**A Call to Magic for Global Safety** Come join me in a special ritual, when the moon is still waxing in the sign of Leo, to make a sacred circle and call upon one of the fiercest goddesses in myth and legends. Sekhmet the Lion-headed warrior Goddess. Normally in our Sekhmet rituals at Leo new moons, we invoke and calm her rage and thirst with beer and wine. This time, however, on a waxing leo full moon, we shall invoke her and petition her to vanquish warmongering tyrants. The how and where and when - we leave to the wisdom of the warrior Goddess! **Wars are nothing new -** sadly! But now, a dark force is rising fast in the western world - and some tyrrants have managed to unravel centuries of peace, and driven by whims and egos, they theaten to instigate a new wars! Many people would think this will pass. Others will say its all Fated. More will say there are lessons to be learnt and we must not interfere! Evil wins and when good people do nothing. And while politicians are paralysed and very measured in their reactions, can we Witches and magicians really afford to sit and wait? Come stand in a ritual Circle - and Call this warrior Goddess Goddess to stop these Tyrannt.! **RITUAL what to expect** \-\-\-\- * We start with a brief **pathworking** \- a guided visualisation for stillness and energy opening\. This is followed by **consecration** where each person is blessed with consecrated water & incense. Then a **magic circle** is cast with a wand, and visualisation of a protective bubble / sphere around us. **Elements** Air, fire, water, earth are called in east, south, west, north. We raise **group energy** with easy chants while circling around or infront of the altar. * Then call on \*\* **Goddess** \*\* energies. Sometimes a titual team member (or a selected attendee) plays the role of the Moon Goddess. 4-5 ladies may be asked to take on Goddess-support roles, circling the Goddess and using Goddess related chants to raise energy. * We then have a moment for some **magic/ spell working**. This varies each time. **Feasting & social:** We finish the ceremony with communal blessing of all the food & drinks people brought, share some thoughts/ feed-back, then close circle and feast. **Duration:** 7.00pm for meeting by Millennium Bridge. We have created a wonderful project to learn the classic form of deep buttoned upholstery – but made with a time-saving modern method using sheet foam. Banish those fuddy duddy club chair ideas and say hello to upholstery with a new twist; bright colours, shiny fabrics and funky feet. One of the modules that professional upholsterers are examined on is the process of deep buttoning. The correct height of foam is selected and applied to a base. Holes are made in the base and foam. We have a traditional button press you will use to make your own buttons in whatever fabric you choose, in the same fabric as your footstool or bring 10cm of a contrasting colour. The top fabric is then folded and pleated and the button is knotted to hold the folds together. It is fitted with ‘Cabriole’ legs to complete the project. You will learn enough know how to take away a skill to make your own headboard, banquette (I love that word) or anything else you can imagine. It’s easier than it looks and comes together in such a satisfying way. The dimensions for our footstool are 540mm x 360mm and we have allowed enough time and materials to make 9 deep buttoned holes. This size is about the smallest unit possible to learn the process of deep buttoning as an upholstery technique. We provide everything for the workshop, from the wood frame to the set of natural beech wood legs that are included for you to paint or stain as you wish. We will give you guidance if you want to know different techniques for the wood.

The area offers walking trails through marsh, woodland, and heath, through some muddy paths over a eerie terrain preserving delicate ecosystems. We will be walking over sandy paths through ancient established woodlands, heather and gorse and see evidence of bush fire in 2006 which has left a blackened moonscape. We then continue south up to Devils Punchbowl, a deep depression believed to be the result of erosion caused by spring water beneath the sandstone, causing the upper level to collapse. We continue on our way to Hindhead and Haslemere along the Greensand Way to end up in a pub for a deserved drink. Dale Gnidovec, Curator of the Orton Hall Museum of Geology at The Ohio State University, will be presenting a program he has wanted to share with us for a long time: Plate Tectonics. His description of his program: Continents on the move - Nothing in Earth history makes sense without moving continents - it tells us why mountains, volcanoes, minerals, and fossils are where they are. This talk examines the evidence for continental drift, why it was disbelieved, and explains how the more-encompassing theory of plate tectonics was developed and eventually proven. Dale is an energetic, incredibly knowledgeable, and very entertaining speaker and this will be another wonderful program by Dale. Hope to see you there! Food and drinks will be provided at the event.
