🔴🏞️ Day Trip & Hike: Cheddar Gorge (Private Minicoach) 🚌 [FULL]
Cheddar Gorge is England’s largest gorge, stretching for three miles, with cliffs rising nearly 400 feet (122 meters) high. It was formed roughly 1.2 million years ago during the last Ice Age, carved out by melting glaciers and ancient river. In 1903, the oldest, almost complete human skeleton in Britain, the 10,000 year old "Cheddar Man" was discovered in Gough’s Cave. We are heading to the birthplace of Cheddar cheese! Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company still matures its cheese inside these caves today - you can even purchase some to take home. 💺 **Limited spaces (private minibus): Please initially add yourself to the waitlist > wait for message > make payment > you'll be added to going list.** 🏷️ **Please note:** Priority is given to regular and reliable/new attendees for such events. *Why? London Indoor Bouldering morning
London Indoor Bouldering morning
Join OutdoorLads weekly Saturday bouldering morning event at Vauxwall West - please check our main event page on our website (link in the comments below). We welcome all members of the LGBTQ+ community, and you will be socialising with a supportive group boulderers who are always happy to introduce complete beginners to the sport or solve difficult bouldering problems together. This event is for members of all levels of experience and all are welcome to come along to any of the sessions. Bouldering is unique. There are few sports out there that offer a mental and physical challenge no matter what skill level you are at. Each route consists of several holds that the climber uses, focusing on problem-solving and technical movements to help them reach the top. No two routes are ever the same, and the colour-coded system indicates the difficulty level, so there's a climb for everyone to enjoy! If you have never tried bouldering before, please ensure that you have gone through the centre's safety and induction video beforehand (https://londonclimbingcentres.co.uk/pre-register/) as you will be required to answer a few safety questions when registering at the centre.

Seven sisters spectacular coastal hike, ending in picturesque East Dean
Seven sisters spectacular coastal hike, ending in picturesque East Dean
**This is a challenging hike with several options to shorten if needed.** Hike the Seven Sisters, the Chalk Cliffs of Sussex, one of the most scenic coastal regions in the south downs of England. **GRADE:** Intermediate / Challenging 23 km 13 miles 670m of ascent and approx 7 hrs hiking time without breaks. This is a spectacular coastal hike with breathtaking views of the dramatic chalk sea cliffs on the English Channel coast in south-east England, ending in East Dean, a beautiful South Downs village close to Beachy Head and Birlig Gap beach, where Sherlock Holmes went to retire! The name "Seven sisters", according to a legend, comes from seven sisters who lived on these limestone formations, each of them had a house between these hills. In fact there are now eight cliffs as an extra one has been created by coastal erosion. Starting in the pretty town of Seaford on the Sussex coast we follow the coastal path passing the Martello Tower and follow the Vanguard way to Seaford Head. We undulate along the sea cliffs to drop down to the Cuckmere Estuary and wildlife reserve, stopping for lunch at the cafe and visitor centre. Later we join the South Downs Way and enter the Seven Sisters Country Park where a steep climb leads us to the trig point at Cliff End. From here we follow the cliff edge path over the Seven Sisters cliff to Birlig Gap. After Birlig Gap there is a steady climb past Belle Tout, a former lighthouse, and onto the spectacular Beachy Head with possibly the finest views in Southern England. We then make our way inland towards East Dean picturesque village where we can finish our hike in a delightful old smugglers pub, before making our way back home! From East Dean we can take the bus, the Coaster 12/12A/12X service from East Dean Bus Shelter to Eastbourne. These buses are very frequent and operate up to every 10 minutes. Details can be found here: [Coaster 12X - Eastbourne - Brighton | Brighton & Hove Buses](https://www.buses.co.uk/services/BH/12X#disruptions). Journey time: 22 min and cost: approx £3. In Eastbourne there is a regular train service to London Victoria, every 30 minutes. **COST**: £10.00 organiser fee pay on RSVP **MEETING POINT & TIME**: 08:20 at Victoria station, in front of the main train ticket office. Second meeting point at 10:20 at Seaford station. **TRAINS**: Trains from London Victoria station. We will take the 08:54 to Seaford via Lewes, arriving at Seaford at 10:19 (journey time 1hr 25 min, 1 change at Lewes). We will return from Eastbourne. You can purchase group save tickets (minimum group of 3) or with Network railcard approx at approx £28, return train tickets for Eastbourne. **WALK STARTS**: 10:20 at Seaford station **WALK FINISHES**: Approx 18:00 at East Dean. Folkestone → Deal Coastal Traverse (27k)
Folkestone → Deal Coastal Traverse (27k)
We are taking on 18 miles along one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the UK. Think sea air, big open views, quiet chats as we walk, and that steady rhythm you only get on a long hike. It is not just about the distance - it is about the experience. The moments where the group spreads out, then comes back together. The snack breaks that somehow taste better by the sea. That feeling when your legs are tired, but your head feels clear. **The plan:** Distance: 18.5 miles Difficulty: Hard Time: 8–9 hrs Train tickets: purchase off-peak return to do Dover Priory with national rail card. Sea views + cliffs + iconic Kent coastline We will start in Deal and follow the coast towards the cliffs, moving at a steady, social pace. There will be time to pause, take it in, and enjoy it — no rush, no pressure, just a shared challenge. By the end, you’ll have walked 18 miles, met some great people, and probably feel a little different than when you started (in a good way). **Bring:** * Comfortable walking shoes / boots * Water and snacks * Weather-appropriate clothing **⚠️ Important: Refund Policy & Weather Notice** This hike runs rain or shine. No refunds are available, but spots can be transferred with 48 hours’ notice. Are you in? Spaces are limited - RSVP now!

Amberley to Worthing – South Downs backcountry paths & Cissbury Ring
Amberley to Worthing – South Downs backcountry paths & Cissbury Ring
**WHAT TO EXPECT - HIKING INFO** Distance: **25km** (c. 15 miles) Ascent: c. **585m** Estimated Duration (approx): **7 hours walking (moderate pace 4km/hr)** Difficulty: **Energetic** **HIGHLIGHT** · Great views from Amberley Mount and Rackman Hill · Undulating paths over the downs heading south towards Worthing · Slow ascents and descents on remote paths away from South Downs Way · Visit the ancient and most historic hill fort in Sussex – The Cissbury Ring. · Optional sea swim at the end! **DESCRIPTION** *This walk is on paths less travelled over South Downs rolling hills with fantastic views along the way. There is an optional sea swim at the end for those who want to cool off after a good day’s walk.* This is a beautiful part of the south downs with fantastic views and rolling hills - and with some neolithic and bronze age history along our way. We start our walk in Amberley as we head up our first hill onto the South Downs to Rackman Hill for fantastic views looking north towards the North Downs – hopefully we will have good views on the day. We then head south over rolling hills and forlorn paths, meeting locals who know the less travelled parts of the south downs. I have chosen a route which meanders past other settlement hills and hopefully with views over to the sea. We pass Finden for a refreshment stop after 14km (no pub stops before then). We then head over to Cissbury Ring – the oldest hill fort on the South Downs Way. It boasts much history - a neolithic flint mines, bronze age burial ground, iron age hill fort, a roman mint, a tudor vantage point before it was investigated archeologically by the Victorians. Then onto Worthing for a drink and a swim! Option at this stage is to head back to London or go down to Worthing Pier and have a swim. *ps. My walks make time to enjoy the views, take in local history, and look at interesting buildings along the way.* **PROGRAMME** You can choose to **meet at London Victoria or the Hike Starting Point**. The Castle climbing wall, "Storm the breach" Sunday mornings!
**About** THE CASTLE CLIMBING CENTER has about 135 roped/auto-belays numbered routes with each route having up to 6 grades giving it approx 700 routes in total. THE CASTLE CLIMBING CENTER offers bouldering, top-roping, leading and auto-belays at their center. Some of us prefer bouldering while others will be in the top roping, leading or auto-belaying - this is up to you! We climb for a couple of hours and then the group regroups at 12.00 noon sometimes without me other times with me in The Brownswood pub, 271 Green Lanes, Finsbury Park, London N4 2EX for a spot of lunch and a libation. (https://goo.gl/maps/S4FZ9j1AYMPDs7uQ6) a stone's throw from the castle. **Meetups** We get together every Thursday & Sunday at THE CASTLE CLIMBING CENTER meeting at 9:00am in the warming up area or else look out for someone wearing a black RAMS t-shirt around the center. If you're joining for the first time let us know via message and we will keep an eye out for you at the start :) **New Climbers!** Unfortunately, if you haven't climbed before it isn't as easy as just turning up and climbing up the wall. To climb safely you need to understand the hazards and be able to use the equipment correctly. You must have basic climbing skills and know how to put on a harness, attach a rope to a harness using a rethreaded figure of eight(figure of eight on the bight) and know how to use a belay device to pay out the rope and secure a falling climber etc. So before your first climb, you may be required by the climbing center to fill out health and safety forms. This may involve a quick test on climbing rules at the counter on arrival. Please add an extra 10/15 minutes before your session if you need to register for the first time. THE CASTLE CLIMBING CENTER terms and conditions will apply. Please also note signing up for the Meetup session won’t necessarily grant you access to the center. **Other communication** Within these groups, you are possibly likely to develop long-lasting friendships. Don't forget we have a Discord page and WhatsApp https://chat.whatsapp.com/JNJ81oLSKB2JGaNm79em0C. The group will always be very varied when it comes to climbing levels, abilities and modality preferences. Do shout out if you have any questions. If you want to have a chat about this or other meetups, or just to keep in touch, ask to join us on Discord and/or WhatsApp. We have a dedicated THE CASTLE CLIMBING CENTER chat, but also talk about all things climbing (and some non-climbing!) including trips, gear talks and looking for climbing partner/s situations. **You’ll Rock it** A word of warning this sport is very, very addictive once bitten your its mistress for life. The simple challenge of you against the rock is sublime, there are competitions but then really the only real competition is 'you and the rock'. As climbing can be a very social activity we look forward to sharing our passion with yours. *Happy climbing!* p.s. Eventually, we will be starting and incorporating our climbing academy where we aim to bring skills, ropework and technique etc to enhance your climbing ability, using 25mm chalk bag colored belts to indicate your level. Naturally, THE CASTLE CLIMBING CENTER will also run courses to help improve your techniques too. Contact THE CASTLE CLIMBING CENTER for more info.

Our hike concludes in the charming village of **Eynsford**, where we explore the evocative ruins of **Eynsford Castle**, a Norman stronghold built in 1088. With its riverside setting, ancient remains and traditional cottages, the village provides a perfect finale to a day steeped in history and countryside beauty. **Guide:** • Leader: [JOHN](https://www.outdooraholics.co.uk/MeetTheOutdooraholics.pdf) • Contact (hike day only): 07508 511026 ️ **Food:** • Bring a packed lunch • Pub visit after the hike (drinks optional) **What to Bring** • Hiking boots/shoes • Water (2 litres minimum) • Packed lunch • Waterproofs (jacket and trousers) • Hat and gloves if cold • Train tickets are arranged – just meet us at the meeting point ⚠️ **Safety** Your guide is a trained hike leader and Outdoor Activity First Aider ❓ **Want to Know More?** • [New to Our Trips?](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/new_to_our_day_hikes.pdf) (perfect for first-timers, answers “what to expect”) • [About Us](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/about_us.pdf) (who Outdooraholics are, credibility, history) • [FAQs](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/FAQ.pdf) (covers common queries) **Explore More &** **Stay Connected** [Day hikes list](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/hikesbygrade.pdf) [Calendar - All trips](https://www.meetup.com/outdooraholics/events/calendar/) [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/outdooraholics/) [Facebook page](https://www.facebook.com/Outdooraholics) & [Photos group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/Outdooraholics) **Terms and Conditions** By signing up or attending you agree to our [Terms and Conditions](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/TermsConditionsOutdooraholicsHikingUK.pdf) © Outdooraholics Hiking UK Ltd 2026 E & OE

HASTINGS Country Park Cliff top walk to Three Oaks - a Majestic coastal hike
HASTINGS Country Park Cliff top walk to Three Oaks - a Majestic coastal hike
Let's go to the sea and visit the beautiful town of Hastings, its country park, where I will show you some little known stunning views of the sea and the last remaining rain forest of England! And some pretty traditional villages. Hikers are always pleasantly surprised with this trip so even if you are wondering if it is worth it, it really is worth it! On the top of that, it is the beginning of bluebells season and wild garlic and although the carpet won't be at its best yet, there should be some nice patched at the end of the hike so bring your camera! The town gives its name to the Battle of Hastings, which took place 8 mi (13 km) to the north-west at Senlac Hill in 1066. It later became one of the medieval Cinque Ports. In the 19th century, it was a popular seaside resort, as the railway allowed tourists and visitors to reach the town. Today, Hastings is a fishing port with the UK's largest beach-based fishing fleet. We will walk the cliff top, beaches and country park, have a trip along a magnificent coastline, in the woods with some views... There will be a few inclines during the first part of the hike, nothing too demanding, and the second part will be easier. After a break at the clifftop cafe we will carry on towards the bluebell forest, not sure how purple it will be as it is the beginning but we had some nice colours last year... As always on my trails, you will have some stunning sceneries and a lovely day out with some funny people at a relaxing pace. No rushing, just the enjoyment of the day surrounded by nature and history. Afterwards, we will take the train back to Hastings where you can either join me for a drink or a meal or change for the train back to London. INFORMATION: Distance: 11 Miles/17 km Duraction:5 hours Steepness: Medium, a few ups and down during the second half PLEASE HAVE WATERPROOF SHOES WITH A GOOD GRIP, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO DO THIS HIKE WITH TRAINERS AS IT WILL GET REALLY MUDDY. PRICE: £15 for the guide's fee via Paypal About £27 in cash or via bank transfer on the day before departure for the train ticket, we will buy a group return ticket together to save about 35% The train to Hastings takes about 1h45 minutes. INCLUDED: Guided hike A great time with lovely people NOT INCLUDED: Train Anything not mentioned above WHAT TO BRING: Waterproof shoes for the hike, preferably hiking shoes, otherwise good trainers; Weather appropriate clothes, including waterproofs if there is a chance of rain; Water bottle; Packed lunch and snacks.
