LARPing AGM
We'll be getting together at the Orpington OLC to discuss all things LARP at our Annual General Meeting. Feel free to come along and have your say, or just listen in for a peek under the hood of what goes into the hobby.
We'll have the room from midday but I'm not expecting the meeting to start until 1pm to give everyone time to get there and have lunch - there are plenty of food options available a short walk down the High Street. We've got the room till around 5:30, and while I don't expect the meeting to take that long, it's always a good opportunity to socialise (and after that time we'll be able to move out to the main bar area and continue as long as we like). The club is very well known for its CAMRA-award winning beers and ales, as well as a great selection of ciders.
The address is 7 Station Road Orpington Kent BR6 0RZ, and there's a small amount of parking for anyone who wants to drive. For those coming by train, get off at Orpington Station and walk down the hill, the OLC is directly opposite the Tesco's at the bottom.
Just to note, the OLC is a private member's club, so there will be a sign-in process and a £1 charge for anyone who is not a member (the club takes card only, no cash).
Backgammon Fun & Social at Gest, by Euston Square Exit. 20pc off Food n Drink
Date/Time: Sunday 8 February 2026, 3 – 8pm (and likely later!)
20% off food and drink for our group
First-timers: please see notes below on the Meetup fee, bringing boards, etc. ☺️
Dear Backgammon Lovers,
We had a great turnout again on Sunday, and a big thank you to Lydia for covering the first few hours - much appreciated!
Eight of our backgammoners headed to Steve’s jazz event on Monday and had a blast. Wouldn’t it be fabulous to combine backgammon and jazz someday? Well, maybe!
We’re delighted again to announce our next social backgammon gathering at Gest Restaurant in Euston. For as long as they'll have us, we'll continue to use the CSC on other dates when available.
Gest has become a favourite spot for our lively and friendly backgammon gatherings, offering more space and a relaxed atmosphere, with very wsrm and welcoming staff.
Social Backgammon
Whether you’re a seasoned player or completely new, everyone’s welcome. Our Sunday afternoon offers a mix of friendly competition, laughter and the occasional lucky double six. Add food, drinks and easy conversation, and you’ve got the makings of a relaxed afternoon rolling dice into a fun evening.
20% off food and drink
Following intense negotiations, Gest has kindly offered our group 20% off food and drink for this event. Please support the venue by ordering at least a drink and a bite to eat during the session, as this will help us to maintain such a generous deal in a comfortable atmosphere.
About Our Backgammon Group
Our group started in June 2015 and has now run more than 400 official meetups plus over 200 informal gatherings. We are a few short of 2,000 members, we’re the largest backgammon group in the UK, and we're known for our warmth, humour and friendliness. We typically meet fortnightly on Sundays, with around twenty or so regulars along with new players each time.
Everyone is welcome, whatever your level.
Dinner, drinks and playing time
We usually sit down for a relaxed group meal around 6pm, but you’re free to order whenever it suits you. Many people arrive early, stay late, and dip in and out of games between food and drinks.
RSVP
Please RSVP as soon as you can, as it really helps with planning, especially at this popular venue.
Bring your own board
If you have a backgammon board, please bring it. If you don’t, just post a note on the Meetup page or message me and we’ll match you up. It’s always fun to see the variety of boards people bring along.
Meetup fee
£4 per person. This small contribution helps pay Meetup, cover tip, admin, hosting and other organisational costs that keep the group running smoothly.
Etiquette
Let’s keep things friendly and respectful over the board, and please thank the lovely Gest staff for hosting us. If anything crops up during the event, just have a quiet word with me.
Backgammon rules
We play under international backgammon tournament rules, with one or two minor exceptions. Full details are on our Meetup page.
Contact
If you need help finding the venue or have any questions, call or text me on 07956 263451.
Please avoid sending Meetup messages within two hours of start time, as they may not be seen in time.
Looking forward to rolling dice and sharing another brilliant Sunday with you all – and to celebrating the New Year at Gest for the fifth time.
Best wishes,
Chris Sattaur 🤗

Free Terrible Football @ Regents Park Sunday at 10:30am
Hey Terrible Footballers!
We play in Regent Park. See the map above or follow the below whatsapp link. Leave a message and someone will respond on Saturday night. Sometimes we have openings as late as that and this is when final list is finalised. So feel free to add your name to the waitlist.
Everyone is welcome! That means every skill level, gender, sexuality etc. Just gotta be over 18!
No one gets upset if we miss a pass.... or the ball altogether! Skills vary from old semi-pro players all the way to never kicked a ball. We weren’t fibbing when we said inclusive.
Please bring a BLACK and WHITE tshirt. Please aim to arrive at 10:15 (ideally 10:15am to help out in the setting up) as we want to kickoff at 10:30.
(If you arrive late after kick off, you may have to wait around half hour for the next half).
Please sign up early (during the week if possible), check the meetup page for the week and our Whatsapp group for any last minute changes.
Follow this link to join us on whatsapp:
https://chat.whatsapp.com/HLps3JK0kSmHR2vuJj1VDu
The game will normally go ahead come rain or shine if we have the numbers.
Some important information:
• Age 18+
• Terrible Football meet-ups are extremely popular but unfortunately we have limited spaces. If you end up on the waiting list, please wait and see if a spot becomes available. We will have to check who has RSVP-ed if too many show up and will have to turn people away if they’re not on the list.
• Please show up on time! If you have RSVP-ed but don’t show up on time, we will have to give your spot to someone else! If you show up after we have started playing, and no one else has taken your spot, you might still be asked to sit the first half out in order to prevent confusion. There is nothing worse for organisers than people showing up late!
• As mentioned above, we don’t charge, however, if you are a regular, we do ask you to donate some money once or twice a year for the upkeep and new equipment.
For any questions, please contact one of the organisers.
See you there! TFC Team

Intermediate Mixed Volleyball Games 🏐
Come get some quality court time with structured play and plenty of reps! We’ll have a minimum of 6 balls we ready, so no waiting around for touches—you’ll get plenty of swings, passes, and sets.
We kick things off with about 30 minutes of warm-up drills (hitting lines, passing, serving, and maybe a few fun variations) to get everyone moving and dialed in. After that, we’ll jump into full games—fast, competitive, but always friendly.
This session is intermediate level: you should be comfortable with the basics (serving, passing, hitting, and rotations). Expect good rallies, steady tempo, and a chance to sharpen your skills while still keeping it social.
Come ready to play, improve, and have fun with a great group of teammates!

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for February is "Transitions"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
Fun & easy way to play more tennis (read event description)
We’re still working to get more people into these Meetups, but our goal is to give PlayYourCourt members a few social tennis outings each week in addition to your practice sessions and Challenge League matches.
These Meetups are co-ed, super laid back, and all skill levels are welcome. Post your skill level and a suggested court in the comments section so we can round up as many players as we can for some tennis fun!
Also, if you’re looking to meet new practice partners or play some matches and you aren’t already in the PlayYourCourt Community, you can go here to see what we’re all about and sign up:
https://www.playyourcourt.com/tennis-community/columbus-oh/meetup/
If you love tennis, we’d love to have you! Be sure and watch the quick video that explains how everything works.
Happy hitting!
