drinks. There is also the Topolski Bar nearby. Life drawing session with a range of dynamic poses for the first half before a break and then a 1hr long pose. Tutor led with tips and strategies for draughting over a longer period, in a logical, accessible way. Material and half-time tea provided.

However, if you bring your camera we can test it for compatibility with the studio lights.* Bondage elements can add an extra layer of emotion and artistry to your images. Sample images on the internet are however dominated by BDSM style shots that are often sexualized and emphasize the model being in distress. In this demonstration Rachel and I show ways to use bondage elements in an artistic way. We explore the types of accessories that work best in artistic images and the best way to photograph them. Our model is Rachel Adams, an internationally known fetish model with many years of experience in this genre.
