Art Exhibition & Performance—Arash Nassiri
Art Exhibition & Performance—Arash Nassiri
This is a free event that requires reservation: [https://chisenhale.org.uk/whats-on/live-programme-iii/](https://chisenhale.org.uk/whats-on/live-programme-iii/) In [A Bug’s Life](https://chisenhale.org.uk/project/arash-nassiri-2/)*,* a moving image installation by Tehran-born, Berlin-based artist [Arash Nassiri](https://www.instagram.com/arash.nassiri/?hl=en), viewers are taken through a Beverly Hills mansion evoking the ostentatious, neoclassical style favoured by Los Angeles’ Iranian diaspora in the 1980s-90s. Shot from the viewpoint of an insect puppet voiced by Nassiri’s mother, the film continues a body of work interrogating architecture, space, memory and migration, as well as the fading aesthetics of a lost urban life. The film will be shown as part of his first institutional solo exhibition at London’s Chisenhale Gallery. ## Readings & Performance The third of three nights curated by writer, researcher, and radio host Nihal El Aasar in response to Nassiri’s new commission. London-based contributors will join Nihal for an exploration of memory and political resonance through words and sound. 🌸 World Citizens Friday Social in Covent Garden 🌍🍸 International Friends ✨🌙
🌸 World Citizens Friday Social in Covent Garden 🌍🍸 International Friends ✨🌙
Want to meet friendly people, unwind after a busy week, and connect with curious minds from around the world in a relaxed setting? You’ve come to the right place! Our **Friday Social** is the warm, conversation-friendly alternative to the typical nights out. Whether you're new to London or have been here for years, you're very welcome! 💬 **What to Expect** * A chilled-out vibe in a central London venue, perfect for making real connections—not just small talk. * Friendly, international people (ages 20s–30s) who value openness, kindness, and curiosity. * Great conversations, new friends, and possibly an optional after-party if the mood is right. *We typically host 50–80 people each week, and many attendees return regularly!* *** 🎟 **How to Join – Entry by Free Lottery** To ensure a safe, inclusive and diverse space, attendance is **limited** and managed through a free lottery system. This helps us keep a great group dynamic and prevent overcrowding. 👉 [Click here](https://worldcitizenfridays.eventbrite.co.uk/) to enter the ticket lottery via Eventbrite (or go to [https://worldcitizenfridays.eventbrite.co.uk/](https://worldcitizenfridays.eventbrite.co.uk/)). Winners will receive the exact location by email a few hours before the event. ⏰ **Timing:** Arrive anytime from 7:00 PM. Most people stay until 11PM (or head to the after-party!). 📍 **Location:** A central London pub near Covent Garden (5–10 mins walk from the Meetup map pin). Exact details are shared with lottery winners only. *** ✅ **Who It's For** * You're new to London or simply want to expand your circle. * You enjoy thoughtful, informal conversation. * You want a social space that isn’t dominated by loud music or heavy drinking (though drinks are optional!). **We proudly encourage diversity at our events!** *** 🧭 **Three Simple Guidelines** 1. Be respectful of everyone, including space and boundaries. 2. Come with a friendly, open attitude. 3. Don’t arrive intoxicated—this is a chill and respectful crowd. *** 🙋‍♀️ **Want to Help or Get Involved?** We’re always looking for warm, welcoming people to help greet newcomers and grow this special community. 📩 Ask the host or message "TP" if you’d like to get involved. 🌟 **Explore More** Love this vibe? We also run: * **Saturday Café in Chelsea** ☕ – perfect for deeper chats over coffee * **Walks, museum visits & more** – to discover London together! Keep an eye on our main [World Citizens events page](https://www.meetup.com/worldcitizen/) for what’s coming up next. *** **DISCLAIMER:** We are a 100% volunteer-run team. Despite careful planning and structure this is a private informal activity, so we cannot be liable for any damage or inconvenience. However, we put safety and comfort first. We take all complaints seriously, and take severe action against any form of harassment, verbal or non-verbal, and anti-social behaviour. We collaborate with the police if needed. We take photos and videos which may include you to help promote the community in line with GDPR Data Protection law, as well as stock photos from Pexels or Unsplash. Cine: Se permuta (House of Swap) - Cuba
Cine: Se permuta (House of Swap) - Cuba
La película empieza a las 16.20 no hay publicidad ni trailers de otras películas antes. Después de la película nos tomaremos algo para compartir nuestras impresiones. Screened in partnership with [Screen Cuba](https://www.thegardencinema.co.uk/partner/screen-cuba/) Juan Carlos Tabío, Cuba, 1983, 103m. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with special guests from Cuba, distinguished cinema actors Mirtha Ibarra and Eslinda Núñez. This film heralded a new genre of sociocritical comedy in Cuba and was the debut feature of director Juan Carlos Tabio. It is full of Cubanisms – popular everyday problems, language and attitudes of that era and a range of characters from an idealist architect to an opportunistic bureaucrat. Gloria wants her adult daughter to find a husband she considers a “good match” and engineers a chain of house swaps to move to a “better neighbourhood” to make things go her way, but her daughter has different ideas and wants to love who she wants. It examines the desire to get ahead in a society that says everyone is equal but also celebrates the resourcefulness with which people solve their own problems.

Let's try a Friday Night Fish Fry!
Let's try a Friday Night Fish Fry!
We thought of one of the interesting things that can be enjoyed at this time of the year. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM. It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily. I'll try to have signs outside Marian Hall that Identify our group. We hope to have you join us!
