MoCo Code and Coffee is an inclusive, informal, co-working session. We're community-led and community-run by devs, for devs. People of all skill levels are invited. Especially new devs!
Bring a laptop, ideas, and we'll provide the coffee and snacks.

At 6:00pm pm everyone introduces themselves and briefly mention what brought them to Code & Coffee today (project, homework, networking, etc.)

As if the Way One Died Mattered
Join PSW Science® on December 19th at 8 PM as we welcome Davey Smith, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Clinical and Translational Research at UCSD. Smith will explain UCSD's "Last Gift" program which follows people with HIV closely near the end of life and then studies many organs right after death. In addition to HIV reserach, this model opens new windows on cancer, brain and nerve diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, in addition to heart and lung disease. During the question and answer period, in-person attendees and live stream viewers may ask the speaker questions, and in-person attendees may also engage with the speaker during the post-lecture reception. Herbs and the natural world are the foundation of many rituals, spells, and other workings in the craft.
In a new series by Carmilla of "Dark Magic for Dummies," we go back to basics, learning all we can about the powerful plants just under our feet.
Carmilla is an art historian, academic, and practicing witch for over six years.
Taught by Grannymoon in herbology, crystals, and many other tenets of the craft, much of that time has been spent practically, with years of client experience and spellworking under her belt.

Chronic Illness Board Games Meetup
Come to the Silver Spring library to play games some chronically ill friends! Members are adults who suffer from conditions including POTS, ME/CFS, long covid, MCAS, rheumatoid arthritis, Ehlers Danlos, multiple sclerosis, ulcerative colitis, autoimmune kidney disease, and more.
We'll have some board games available to play, and feel free to bring some of your own favorites. We'll also have coloring supplies on hand if you prefer to just relax or socialize.
We'll be returning to the SMALL ROOM 1 on the third floor of the Silver Spring library, just outside the elevator. As always, we ask everyone to wear a mask.
There is parking across the street in the Wayne Avenue Garage. There's ongoing construction on Fenton Street, so approach the garage from Georgia Ave to the Wayne Ave entrance.
Sunday Morning Meditation
**Weekly Sunday Meditation Classes with Sanema Naomi Hardrick**
* Each class begins with **guided breathing meditation**, to help settle the mind, let go of distractions and cultivate inner peace. The meditation is followed by a brief, traditional Buddhist prayer, called *Liberating Prayer.*
* The Teacher will then give a **practical teaching** based on the topic of the class series and explain how we can integrate Buddha’s timeless wisdom into our busy daily lives.
* The teaching is then followed by a **guided meditation** to help us mix our mind with the teaching and take it to heart.

This special holiday event will be AT GAMEARENA near the Gateway!!! Come with games if you like but also come just to chill and relax with new and old friends before we end the 2025 year. Digital, table-top, non-experienced developers, and the like are welcomed! We'll provide signage for your game to help others learn more about your work. Wifi, outlets, tables, and seats (though standing tables also) are available.
Come to the Prototype and Play workshop to collaborate and meet local game developers for an evening of epic and raw game play fun! Play works-in-progress, show off your own game, work with others to add polish to a game, or even lend your talents to other fellow developers.
