Toronto Book Club: Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
**📘 The Book Society: Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin — Open Discussion**
We're making an evening of it to get stuck into the divisive and brilliant Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin in a relaxed room where no opinion is too odd, and the group always makes the evening worth it.
Reading ahead is great but not required, and bring whatever section you're itching to discuss, and bring your feelings about it — because the most memorable moments here always come from real responses.
The conversation follows whoever has something to add — with no pressure to arrive with a polished verdict, and something genuinely new nearly always surfaces.
First-timers are warmly encouraged to come — and the conversation moves fast enough that settling in just happens, no prep beyond reading required, and the format is built to fold everyone in.
---
**The evening in short:**
1. The night opens with a few minutes to settle before the discussion starts
2. Talk opens on a first question and flows on from there, no set agenda
3. Before closing, the group picks or confirms the next title
⭐ *"First night and I'd already booked the next — it's the rare book club you actually look forward to"* – monthly regular
💡 **Handy hint:** note where the book won you over or lost you, since it takes thirty seconds and pays off all night, and the night repays whatever small prep you put in.
---
🗯️ Good books are better with good company — RSVP and join the conversation and the talk does the heavy lifting. See you there. 🗯️
VRTO 2026 - Spatial Media World Conference & Expo
VRTO returns to the heart of Toronto this summer, with amazing events including Video Games Month, FIFA, and many other incredible opportunities to meet folks and level up.
What VRTO does best is bring you face-to-face with the doers, designers, makers, outside-the-box thinkers, and opportunities.
With a third day added to the 2026 schedule, you can pick up a full conference pass or a 1-day pass for any of the three days. Or if you are more interested in the exhibits, a casual roam, and socializing, consider the economical wristband pass, which also gives you access to the second stage, where you will find interesting and actionable presentations on a variety of topics.
Whatever the case may be, we love to see the whole community come together from near and far to exchange the latest on all things related to the new spatial media.
This includes virtual production, avatars and virtual embodiment, generative AI and pair programming discussions from all sides, pedagogy and enterprise training, game and experience development, virtual and augmented reality, volumetric capture, and much more.
There are few shows as dedicated to these specialized disciplines as VRTO, and you can enjoy it at an easy-to-reach central location.
This event is presented here for community interest and meetup purposes. A ticket to the event must be purchased to gain [admission at Eventbrite](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/vrto-2026-spatial-media-world-conference-expo-tickets-1981067584474?aff=ebdsoporgprofile)
All the info you need will be posted at https://conference.virtualreality.to, and we can't wait to see you at this very special event.

New York City Book Club: Circe
**🍵 Book Discussion Group: Circe by Madeline Miller · Just Bring Yourself**
This meetup brings the group together to read from and discuss Madeline Miller's Circe in a casual and welcoming atmosphere, and a good chat is guaranteed.
Discussion flows wherever the group takes it — with the conversation often surprising even long-time members, and the format rewards curiosity over expertise.
No requirement to finish — come wherever you are in the book, and hold onto your strongest reaction to the text, and bring your reading notes — since every perspective adds something the group would not have without you.
You do not need to have been before — and the group tends to make first-timers feel at ease very quickly, nothing beyond the book and your thoughts is needed, and the discussion gets richer with every new reader who joins.
---
🌟 Every book grows when you bring it into a room full of readers — RSVP and come ready to talk and the conversation is always worth showing up for. The evening is better when you are in it. 🌟

Mob Programming at Mofer Coffee
Let’s do some coding together at a cafe! No more working alone in the weekend. Here, we write code together. And I mean together together. Not occupying-the-same-space-but-separate together.
Here’s how it works: Jennifer brings her mobile app project, tells everyone that it is like Pinterest for recipes and she’d like to work on the nav bar. Paul and Chloe think Jennifer's project is fascinating, and they join the group. They gather around Jennifer’s laptop and work on the nav bar for 2 hours. Jennifer is the one typing out the code while Paul and Chloe research, brainstorm, and offer suggestions.
If you’re feeling stuck on your own project or need a motivation boost, bring it to mob programming!
Want to learn by watching how others code and solve problems? Join someone else’s project at this event!
Oh and we love your half-done projects that you are a bit embarrassed to share. Absolutely bring those to the event!
**Discord**:
We use Discord to share screen & code snippets during the event. Also feel free to share your projects here before the event!
https://discord.gg/xwjDdVSw3E
**Event policy**:
* We have 0 tolerance for harassment.
* We don’t allow the projects that are not meant to be shared in public such as school assignments, interview tasks, or trade secrets.
* The goal is to write code. We discourage you from pitching business ideas here, doing code reviews, or spending the whole event on planning what to do.
* Please buy a drink, and tip the barista well.

Yonkers Book Club: Circe
**💡 Reading Meetup: Circe by Madeline Miller • Casual and Friendly**
The book club is meeting to open up a conversation around the thought-provoking Circe by Madeline Miller with a friendly group who enjoy good conversation, and everyone leaves with something new to think about.
The format is relaxed and member-led — with all opinions treated as equally valid, and the energy in the room tends to build as the evening goes on.
Come however far through the book you are, and note any characters or moments you want to unpack, and bring your reading notes — because the book looks completely different through a new set of eyes.
You do not need to have been before — and no introduction is required beyond showing up, your presence is the only requirement, and the relaxed setting means there is no pressure on you.
---
**The session at a glance:**
- Introductions are short and the book takes over within the first few minutes
- Discussion opens with an initial question and flows from there without a set agenda
- At some point toward the end the group votes on or suggests next month's read
💡 **Before the session:** mark the page you most want to talk about, because having one concrete thing to say takes the pressure off everything else, and the rest of the conversation will take care of itself.
---
☕ A good discussion is worth fifty pages of rereading — come along and join a conversation worth having and the discussion takes it from there. See you at the table. ☕
🌿☀️ SUMMER WALK TO THE EVERGREEN BRICK WORKS & MARKET ☀️🌿
🌿☀️ SUMMER WALK TO THE EVERGREEN BRICK WORKS & MARKET ☀️🌿
Ravine Trails, Outdoor Market & One of Toronto’s Best Skyline Lookout Spots
Summer is the perfect time to explore some of Toronto’s hidden green spaces — and few places feel as unique as Evergreen Brick Works.
Join us for a relaxed social walk from St. Clair down through the ravine trails toward the Brick Works, where nature, history, community, and city views all come together.
Even though you’re still in Toronto, parts of this walk feel surprisingly peaceful — shaded forest paths, creeks, birds, hidden trails, and eventually the old industrial buildings of the Brick Works opening up in the middle of the valley.
And in the summer? The whole place comes alive.

🌿 More About the Brick Works
From 1889 to the 1980s, the Don Valley Brick Works was one of Canada’s most important brick manufacturing sites, helping build much of Toronto itself.
Today, the restored site has become one of the city’s most beloved urban nature spaces — combining historic industrial buildings, markets, trails, gardens, and environmental spaces all in one place.
It’s one of those Toronto spots that people always seem surprised they didn’t discover sooner.
\*\*\*
