MT STURGEON hike Distance: 7 km return Time: 2.5- 3 hours Elevation change: 343m Grade: hard MT ABRUPT and Signal Peak hike Distance: 10.8km return Time: 4 - 5 hours Elevation change: 634m Grade: hard 【Itinerary】 Day 1: Meet up at Melbourne by each car around 8:30am. Drive to the campground near grampians (Dunkeld caravan park), arrive around 11:30 am. Set up tents and have a quick lunch. Do the Mount Sturgeon hike and have sunset if possible. Go back to campsite and cook the dinner. Day 2: Cook breakfast and prepare lunch. Do the Mt Abrupt hike. Drive back to Melbourne. 【Cost】 $26 including camping fee, group management fee, and firewood. Autumn is a truly beautiful time of the year! Mount Macedon is one of the best destinations in Victoria for autumnal bliss! **Itinerary: Organ Pipes National Park - Macedon autumn leaves - Camel's Hump - Major Mitchell Lookout - Mount Macedon Memorial Cross - Sanatorium Lake - Hanging Rock lookout - Macedon autumn leaves encore** **Meeting point: Fed Square, 8:45 am**. Back there by **5:45 pm**. Meet by the steps (main entrance, opposite the Swanston Street tram stop). **\-\-\- \(3\) PAYMENT \-\-\-** **Total fee: $20 in total (no other costs). There are people in this world who want to genuinely give back without any expectations because they are truly fulfilled and grateful for what they have. I am one of those people. This is my community service. I am not doing this for money and I never have. Money cannot buy passion. The nature of majestic Australia helped me find peace and passion and I want to give back by sharing that inspiring nature with people new to this country. If they are also inspired by that nature, then that is my reward. There is no hidden agenda in doing this project. The reason I am being quite upfront is because in this day and age, there is always a catch when people do something like this. There is none with me and I am not selling or promoting anything. Passengers are insured as per the Australian law. For times we are outside the vehicle, we then become responsible for our own liability and safety, just like every other capable adult in society. **\-\-\- \(5\) BREAKS/MEALS \-\-\-** There will be many breaks for sightseeing/walks. I will stop at places where food/snacks will be sold but you are welcome to bring your own as well. There will be a lunch break at either a cafe or takeaway shop. **\-\-\- \(6\) WEATHER AND WHAT TO WEAR \-\-\-** I plan events when weather looks good but please also see itinerary for location details and check the forecast to dress accordingly. My advice is to always be prepared! Recommend to have something to cover you if rain suddenly appears or if winds suddenly get cool. Also recommend to carry sunscreen and a hat. Please also wear good, comfortable shoes that can provide protection from water (in case there are muddy areas). You can bring many things, as the vehicle will have a lot of storage space. My road trips do not have a lot of long walks. The focus is on sightseeing, relaxing and appreciating the beauty of nature. **\-\-\- \(7\) PHONE CHARGING \-\-\-** Please charge your phone before joining. In the past, people have taken lots of videos and photos and used up their batteries! You can bring your charging cable if you want. Please make booking for brunch by commenting in this event, the deadline is 16/4 , 5pm. Discover Maldon, a historically rich town that sprang up out of the Goldfields in the 1850s. This well preserved town has buildings, gold diggings, and historical areas to explore, plus the beautifully preserved railway station and the option of taking a steam train ride return Maldon to Castlemaine. We will begin with at 9.30 am with a look around the township, then an early brunch before heading over to the train station. Travel on the train is completely optional, those options not to go can go on an alternative walk, or choose to relax in town. Those opting to take a walk while the train ride is happening will need to do self guided walk in town as both hosts will be on train ride. A helpful resource for this is to access the Maldon Inc website, select the explore tab, then select Historic Walking Trails in Maldon, then scroll down to ' download booklet' which has historical information and maps for walks in Maldon. Alternatively you can access maps and guides at the Visitor Info Centre. SCHEDULE: Meeting Point 9.30am Meet up at Maldon Visitor Info Centre, 93 High Street Maldon. Walk around town along Main St. Meeting Point 2 10.30-11.30am Cafe Maldon, 52 Main Street, Maldon Can choose to have breakfast foods, ie porridge, eggs, bagels or lunch foods ie toasties, sandwiches, burgers as both will be served. Cafe has veg, vegan and gluten free options available . This brunch is optional . 11.30 -12.30pm Walk over to Maldon train station, Hornsby Street, as a group, check out station and steam train . 12.30 -2.45 pm Train travellers Train departs Maldon 12.45 pm, 45 minutes travel to Castlemaine, stay Castlemaine 30 minutes, return journey to Maldon. OR 12.30 - 2.30 Walker's Depart train station, do easy walk and return to train station OR 12.30-2.30 Free time Those that don't wish to do train trip or walk are free to explore town, grab something to eat etc. return to station by 2.45pm 3pm-4.30pm Meeting Point 3 : Maldon Train Station Walk around town, explore Historic buildings and Beehive Mine Reserve. 4.30-5pm Option to drive to Maldon Cemetary, 80 Maldon Shelburne Road.This cemetary is some 5 minutes from town. Take the Bridgewater-Maldon Road in the direction of Baringhap/Bridgewater.When you see Tarrengower Prison on the right, make a right turn into Maldon Shelburne road and pass by prison another 1 km . There are interesting pioneer burials and remnants of Chinese graves also, plus lots of bird life! The Goldfields train travels return Maldon - Castlemaine and is 2 hours duration. General train tickets are $52 adults, $47 concession and there is a first class option available. Due to the event working around the steam train timetable, please be aware that only the brunch will be organised as an event group meal, and eating options may be very limited after 3pm . It's definitely advisable if you are planning train travel or the small walk to either bring extra food/ drink to this event or purchase some take away or snack options to cover the afternoon prior to 12noon, there is also small supermarket in town. Just remember - brunch is optional and train ride is also entirely optional!
