Hike Turkey Run Park (Easy/Moderate) â Pho Lunch
Hike Turkey Run Park- Pho Lunch, VA Sunday March 8
With winter weather receding, this is a great way to fight cabin fever and head back outside with views of the Potomac. This is a 3 to 4 mile loop hike along the Potomac River just below the American Legion bridge off the GW parkway. The trail is mostly easy and flat, but there are some slightly rocky areas. Be aware that this time of year where segments along the river can be muddy and there are some rocky areas we must maneuver around.
Bring a mascot! The park is dog-friendly, but must be on a leash.

Profs & Pints Northern Virginia: A Practical Guide to Social Change
[Profs and Pints Northern Virginia](https://www.profsandpints.com/washingtondc) presents: **âA Practical Guide to Social Change,â** a research-based look at how communities bring about reform and progress, with Marissa Robinson, founder of Real Health Impact LLC and an adjunct professor at George Washington University who teaches courses focused on public health leadership and social change.
[Advance tickets: $13.50 plus sales tax and processing fees. Available at [https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-social-change](https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-social-change) .]
Systems built on inequality rarely transform without deliberate pressure from the people most committed to justice, because progress takes coordination, conviction and willingness to change what has always been accepted. Real change starts when people choose to move together.
Learn what research and experience say about how to make real social progress with Dr. Marissa Robinson, a public health practitioner who previously worked in federal agencies coordinating global and national public health initiatives focused on infectious diseases, HIV, and health equity.
Among the key questions sheâll tackle: How do communities overcome barriers to create real change? When should evidence guide decisions and when does context matter more?
Sheâll discuss established frameworks for moving from intention to measurable progress and talk about the importance of building coalitions that actually work and of making decisions grounded in real data. Youâll learn about the importance of testing ideas on a small scale before going big, as well as how to use rapid feedback loops and continuous improvement cycles to refine approaches and scale what truly works.
Dr. Robinson will share stories of ordinary people and communities who refused to accept the status quo and pushed through real barriers to achieve breakthrough results. Sheâll talk about practical strategies, usable frameworks, and evidence-based examples that people can apply immediately in their own communities and organizations to support change that lasts.
If you have dreamed about bringing about progress in your world, this talk will give you the clarity, direction, and confidence it takes to turn such dreams into reality. ( Door: $17, or $15 with a student ID. Listed time is for doors. The talk starts 30 minutes later.)

Creating from the Dark Side
Curious about spirituality beyond traditional religious boxes? Youâre warmly invited to explore **Unity**, a spiritual movement that blends practical Christianity with metaphysical wisdom, personal growth, and inclusive theology.
Unity is grounded in the idea that each person has an innate spiritual nature, that love is the essence of all faith traditions, and that our thoughts, intentions, and practices shape our lived experience. Rather than focusing on doctrine or dogma, Unity emphasizes spiritual principles you can *apply*âright where you are, exactly as you are.
On this fourth Sunday of the Lenten season, guest speaker and congregant **Duane Bowers** invites us into a reflective and empowering journey. In each moment of our lives, we are constantly creating the next moment. How different would our lives be if we were more intentional about what we were creating ---particularly when life is tough and we're in darkness?
Whether youâre spiritually curious, deconstructing old beliefs, or simply seeking a meaningful way to engage the season, this gathering offers a thoughtful, compassionate entry point into an untraditional faith tradition that honors both inner wisdom and shared humanity.
All are welcomeâno prior experience with Unity required.

We Were Made for These Times (hybrid)
We all go through times when it feels like the ground is being pulled out from under us. What we relied on as steady and solid may change or even appear to vanish. In this era of global disruption, threats to our individual, social, and planetary safety abound, and at times life can feel overwhelming. Not only are loss and separation painful, but even positive changes can cause great stress.
Yet life is full of change: birth, death, marriage, divorce; a new relationship; losing or starting a job; beginning a new phase in life or ending one. Change is stressful, even when it is much desired or anticipatedâthe unknown can feel scary and threatening. In We Were Made for These Times, the extraordinary mindfulness teacher Kaira Jewel Lingo imparts accessible advice on navigating difficult times of transition, drawing on Buddhist teachings on impermanence to help you establish equanimity and resilience.

Healing Racism
Today's Meaningful Conversation explores the role of spirituality in eradicating and healing from the spiritual disease of racism. We will begin our exploration of this topic with a selection of passages from the BahĂĄâĂ Writings, which will help us consider the following questions:
* How does a spiritual outlook on racism help us better understand and address this vital issue?
* What changes in mind and heart will offer an effective antidote to racism?
* How can each of us contribute to true and lasting healing and transformation?
*âIf in this day a soul shall act according to the precepts and the counsels of God, he will serve as a divine physician to mankindâŚâ*
ASL Sunday Silent Social at Fairfax's Wegmans
Whether you're Deaf, HoH, an interpreter, an ASL student, or just want to learn or practice American Sign Language (ASL), we welcome all levels of signers to come join us for an evening of ASL socializing and practice.
This event occurs on the first and third Sundays of every month, in the heart of Fairfax County at the Fairfax Wegman's (corner of Route 29 and Monument Drive). We can be found on the upper level, typically near the stairs. We generally start around 7 pm.
ASL beginners are welcome, but you should know the ASL alphabet and some basic signs - this is not an ASL class, but the more experienced signers are generally happy to help beginners learn and improve. There is no better way to develop your signing skills than by joining the conversation with other signers. There is a place for everyone to join, learn and practice. Regardless, we are always welcoming so donât be discouraged to attend; this is very informal and new folks are always welcome.
Note, some attendees arrive early and grab some of Wegmanâs food for dinner, so you can combine a shopping trip with the ASL practice.

Moving Beyond Us Versus Them with Sister Jenna
## **Moving Beyond Us Versus Them with Sister Jenna**
**Join renowned speaker, Sister Jenna, at our new Brahma Kumaris location in Chantilly, VA for this powerful event!**
## ***Beyond sides. Beyond stories. Into connection.***
In a world increasingly shaped by polarization, uncertainty, and âUs versus Themâ thinking, many people are feeling weary, guarded, or disconnected, sometimes without realizing how deeply it has affected them. *Moving Beyond Us Versus Them* offers a timely and healing invitation to step out of division and into understanding.
In this reflective session, Sister Jenna guides us to examine how labels, opinions, and unconscious biases quietly shape our perceptions and reactions. Rather than engaging in debate or blame, this session creates space to rise above conditioned thinking and reconnect with our shared humanity, where compassion, dignity, and mutual respect naturally emerge.
This session is not about choosing sides, itâs about choosing consciousness, connection, and the courage to see one another anew.
