Embracing Fluidity: Life Beyond Labels
Embracing Fluidity: Life Beyond Labels
*"You are under no obligation to be the same person you were five minutes ago." — Alan Watts* **What is one phase, hobby, or label you used to fit into, but have happily outgrown?** During a busy daily routine, it is easy to feel swept up in the current. The world around us naturally uses labels to help organize everyday life, and it can be genuinely comforting to find our "group" or define exactly who we are. But human beings are wonderfully complex, contradictory, and constantly evolving. This Curious Souls Cafe gathering is an invitation to explore the beauty of fluidity. We are turning our focus inward to discover a quiet sense of spaciousness within ourselves. We will discuss the quiet art of wearing a label to function in our daily lives, without letting it define our core identity. Let's share how we navigate changing our minds, outgrowing old versions of ourselves, and allowing ourselves to be a gentle "work in progress." Bring your thoughts and an open mind. Let's discover the joy of living without boxes, together. **Inviting all who are...** 🌊 Reflecting on how everyday life naturally uses categories, and seeking a quiet space to just "be" 🧠 Eager to cultivate a cozy internal space for evolving, growing, and changing their minds ⚖️ Navigating how to stay engaged in our communities while holding our personal identities lightly 📵 Interested in stepping back from digital echo chambers to savor authentic, unstructured human connection 🤝 Believing that we grow best in community, sharing insights and inspiration 📅 Agenda / What You'll Experience 💬 Prompted Conversations We will use virtual question cards designed to help people playfully explore their personal habits and internal operating systems. Here are some sample questions: * Have you ever naturally outgrown a phase, hobby, or label that used to feel like a perfect fit, and what did that shift feel like? * What is an everyday interest, taste, or opinion you used to have that has gently shifted over time? * How can we use labels as helpful tools to navigate our daily routines, without secretly letting them trap or define us? * If you didn't have to define your identity to anyone, what beautifully messy, contradictory mix of hobbies or traits would you embrace? From there, we’ll embark on a respectful, engaging, and meaningful conversation, celebrating the diversity of perspectives and ideas within the group. Note: This session may involve virtual question cards accessed via a link or QR code. If you do not have a device (phone/tablet) to access these, please ask a facilitator for assistance; we have spare units available. The exact format of the event may change depending on turnout according to [https://curioussouls.cafe/#how-to](https://curioussouls.cafe/#how-to) and other factors. 💬 Final Thoughts and Feedback Where time allows, in the final 10 minutes of the event, we’ll take a moment to reflect on the key insights, memorable moments, and takeaways from our discussions. This is a chance to distill the shared wisdom and leave with a deeper understanding of the topics we’ve explored together. After the event officially concludes, the group may choose to extend the session, depending on the group’s interest. Of course, you’re welcome to leave at any time that feels right for you. An anonymized summary will be shared for sessions where key insights are identified. After the meeting, our facilitators and participants may reflect on the discussion and contribute to a summary or collaborative workbook based on their notes and observations. Additionally, questions may be revisited in future sessions in an anonymized manner. To explore what our events are like, check out our official website at [https://curioussouls.cafe](https://curioussouls.cafe) 📍 Location City: Hong Kong Address: Empire Centre, 68 Mody Road, Tsim Sha Tsui East Inside the shopping mall of Empire Centre, there is a large open area dedicated to a café. If you take the MTR, the nearest station and exit will be East Tsim Sha Tsui Station (Exit P1). From there, you can walk to Empire Centre, which is just a few minutes away. Bhutanese Movie Night in Peng Chau
Bhutanese Movie Night in Peng Chau
Hi there everybody! We invite you all to come enjoy Peng Chau island to our next movie night on 26th of April. This time we will watch our first Bhutan movie. We have chosen the movie called 'Hema Hema: Sing Me a Song While I Wait' (2016) from director Khyentse Norbu: he chronicles a sacred jungle ritual whose masked, anonymous participants seek after complete self-knowledge. The movie will have English subtitles. If you want to watch a Bhutan movie for the first time come and enjoy! We will start the movie at 7pm till 9pm in a terrace in Peng Chau. There is a ferry at 5:50pm from Central Pier N6 and arrives in Peng Chau at 6:30pm. I can meet people at the pier at 6:30pm. Or if you want to spend the day in Peng Chau and meet each other afterwards that's also fine! Please let me know if you are coming beforehand so we can prepare for us to meet and take you to the address. We want to encourage discussion about the movie and its theme afterwards. We will prepare some questions so we can debate about it together! You can bring your own food too. Also if you have more ideas on how to make our experience more fun, feel free to share it! If you have any question you can message me :) Hope to see you soon! MOVIE TRAILER>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqM2Q87nQYY

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for May is "Ink" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
