Open Dharma Budapest - Free Meditation in a Teahouse
Open Dharma Budapest - Free Meditation in a Teahouse
Open Dharma Budapest is a friendly meditation sangha for anyone interested in meditation. Every Sunday we gather for 1–1.5 hours at a local tea house to sit together, share, and support each other on the path. What to expect: Each session begins with a 20-minute silent sit, followed by an open, voluntary sharing of our experiences — a space to process what arises in practice, together. Attention: This is not a guided meditation class. We explore a range of techniques rooted in Theravāda Buddhism, with a modern and pragmatic approach - open to both seasoned practitioners and complete beginners. Your host: Sessions are hosted by Maria East, a long-term practitioner of Theravāda, Vajrayāna, and Dzogchen, with over 10 silent retreats over the last 5 years. Maria is also a clinical psychologist in training, who is happy to offer additional support if practice brings up anything challenging. You're welcome to enjoy a cup of tea before the session ([Menu](https://okuma.space/menu/)). Please [book here ](https://okuma.resos.com)and come earlier if you wish so (for tea). [PLEASE RSVP HERE ](https://okuma.space/event/open-dharma-budapest-free-meditation-2/)to receive further instructions on how to get in for the Meditation.
Beginner/Intermediate Guitar Class
Beginner/Intermediate Guitar Class
Looking forward to see you again this Sunday! Tea and sweets are served right after the class to socialize and chat about random things. And of course I'm ready to answer your questions. **General description of the class:** Our class is open both for complete beginners, as well as intermediate players who want to level up their skills. We will have enough time to cover the basics (for newcomers), discuss what we would like to improve and get playing! I also speak Hungarian, so if there is anyone who doesn’t understand English, I will translate on the go. Any newcomers are welcome and I will help you to get started and develop together with others. **What to bring:** * A pen and notebook, so you can take notes as needed. * Guitar (if you don't have one, you can use mine during the class, but definitely you should get a guitar later if you want to learn guitar properly). This event is totally **free of charge**, **but I appreciate donations, which helps me, the organizer, to cover the bills. Recommended donation: 2,500 HUF.** Feel free to **bring your friends**. We have enough space! **I recommend joining our Telegram channel** to get notified about announcements or any cancellations: https://t.me/budapestGuitarClub
Danube Canoe Trip
Danube Canoe Trip
We will meet, arrive at the location, and collect the equipment. Then we’ll have a safety briefing and basic paddling instruction. After that, we’ll launch the boats and practice a little in the bay. Children must wear life jackets. Adults who can swim may choose not to wear them, but must still keep them in the canoe. We will paddle downstream, go around the cape, and enter the so-called dead branch — where there is almost no current. We’ll see swans, ducks, herons, and other birds. In sunny weather, we may spot turtles. There is also a chance to encounter an otter or even a roe deer on the shore. On the way back, we’ll pass through a narrow channel in the reeds and then under the hanging branches of fairytale-like trees. And for sure, we will definitely meet the crocodile! The total route is 9 km — an ideal distance for beginners. We’ll have lunch in a meadow, and the children will be able to play and swim in the bay. Early booking — until June 11: 16,000 HUF/person Until June 12, 14:00: 18,000 HUF Standard price: 20,000 HUF Children up to and including 9 years old receive a 2,000 HUF discount. Canoe, paddles, and life jacket rental are included. Everyone is welcome. Children from 7 years old may join with their parents. Most children from our hiking group may join without parents as well (to be discussed personally). Meeting Points 1) 08:50 — Közvágóhíd suburban railway stop: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/vCEH2YYASiQ3DdZQ7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/AKdtB9FHKmtrzWBR7) 2) 09:50 — here: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/9hJuBvdRMhutdBrT6](https://maps.app.goo.gl/jBiz2ke38KiFSPC96) We expect to finish around 14:00 and return to the station by 14:55. Timing may change. Public transport is free for children under 14 and for holders of a Pest County pass. Otherwise, tickets for the suburban section are required — we can discuss this personally. ###### What to Bring * lunch; * water; * swimwear and towels for children; * caps or sun hats. Optional: * slippers/water shoes for the canoe (though barefoot is also fine); * sunscreen; * inflatable arm bands for children if desired, though life jackets will still be required in the canoe. Smart Search + AI: An Outcome-Driven Journey from IDP to a Suite of AI
Over a billion documents processed. Millions of Veterans impacted. Hundreds of thousands of employee hours saved. Faster decisions. Greater accuracy. More benefits in the hands of our disabled Veterans. We created Smart Search, the world’s largest consumer of Amazon Textract, right when GenAI began reshaping what’s possible. Since then, we’ve built a suite of AI‑driven solutions that transform this data into real, measurable outcomes—accelerating benefits decisions for our Nation’s Veterans. Join us for a focused conversation on how an outcome‑driven approach to AI is helping us boost accuracy, streamline workflows, and deliver faster results for those who have served. This is a follow up to the AWS re:Invent 2023 "Intelligent Document Processing with Gen AI for Public Sector" presentation. Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code - Alan Barber
Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code - Alan Barber
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** *Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code* Visual Studio Code is one of the most widely used development environments today, and much of its flexibility comes from its extension ecosystem. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs. In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling. The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options. **YouTube Link** TBD

Columbus Arduino Raspberry Pi Enthusiasts (CARPE) (Check Location)
Bring your Raspberry Pi, Arduino, microcontroller, or any other electronic project and join fellow electronics makers for a night of creativity and collaboration! This session is open forum to share your current projects—whether complete or in progress, it’s all interesting! Whether you’re deep into embedded systems, exploring new ideas, or just getting started, you’ll find a welcoming space to collaborate, share, and get inspired. **New to electronics or curious about tinkering?** You’re absolutely welcome. If you’re a beginner and want to experiment, I’ll have a couple of starter kits available so you can try things out—whether that’s blinking your first LED, putting something on a display, or experimenting with simple sensors. No pressure and no experience required—just an interest in learning and building. While we continue to pursue a more permanent venue for this Meetup, we’ll be using public library facilities based on availability. This session will be at the Worthington Park Library in the Olentangy Meeting Room.

Beyond Mythos: A New Operating Model for Code Security
Please see below for this event's description. **Visit our [Eventbrite page](https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/owasp-toronto-june-2026-tickets-1991326120030?aff=oddtdtcreator) to RSVP!** **Hybrid event:** * In-person: Security Compass, 325 Front Street West, Unit 103, Toronto, ON M5V 2Y1 * Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5aZ_CwYEus Doors open at 6:00 PM. Presentation/livestream starts at 6:30 PM **Description:** AI split AppSec into two attack surfaces: your code, and the code factory that produces it—coding agents, the models and MCP tools they call, the developer environment itself. With exploits now landing in under ten hours and vulnerabilities shipping from more authors than ever, this talk lays out a staged path to a "Mythos-ready" program—reprioritizing around reachable risk, accelerating remediation, and securing the AI-SDLC—and argues security should stop filing tickets and start shipping fixes.
