Day DJ is a weekly series at Villa Vida Café. Every Friday, local DJs take over the space and play daytime sets in an open, low-pressure environment. The focus is on new talent, experimentation, and community. This is not a typical club setting. You can drop in to listen, work, meet people, or stay for the full set. The idea is simple: create a consistent platform where DJs can develop their sound and connect with others. DJs have always played a central role in queer culture. In spaces where queer people were excluded, DJs built environments where identity and expression could exist. Through music, they shaped rooms, created connection, and guided shared experiences. Many of the sounds that define nightlife today come from queer communities, especially Black and Latinx scenes. House, disco, and club culture were not neutral developments—they were created in specific social contexts. Day DJ continues this lineage by making space for new voices and keeping that culture active. Day DJ Dee Diva, a Vienna based artist of Caribbean and American descent, strives to bring a new vibe to nightlife with a mix of the latest hip hop and club music, that is, not-so-serious music to dance to, think funky, amapiano, baltimore, grime, afrobeats, hard drum, perreo, dancehall, baile and more. Weekly screenings from a large archive of many of the most significant, yet seldom seen and rarely accessible cinematic masterpieces in the history of film - from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles. Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and moderated by the curator. WARNNG: FilmStory is not just about watching movies! Rather, it's a socially responsible, intellectual engagement, involving an organic approach to group study of film language, philosophy, art, history, politics, and technology. In this sense, the film is always merely the current highlight in an explorative, ongoing group discussion. **FilmStory** is a members-only series that involves a closely knit community of cinephiles.
