Session 001
## **Let’s Make Something Real**
You’re invited to **Session 001**—the kickoff of a new collaborative series designed for one thing: **Pure Creation.**
We’re stripping away the gatekeeping and the endless tutorials. This isn’t a masterclass; it’s a digital jam session where the goal is to walk out with a track that has everyone’s DNA on it. Whether you’re a professional sound designer or you just bought your first MIDI controller yesterday, if you have ideas, we want them in the mix.
### **The Vibe**
* **Genre Agnostic:** From lo-fi beats and cinematic soundscapes to heavy techno or glitch—if it sounds good, it stays.
* **DAW Agnostic:** Logic, Ableton, FL Studio, Bitwig? It doesn't matter. Use the tools that help you speak.
* **Creation Over Teaching:** We believe the best way to learn is by doing. You’ll pick up tricks by osmosis, but our primary mission is the "Export" button.
*
### **How It Works**
We’re keeping the workflow lean so we can stay in the flow state:
1. **Bring Your Setup:** Laptop + DAW + Headphones. Ensure you’re ready to make noise the moment you plug in.
2. **The Master Mix:** We’ll have a central project running.
3. **The Drop:** We’ll use a shared Dropbox folder to swap stems, loops, and one-shots in real-time. You create a part, drop it in, and watch the track evolve.
### **The Essentials**
* **Who:** Creatives, noisemakers, and rhythmic thinkers of all skill levels.
* **The Goal:** Ensure every person in the room makes a tangible contribution to the final piece.
* **The Energy:** High vibes, zero ego, and a shared love for digital alchemy.
**Ready to plug in?** We’re keeping these sessions intimate to ensure the best workflow. Location and final logistics will be sent once your spot is confirmed.
**"Good energy, good people, and most importantly, good music."**
Mob Programming at Mofer Coffee
Let’s do some coding together at a cafe! No more working alone in the weekend. Here, we write code together. And I mean together together. Not occupying-the-same-space-but-separate together.
Here’s how it works: Jennifer brings her mobile app project, tells everyone that it is like Pinterest for recipes and she’d like to work on the nav bar. Paul and Chloe think Jennifer's project is fascinating, and they join the group. They gather around Jennifer’s laptop and work on the nav bar for 2 hours. Jennifer is the one typing out the code while Paul and Chloe research, brainstorm, and offer suggestions.
If you’re feeling stuck on your own project or need a motivation boost, bring it to mob programming!
Want to learn by watching how others code and solve problems? Join someone else’s project at this event!
Oh and we love your half-done projects that you are a bit embarrassed to share. Absolutely bring those to the event!
**Discord**:
We use Discord to share screen & code snippets during the event. Also feel free to share your projects here before the event!
https://discord.gg/Da9fZFxPfs
**Event policy**:
* We have 0 tolerance for harassment.
* We don’t allow the projects that are not meant to be shared in public such as school assignments, interview tasks, or trade secrets.
* The goal is to write code. We discourage you from pitching business ideas here, doing code reviews, or spending the whole event on planning what to do.
* Please buy a drink, and tip the barista well.
Improv For New Friends
Don't be disappointed if you don't see a bunch of people attending. I advertise this on multiple platforms and the class usually sells out.
Improv comedy uses several techniques to create laughter. These include, creating an atmosphere free of judgement, saying 'yes', active listening, being positive, putting your focus on others, and the importance of play and laughter.
Not coincidentally, these are the same things that happen to us naturally when we are bonding with another person.
In this class, we'll explore these techniques not with the goal of being funny, but with the goal of being people that other people want to be around.
The organizer, Ralph MacLeod, is a co-founder of two independent improv clubs in Toronto - Bad Dog Theatre and Social Capital Theatre. He's been teaching improv for over 30 years. He also teaches these same techniques to several organizations including UofT, Google, Kraft, Shopify and many, many more.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have!
FAQs and Good To Know....
After every event, a group from this class sit down and have a drink together so be prepared to stay if you want! Of course, you don't HAVE to.
You also don't have to be single or bring a friend. The vibe of this class is much more 'making new friends' than a 'singles' mixer'.
We usually run to 8:15 so pay for extra parking!
Game Dev Coffee Shop Meetup
Tired of spending time at home? Come hang out with some other Game Programmers, Artists, Audio Engineers, Musicians, Designers, Gamers etc... Bring your computer/devices if you want to share your projects!
We usually transition to a nearby bar after 8pm (coffee shop closes). So if you wanna pop in after 8, we're likely at [Wei Bar](https://goo.gl/maps/iVL3yBFywkR421Tq5) and if not, just hit up the discord and ask where we moved to. See you there!

This winter, we’re doing something a little different.
For International Women’s Day, join **CodeDiversity ×** [TigerBaby](https://www.instagram.com/tigerbabycc) for a cozy, hands-on **pottery + coffee social** designed for **women and non-binary folks in tech** who want to connect, slow down, and have some fun.

We’ll spend the afternoon:
* sharing coffee and conversation
* getting our hands dirty with clay *(no experience needed)*
* escaping winter isolation in a warm, welcoming space
* making new connections — **without networking pressure**
***
🧱 What’s Included
Your **$90 (tax included)** covers:
* A guided pottery workshop led by [TigerBaby](https://www.instagram.com/tigerbabycc)
* All materials
* Firing of your finished piece
***

[TigerBaby Coffee & Clay](https://www.instagram.com/tigerbabycc) is a Toronto-based creative brand rooted in slowing down, working with your hands, and finding joy in everyday rituals. Founded by siblings Sarah—a ceramics artist—and Thomas—a self-proclaimed specialty coffee nerd—TigerBaby brings together craft, care, and community.
In this hands-on pottery class, you’ll create your own ceramic mug from start to finish using hand-building techniques. This workshop is beginner-friendly and designed to feel calm, welcoming, and unhurried. You’ll be guided through shaping, attaching a handle, and refining your form, with plenty of time to explore the process and make the mug your own.
Quick reminders:
* This event is intended for **women & non-binary folks**
* No prior pottery experience required
* Attendance is confirmed **only after e-transfer is received**
* Please make sure your **RSVP name matches your e-transfer name**
If you’re craving connection, creativity, and a softer way to mark International Women’s Day, we’d love to have you join us!
**Important Notes for RSVPs** We’re introducing a few questions when you RSVP to help us manage space and ensure an inclusive environment:
**This is a space created to support people who are underrepresented in tech.** We ask **cisgender men** (men who were assigned male at birth and identify as male) to respect this and not attend.
**Photography & Video Disclaimer:** By attending this event, you acknowledge and agree that photographs and/or video recordings may be taken. These may be used for promotional purposes, including social media, websites, and other marketing materials. If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please inform the event organizer upon arrival.

#92: 1 Man Company Agentic Engineering:10 DOs & Don'ts
*You're one person. But you're doing the work of five.*
*Product spec? You write it. System architecture? You design it. Testing? You run it. Deployment? Still you.*
*This isn't a complaint — it's the daily reality of solo founders, independent engineers, and technical leads.*
***
*Harvard Business Review recently published a striking finding: they tracked 200 engineers over 9 months, and the conclusion was counterintuitive —*
***People who used AI ended up with more work, not less.***
*Work faster, get assigned more. More tools, more context-switching. AI amplified the existing pace of work — it didn't change it.*
*This research captured what many of us already feel: AI hasn't freed us — it just made us busier. But that also means the problem isn't AI. It's how we use it.*
***
*In this talk, the speaker will draw on his own real projects to break down how he uses the **Agentic Engineering** methodology to genuinely achieve the output of a full engineering team — as one person.*
*Not using AI to chat — but making AI your product manager, your engineering team, your engineering culture, and your DevOps.*
*He's been there. The 10 DOs & Don'ts are the practical checklist he built from those mistakes.*
***
What You'll Take Away**
*Not a theoretical framework — a set of judgment principles you can apply the same night:*
Raycast *When to use Claude, when to switch to Codex, when to reach for Raycast*
Why optimizing your prompt before asking can double output quality*
Plan Mode *The difference between Plan Mode and direct chat — and when you must use Plan Mode*
* 如何把反复有效的提示词固化为跨项目的 Skill 资产 *How to crystallize effective prompts into reusable Skills that compound across projects*
* 如何搭建一套多机可同步、一行命令恢复的 1 Man Company 工程环境 *How to build a 1 Man Company engineering environment: portable, multi-machine, one-command recovery*
***
Who Should Attend**
*Engineers who are using AI to code but haven't found their rhythm yet. Independent developers or solo founders who want to push their personal productivity ceiling higher. Technical practitioners curious about Agentic AI but without real-world reference points yet.*
*No prior knowledge of Claude or Codex required. If you've ever felt that "AI just isn't helping me the way it should" — this talk is for you.*

"Creative people who cherish the gift of life often slip into the secret chambers of the creative mind. Their solutions are well-rounded, more sensible than those of people who rely solely upon reason as their mainstay. Gratitude unseals fountains of creativity, because a grateful person is relaxed. This allows him to take stock of these circumstances with an objective mind. A creative person often gets three-dimensional answers to his problems."

Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Whether you've never done improv before, or you've done it for so long you knew Del Close on a personal level, or anywhere in between, come join us! Swing by *Gresso's* for the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup** for some fun and games!
The idea behind improv is to create entire scenes from scratch based on a suggestion from the audience. This can be done in game form, like *Whose Line Is It Anyway*, *ComedySportz*, or *Wild 'n Out*; it could also be done to tell stories, like *Middleditch and Schwartz*. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and free!) weekly comedy event, brings the games (and occasionally different forms) for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Not only is it a lot of fun, but you get to work on thinking faster on your feet, plus it's an excellent way to meet new people and make friendships that'll last a lifetime!
Ask yourself if you want to join the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup**, and say "Yes, And" that you'll have fun!
