*Com vaig aprendre a conduir* va rebre el Premi Pulitzer 1998 i el Premi Tony en la seva reestrena de 2022. Una dona guarda un secret que, després d’anys de silenci, està a punt de revelar. Coseta –malnom que es va guanyar a l’instant de néixer, definida pel seu sexe– ens guia en un viatge emocional a través de les corbes de la memòria: al seient d’un cotxe, al menjador de casa, als passadissos de l’institut, allà on la seva educació afectiva i sexual es va construint, deformada per la visió misògina i sexualitzada del seu entorn. This year, Backstory is launching a **five-month Book Club series dedicated to Mercè Rodoreda**, one of the most renowned Catalan writers of the 20th century. The series runs from January to May, in parallel with the CCCB exhibition *Rodoreda, a forest*, and is designed to introduce English-speaking readers to Rodoreda’s work through its translations. Across five monthly sessions, we will read five key works by Rodoreda, guided by **translators and scholars who have played a central role in bringing her writing into English**. Each session combines close reading, contextual discussion, and open conversation, always in an accessible, non-academic format. Us convidem a viure una experiència única en **un dels conjunts monumentals més excepcionals de Catalunya**. Situat damunt d’una impressionant cinglera i envoltat pel pantà de Sau, el **Monestir de Sant Pere de Casserres no és només un monument; és un viatge en el temps al cor de l’edat mitjana.** La nostra propera activitat ens portarà a descobrir un espai on **el temps sembla haver-se aturat**. Des del moment que hi arribem, ens rebrà la fascinant història dels seus orígens: **la llegenda d’un infant noble que, amb només tres dies de vida, va dictar on s’havia d’erigir aquest cenobi sota l’advocació de sant Pere**. Aquesta aura de misteri ens acompanyarà mentre recorrem la seva església, una joia consagrada l’*any 1050* que sorprèn per la seva planta —més ampla que llarga—, adaptada de manera enginyosa a l’estretor de la roca sobre la qual descansa. Passejar per Sant Pere de Casserres és, literalment, entrar a la casa dels monjos de fa mil anys. Podrem caminar pel seu claustre, considerat **el més antic de Catalunya amb columnes exemptes**, i explorar dependències que han estat recuperades amb un detallisme excepcional. Des de la pau de la sala capitular fins a la fredor del celler on s’emmagatzemaven les rendes de la terra, cada racó ens parla de la vida quotidiana medieval. Especialment curiós és l’scriptórium, on encara es pot intuir el silenci dels copistes treballant sobre el pergamí, o la cuina i el refectori, reconstruïts amb una fidelitat històrica que ens permet imaginar els àpats de la comunitat mentre s’escoltaven les lectures des de la trona. No us podeu perdre aquesta oportunitat perquè Casserres **és molt més que pedres i història; és un supervivent**. Després de segles d’esplendor vinculat a Cluny, va patir la decadència, l’abandonament i fins i tot rituals esotèrics que van amenaçar la seva estructura, fins que una restauració exemplar a finals dels *anys 90* el va tornar a la vida. Avui, la seva ubicació espectacular i la riquesa del seu llegat el converteixen en **una visita imprescindible per a qualsevol amant de la cultura i el paisatge català**.
