Join Hannah, Rob and London Wildish Club as we head out into the Lee Valley Regional Park, a 26-mile corridor of waterways, wetlands and open space stretching from the Thames all the way up into Hertfordshire. We'll start and finish at Cheshunt Station, crossing straight into the River Lee Country Park and its lakes, wetlands, locks and big skies. May is a lovely time to do it; hopefully we'll see nesting birds, hawthorn coming into blossom and the reed beds waking up. Along the way we'll stop for 20-30 minutes to have a go at sketching. We'll find a comfortable spot by the water, pick a natural focus point (a reed bed, a lock, a heron if we're lucky) and take a slower, closer look at what's around us before gathering to share and heading on. No artistic experience is needed, and no one will be judging your heron. The point is the looking, not the drawing. This is a slightly longer wander at 10.3 km, but genuinely easy going with barely any elevation. Across the globe, people are living longer. One in ten children in the UK are expected to live beyond the age of 100. But who gets to live longer and ‘age well’? This exhibition explores how experiences of age are shaped by our environment, culture and society. The exhibition features more than 120 artworks and objects, from historical artefacts to works by contemporary artists.
