Our second meetup will be to the longstanding live music venue of Blujaz, located near Bugis. I was last there many many years ago, but there's free live music every single night! We'll each pay for our own food and/or drink (let's support the venue by purchasing something), and get to enjoy what's likely to be some swingy jazz music that evening. It is pretty free and easy so if you might need to arrive late or leave early that's fine too. To join just RSVP and I'll help make the table reservation for the group. So the venue doesn't hold seats it doesn't need to, do let me know one day before if you're not able to make it anymore. We will begin our jog/run from Anchorvale CC towards Punggol using Sengkang Riverside Park running route, U-turn back to Anchorvale CC once we hit 2.5KM mark (Total distance 5KM) After that, we will end our run @ Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre to mingle and chit chat (No obligation to join for post run session) Notes: ► As there is no storage space for your belongings, do travel light. ► We will do a warm-up at 7.30PM and the run will start at 7.45PM sharp. ► This is a rain-or-shine event. Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
