Now in its 18th year, the WeGotTickets Musical Comedy Awards is an annual competition to support, promote, expose and celebrate the best emerging musical comedians in the UK. If you are a fan of musical comedy acts such as Tim Minchin, Flight Of The Conchords and Flo & Joan, you'll love this show! Our official patron since 2025 is Bill Bailey MBE.
Over the years, the MCAs have provided a launch pad to now established and emerging stars of the genre such as Frisky and Mannish (2009 Finalists), Abandoman (2010 winners), Rachel Parris (Runner Up 2012 and star of The Mash Report), Mae Martin, Jazz Emu, Katie Norris and many more. The MCAs have created a thriving independent platform to celebrate the artform that is musical comedy. Other acts that have featured as headliners in our shows include David O'Doherty, Bo Burnham, Rubberbandits, Mitch Benn, Jay Foreman, Pippa Evans, Tom Basden, Isy Suttie, Ginger & Black, Earl Okin, Flo & Joan, Wilson Dixon, Jo Neary, Mr B. The Gentleman Rhymer, Sarah-Louise Young, Adams & Rae and many more.

Impro In The Flesh - Informal Workshop And Jam (London)
*'It was a journey towards conquering our fears and limitations and unlocking our fullest potential.'* \- Sarah Kent\, former visual arts editor of London's Time Out
Details and bookings here:
https://imprology.com/G201469/we.shtml
Please aim to arrive 15 minutes early so we can all start on time.
Pay Forward £30 - Regular £25 - Starter £20
**1\. Do I need any experience to join?**
No. This weekend is for anyone curious about being more present, playful, and connected. Impro experience or none at all—you’re welcome. Some participants have been doing it for years, and some are just starting.
**2\. What if I’m shy\, nervous\, or feel out of place?**
That’s completely fine. This retreat is built to include you exactly as you are. Nothing to prove, nothing to perform. Just start where you are and let things unfold.
**3\. Will I have to perform?**
Not if you don't want to. It's all Open Space: you only do what feels right for you. Sometimes things will be funny, but we’re not aiming for it.
**4\. Will I have to be funny?**
Sometimes things will be funny, but we’re not aiming for it.
**5\. What actually happens during a class?**
We breathe, stretch, move, play, speak, and rest. Some games are full-body and wordless. Others are about listening, timing, and presence. If it's a retreat, there’s food, silence, laughter, and space to do nothing at all.
**6\. What should I bring?**
Clothes that you can move and rest in. If it's a retreat, shoes or boots for walking, swimsuit, mosquito repellent, allergy medication if needed and anything that helps you feel at ease. We’ll take care of the rest.
**7\. What do people leave with?**
A quieter mind. Looser body. Sharper attention. A sense of having been part of something real.
**8\. How many people will be there?**
Usually around 6 to 8 people for a class or a retreat. Enough to play, small enough to stay close. It can be much more in a jam, six to 40 in our experience.
This is a journey into the heart of improvisation inviting you to rediscover the joy of play, the beauty of improvisation, and the transformative power of connection.
Through original exercises and guided explorations, you'll build trust with your partners, engage fully with your intuitions and tap into your audience's "secret wishes" to improvise compelling scenes and stories.
This workshop celebrates the courage to leap into the unknown, conjuring an environment where mistakes become gifts and collaboration sparks magic.
Whether you're a performer seeking fresh inspiration or simply someone eager to explore the art of being present, "Now or Never" offers a supportive space to practice active listening, fearless vulnerability, and the art of doing rather than trying. Imprology unique approach to improvisation eliminates pre-planning and second-guessing to empower performers with a “now or never” approach to improvisation.
Come as you are, and leave with a renewed sense of freedom, connection, and possibility.
Come and Play Chamber Music
Come and play Chamber Music at my house on Sunday March 15th;
Time as suits between 2:15pm and 9:30pm
Please include instruments and expected times in your response, and follow the following requested precautions when coming:
Attendance requirements:
Please do not come if you are unwell or if you know you were recently exposed to people with Covid or flu.
Suggested standard is AB grade7 or NVQ level5 to professional, but in the end the ability to play with others is more important than instrumental technique
I provide the following:
Up to six playing spaces for groups of up to 12, 8, 6, 6, 6 and 3, respectively.
One of the six-person playing-rooms has a carefully-chosen Steinway model B which will be available from about 5:45. Other rooms provide a Clavinova CLP575, a Clavinova 625, and an A415 harpsichord (all in different rooms).
I have violins, violas, cello and a friend's 3/4 double bass available to play for multi-instrumentalists who do not wish to carry too much (please check before coming). I have a decent library of chamber music mostly for strings and for strings and piano; and in practice at least one wind player usually comes equipped with appropriate music (I will provide warning to winds should this ever not be the case).
As this is my private home, details of the location will be emailed by early Sunday to those who have already signed up. Please confirm instruments, chosen timing and the attendance requirements
You will see that available playing times are very long - and I can extend until 10:30pm if appropriate. The intention is to allow us to space out and to minimise infection risks - as well as to give multiple pianists access.
Please bring a music stand (let me know if this is difficult or impractical, as I can provide a limited number).
There will be beverages and biscuits.
I have revised the anonymous contribution arrangement - it is now a rectangular tin on the high side in the kitchen. Please give if you can - we sometimes have insurance costs to cover as well as basic meetUp subscription; any surplus (wishful thinking so far) will be used to help extend the music library
The list of signed-up players (by instrument and with timing) is now in the comments below; I will try to keep this reasonably up to date
I have probably omitted things you need to know. Please ask. (Ditto apparent errors)
Looking forward
George

Tango on Sunday: GANCHO special! And Los Angelitos milonga with guest TDJ
**Sunday 15/03: GANCHO special! And Los Angelitos milonga *with guest TDJ.***
**✨ What a blast last Sunday at the Women’s Day special! Thank you to the many of you who came to dance with us 💛**
We love Ganchos! This Sunday we will be extra playful and will show you exciting ganchos that will put a big smile on your face, guaranteed! We will start with your 2pm beginner / improver lessons (*my first Gancho*), followed by the 3pm Intermediate & Advanced class looking at beautiful steps and variants of ganchos, some of them a little more challenging, for your greatest pleasure – and immediately usable set for the milonga.
**The LOS ANGELITOS milonga will start at 4.30pm with Guest TDJ Rocks who will craft the most danceable tandas from the Golden Age, and his signature fun cortinas too! Last tanda at 7.30PM**. Bailamos?
**Wait! What are ganchos and why are they special?**
Ganchos are one of the most exciting elements in tango because they combine precision, surprise, and playful interaction between partners. A gancho happens when one dancer’s leg hooks around the other’s, at times in a tight space, creating a sharp and elegant movement that appears almost spontaneous. When led and timed well with the music, ganchos feel like a spark in the dance—quick, dramatic, and expressive—adding a moment of intensity and connection that both dancers find thrilling.
