Whether you’re eager to share your latest work or simply soak up the atmosphere of artistic expression, Gypsy Lounge is your space. Artist sign-ups will take place on the evening of the event. Just come by at around 17:45, on the evening of the open mic. **The first 8 artists will get to sign up.** Each artist will have up to 7 minutes to perform or share their work (or up to 2 songs). This meetup is for anyone—anyone at all—who enjoys playing around with words. You’ll be given a prompt (usually one word, such as “playground” or “shiver”) and time to express yourself in writing in response to it. Anything goes: prose, poetry, lists, letters, lyrics; any form which calls to you and demands expression. After we have finished writing, you will be invited to share your piece with the group (totally optional, but the feedback can be fun). The feedback (this is the only part with rules): Responses should be in the form of what stayed with you, what you remembered from the piece, what resonated with you. This is NOT a writing or craft class; there is no good or bad here. Critiques or suggestions miss the point. This is new, tender writing, and we honor it as such. All writing is considered fictional. This is liberating for the writer, as you are free to write about literally anything and it will never be considered to be “about you.” The first person is always just a character. Please bring your own writing equipment. It is helpful to come on time so you can hear the prompt and have enough time to write. Please buy a drink or snack from Charcha, our generous host.

Join us every other Sunday for the Open Clown Workshop at The Comedy Clubhouse Barcelona. Whether you’re an experienced clown wanting to exercise your clowning muscles or a complete beginner full of curiosity this workshop is for you. Sessions will usually focus on one particular aspect of clown for example: bafflement, befriending uncertainty, staying curious, freedom in failure, connecting with your pleasure, finding the game, eye contact with the audience. Our usual workshop teachers are experienced clowns who perform regularly in Barcelona and around the world. They have either trained with the legendary clown master Philipe Gaulier; performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; organised their own cabaret shows; or have experience of developing clown numbers elsewhere. While every teacher has different strengths and exercises they’ll share, each workshop is designed to inspire you and help develop your skills as a comedic performer. This is a great place to meet new people, play games, have fun & learn new skills! The session lasts from 15.00 until 17:30 and it operates as a Pay What You Want workshop (suggested donation between 5 and 15 euros). It takes place at the Comedy Clubhouse on Via Laietana (be careful because there are two Comedy Clubhouses! It does not take place at the one on Carrer Canvis Nous!)

This can be done in game form, like *Whose Line Is It Anyway*, *ComedySportz*, or *Wild 'n Out*; it could also be done to tell stories, like *Middleditch and Schwartz*. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and free!) weekly comedy event, brings the games (and occasionally different forms) for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. The topic for June is "Roadtrip" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience.
