Connection Labs Online (aka Crossroads & Connections)
### Each Crossroads & Connections workshop is a fast, friendly mash-up: short demos, paired practices and intentional reflection. We keep it light, embodied, and socialâso wisdom lands in your muscles and your circle, not only your mind. There isnât one technique that fixes everything, for everyone, in every situation.
### What is it?
We pair complementary domains to spark shared flow, fresh insight, and unforgettable âaha!â moments. You leave with lived skills, not just notes.
* **Dialogue** gets you out of solo spin: small-group formats expose blind spots and sharpen âshared reality,â so your next move matches *this* person and *this* moment.
* **Imaginal** practice is guided âas ifâ rehearsal you look *through*, not *at*: walking the beats before the scene means your body recognizes turns when stakes rise.
* **Mindfulness** steadies the camera: attention stops jerking around, drama gets de-amplified, and you can catch the instant youâre narrating motives and swap in one honest question.
* **Embodiment** makes it actionable through direct, non-verbal experience and how your inner experience matches your outer expression.
Facilitators: Varies
Fee: $30USD - Or a 10-pack for $200USD

Taylor Creek Peaceful Slow Walk & Chill
# Taylor Creek Slow Walk & Reset
Join us for a relaxed, no-pressure walk through Taylor Creek.
Weâll meet near **Cullen Bryant Park** and walk at an easy pace toward **Victoria Park**. (**Route**: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/vd4vmBeLiyk18k9i7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/vd4vmBeLiyk18k9i7))
The route follows the creek through a peaceful ravine, with stretches of trees, open green space, **gentle water sounds**, and the feeling of **being tucked away from the city for a while**.
Itâs the kind of walk where you can slow down, notice the light through the trees, listen to the creek, and let the conversation happen naturally.
***
## What to expect
The walk is about **4 km** and will take around **1 - 1.5 hours.**
Weâll keep the pace comfortable and take a short pause along the way to enjoy the surroundings.
Youâre welcome to chat, walk quietly, or move between the two. There are no pressure to socialize in any particular way.
Just showing up and being present is enough. **Being there is enough.**
***
## A few notes
1. Comfortable shoes are still a good idea, and you may want to bring water. Weâll keep the pace easy and relaxed.
2. The route is mostly paved, with a calm trail feel as it follows the creek through the ravine.
3. This walk is for anyone who wants to be around people in a simple, low-key setting. You donât need to be a fast walker, a big talker, or âgood at socializing.â
Creative Relating - A Salon : conflict & repair (full)
Do you ever find yourself looking for more from your relationships? Or finding that relating with others is challenging, and wish you could have help?
This event may be for you. Weâre having an afternoon of organized discussion about what it means to be human and to relate with others, followed by some connection exercises to practice skills and techniques.
The discussion salon will include opportunities to share feelings in groups of different sizes. Itâs a chance to feel heard and connected, and to practice openness and compassion and empathy.
The connection exercises, following the discussion, will provide an opportunity to learn and practice skills that are helpful for open relating. These exercises may include opportunities for gentle, non-sexual touch and may tenderly touch on challenging edges for some people, including the possibility of some clothing optional exercises towards the end. Participants are always at choice, including choosing to observe the exercise or leave this part of the program.
This month's theme is conflict & repair - this theme will inform some of the exercises and the discussion. But the overall format is similar from month to month. (Previous themes have included authenticity & vulnerability, and empathy & compassion)
After the salon there will be a small casual gathering with snacks and a chance to connect informally. The duration of the event is about 3 hours.
There is a suggested donation of $15 to cover the cost of snacks and materials. A donation jar will be available at the event.
Note that this event is being run twice, once on Saturday May 16, and again the next day, because the last two events we ran were full and we had to turn people away. The content of the event will be identical, but the participants will be different. The Sunday event is already full but there is a wait list, and there's a decent chance that spaces will open up before it happens. The Saturday event has space. Each day there will be up to 12 participants; some are coming from the open relating community via Facebook or other contacts, while others are new to the community and are coming via Meetup.
I will be asking registered participants and people wanting to be on the wait list for contact information other than Meetup, either a phone # for texting or a Facebook contact for messaging. This is because often things change at the last minute (e.g. spaces open up for the waitlist, people have questions about parking, etc., etc.) and I want to be able to contact you quickly, and experience has shown that most people don't check Meetup messages frequently enough to communicate quickly enough.
I will send information about address and logistics to registered participants a few days before the event.
In Good Company â Saturday Walk & Coffee (Rosedale â Brick Works)
A simple way to meet new people and spend a relaxed Saturday morning outdoors.
This is a new, small meetup series â first walks are now starting.
Weâll meet just outside the main entrance of Rosedale Subway Station at street level (Iâll be standing near the exit and easy to spot), and walk through Rosedale onto the ravine trails toward Evergreen Brick Works, finishing with coffee and conversation.
The format is simple â just a walk, fresh air, and easy conversation.
Most people come on their own, so youâll likely not be the only new face.
Itâs a smaller group by design, which makes it easier to talk and connect without it feeling overwhelming.
Conversations can stay light or go a bit deeper depending on what feels natural â thereâs no agenda or structure.
**Timing**
âą Meet: 11:00â11:15am at Rosedale Station
âą Walk: \~40 minutes at an easy pace
âą Coffee: around midday at Brick Works
Youâre welcome to join for the full walk or meet us at the cafĂ©.
If youâre running late, feel free to join us along the route or meet at the cafĂ©.
If itâs raining heavily, weâll skip the walk and meet directly at Brick Works instead - the Pop-up Cafe inside the Young Centre at Brick Works. In case it rains, I will update this invite on the morning of the event day.
Iâll be there to welcome everyone and keep things relaxed and easy.
Looking forward to meeting you.
Sunday Shut Up & Write!Âź in Sheppard-Yonge

**Coworking for writers in your area!**
Join us for some focused writing time. All writers and all experience levels are welcome and donât worry, no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area.
When you show up, say hello to everyone, grab a drink, and get your writing tools ready. Once youâre all settled, take some time to chat with your fellow writers. Once everyoneâs arrived, I will lead quick introductions and then set the timer for our quiet and focused writing session.
Afterward, weâll have time to chat and get to know each other. We often talk about our successes and challenges as writers. If you donât have time to stick around, no worries!
**A note about the format**
We donât host critiques or readings. These events are a safe space for writers of all skill levels and genres to work on their craft, so no one will read or critique your writing.

The âIâ of the Storm: Embracing Conflict, Creating Peace Workshop
In the midst of lifeâs stormsâwhether in relationships, work, or within ourselvesâit can be difficult to find clarity and calm. The âIâ Of the Storm: Embracing Conflict, Creating Peace, based on the work of Dr. Gary Simmons, invites you to discover the steady center withinâthe part of you that remains grounded even when everything around you is in motion.
Led by Brian Drafton-Griffin, this engaging workshop offers practical tools and meaningful insights to help you navigate conflict with greater awareness, compassion, and confidence. Through guided discussion and reflection, youâll learn how to shift from reaction to response and transform challenges into opportunities for growth and connection.
COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above.
There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change.
The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM. Afterwards some of us go to the Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup in progress to have a bit to eat or drink (http://www.meetup.com/omnipresentatheists/).
Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since we will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes. The YMCA reserves the right to run background checks on volunteers.
For questions, comment on this page or contact: Andrew, awhit12@yahoo.com, (614)937-5802 (cell). Please let Andrew know if you volunteer anytime other than our COUNT events so that he can count your hours toward our service record.
