Duende Sessions - Experimental poetry with music festival
**(EN)**
**Duende Sessions**, Barcelona’s festival dedicated to experimental poetry, live sound, and hybrid performance, returns in 2026 with a full day program that merges cinema, spoken word, music, and visual art into a single immersive experience.
According to the official program, the festival opens with a curated selection of videopoetry films, presented as “a selection of the best video poetry films around the world” . This cinematic introduction transforms the venue’s auditorium into a global window on contemporary poetic experimentation.
The screenings are followed by the documentary **“The Window on Death Row”**, which tells the story of Joaquín José Martínez, “the first Spaniard exonerated from U.S. death row” . Directed by Linda Freund, the film invites audiences to reflect on justice, forgiveness, and the fragility of human life.
**LIVE PROGRAM — POETRY, MUSIC & VISUALS**
The live performances begin with **Anastazi Mouskai (GR)**, whose hypnotic, theatrical presence opens the festival with emotional intensity and embodied poetics.
She is followed by **Philip Meersman (BE)**, presenting experimental poetry that expands the boundaries of spoken word through multilingual, socio political, and XR driven approaches.
Next, **April15 (EN)** brings a tender fusion of spoken word, instrumental music, and song, a duo weaving intimate narratives through voice and melody.
The program continues with the transdisciplinary trio **Elina Cerla (EN)**, **Verena Grundhammer (AT)**, and **Dagui (FR)**, who present a short but potent piece combining poetry, curated visuals, and live sound, creating a synesthetic micro universe.
The first performance block closes with **Maria Baka & Stratos Sterianos (GR)**, whose work merges spoken word, movement, image, and electronic sound into a continuous act of becoming a dialogue between body, voice, and frequency.
After a brief intermission, the evening resumes with **Alex Loro (ES)**, a key figure in Barcelona’s underground spoken word scene, followed by **Elizabeth Gex (EN/ES)**, whose viola driven practice bridges classical, flamenco, jazz, and improvisation.
The program then moves into the darker, more electric side of the festival with **Daréka (FR)**, known for his internationally touring blend of spoken word and electronic experimentation, and **Palina (FR)**, whose work explores exile, love, and political displacement with emotional depth.
Berlin based **Mad Kate (DE)** follows with an experimental poetry act rooted in body politics, radical imagination, and electronic performance.
After a second intermission, **Gisela Arimany (CAT)** takes the stage with an experimental poetry performance enriched by sound driven visuals.
The spoken word part of the festival closes with **Makis & Yzaura — HYPNOTIK TRANSPHORMATION**, a 40 minute immersive duet of spoken word, live sound, and visual composition described in their program notes as “a poetic journey, exploring the struggle against loneliness and the pressure of a world that constantly demands more” .
The festival closes with the concert of **BLODYN**, an emerging artist born in Soriano and now based in Barcelona. With a voice that is not only heard but felt, BLODYN closes the festival with an intimate, powerful performance that marks the rise of a creator in full bloom.

Let's Play Improv Games in the Park! :)
Join us for a great afternoon full of fun games involving acting, improvisation, and theater! No experience or acting skills required. All you need is imagination! Anyone who is interested in trying something new is welcome. It's also a great way to meet people, or to practice your English.
After the event we often also go for drinks and/or dinner together.
**What do we do in this event?**
We will play all sorts of games that involve acting and improvisation. Many of them you might know from the TV show "Whose Line is it Anyway?". The games we play are different every time, but here are some typical examples:
If you don't like some of the games, then don't worry, you can participate in as many games as you want and you can skip any games you don't like.
**How much does it cost?**
We're charging 2 euros per person.
This is just to help recover some of the expenses of the meetup account. We're hosting this event only for fun and we do not make any profit out of it.
You can pay in cash or by Bizum when you arrive at the event.
**In what language will this event be?**
All games will be played in English. Of course, we do not expect you to speak perfect English, but without a basic level of English it will be hard to participate (if you're not sure about your level of English, just come along and try).
**Can I come to just watch?**
Sure! If you don't want to participate, or if you're not sure yet, then you're welcome to just come along and watch.
**What do I need to bring or wear?**
You don't need to bring or wear anything special. However, it is advisable to wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move easily.
**Do I need to prepare anything?**
Nope! The whole point of improvisation is that you can't prepare anything :)
**If I want to join, do I need to sign up?**
Yes, please! Even if there are more than enough places, it is very important that you still sign up for this event.
This is for two reasons:
1\. If not enough people sign up then we may have to cancel the event\.
2\. The more people sign up\, the more attractive this event becomes for other people to also sign up\.
Anyway, if you forget to sign up you're still more than welcome to join :)
**Where do we meet?**
Due to the rain, today's event will be held at the Mercat Sant Antoni, where we can play under a roof. Please see the comments section of this event for more details.
**Can I suggest some games to play?**
Sure! If you know any fun games that are related to improv theater and that you would like to play, just let the organizers know before the start of the event. We're always happy to receive input from the participants.
**Do you have a Whatsapp group to stay in contact after the event?**
Yes, we do! If you want to join our group, please ask the organizers to add you, before or after the event.

Whether you've never done improv before, or you've done it for so long you knew Del Close on a personal level, or anywhere in between, come join us! Swing by *Gresso's* for the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup** for some fun and games!
The idea behind improv is to create entire scenes from scratch based on a suggestion from the audience. This can be done in game form, like *Whose Line Is It Anyway*, *ComedySportz*, or *Wild 'n Out*; it could also be done to tell stories, like *Middleditch and Schwartz*. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and free!) weekly comedy event, brings the games (and occasionally different forms) for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Not only is it a lot of fun, but you get to work on thinking faster on your feet, plus it's an excellent way to meet new people and make friendships that'll last a lifetime!

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for May is "Ink"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!

• What we'll do
Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros.
10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you!
