SMT Bluegrass and Oldtime Faculty Concert
SMT is hosting a Summer Faculty Concert Series to celebrate the traditions we love and to give the community a chance to see some of our illustrious teachers in action. This series is also a great chance for teachers to mix things up and collaborate with other teachers who they may not usually have a chance to perform with. The first concert will feature Bebe Blumenthal, Jonathan Vocke, Luke Chohany, and Justin Heath in a night of old-time and bluegrass.
Tickets are free but donations are welcome. Seating is limited so please rsvp and let us know if your plans change.

The Jailhouse Rock SOJO (6/6/26)
For Elvis Presley's birthday, lets add some of his songs into the mix! See you at SOJO!
Seasoned SOJO'ers already know the program, but below are all the details which may be helpful to our new members.
MOST IMPORTANT POINTS:
1. Feel free to bring lyrics and chords for your favorite songs to hand out. If you'd like to bring a song that most people don't know well, see if you can find a YouTube link and post it in the comments when you RSVP. We'd like to listen a few times before the SOJO to get the hang of it.
2. If you have copies of Rise Up Singing and Rise Again, please bring them. If you don't, we have extras available for you to borrow (one time only, please). Both books are easy to find and order online. And here's a link to find YouTube Videos of any song in either book. https://www.riseupandsing.org/songs/search
3. Bring something to drink, as singing is likely to make you thirsty.
4. We appreciate (but do not require) contributions to cover our room rental costs of $100 per session.
5. Please do RSVP. It helps us know how to set up the room and allows us to contact you if we have to cancel.
***
FURTHER DETAILS, if you like:
* Our regular gatherings take place on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. We meet from 2 to 5 p.m. with a break around 3:30. You can come for the whole time or just part of it. If you can arrive a little early to help set up or stay a little late to help put things back in order, that would be great. Occasionally we take pictures of our events. If you would rather not be photographed, just politely let the person with the camera know and step out of view. We'll be respectful of your wishes.
Whether you're new to SOJO or not so new, we look forward to singing and playing with you!

Feel Good Friday: POWER BALLAD at the Gateway Film Center + SHAKE NO. 8!
Join us as we get together to see Paul Rudd in the latest comedy-drama-musical from John Carney, POWER BALLAD! The film follows a washed-up wedding singer, a fading boy band singer and a stolen hit song. Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: Rick, a washed-up wedding singer, and Danny, a fading boy band star, bond over music and a late-night jam session. When Danny turns Rick's song into a hit, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves. Power Ballad is written/directed by John Carney, the master of the modern musical and creative mind behind Once, Begin Again and Sing Street! It stars Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas, Peter McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu and Jack Reynor.
BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The film premiered to rave reviews at this year’s Dublin International Film Festival where critics call it “a sure-fired crowd-pleaser” that “just might be the feel-good hit of the year!” Others say, “Paul Rudd delivers a career-best performance in this charmer” that’s both “hilarious and deeply moving." The film continues John Carney’s “long run of success with yet another charmer” and “a sharp, hopeful crowd-pleaser that strikes the right notes!”
