Emergent Misalignment from Reward Hacking
***This is a paid event ($5 general admission, free for students & job seekers) with limited tickets - you must [RSVP on Luma](https://luma.com/zd29ibx6) to secure your spot.*** Recent research from Anthropic and Redwood Research has shown that "reward hacking" is more than just a nuisance: it can be a seed for broader misalignment. Evgenii Opryshko explores how models that learn to exploit vulnerabilities in coding environments can generalize to concerning capabilities, such as unprompted alignment faking and cooperating with malicious actors. **Event Schedule** 6:00 to 6:30 - Food and introductions 6:30 to 7:30 - Presentation and Q&A 7:30 to 9:00 - Open Discussions If you can't make it in person, feel free to join the live stream starting at 6:30 pm, via [this link](https://www.youtube.com/@Trajectory-Labs/live).

Let's Boost our 2026 By Our Expanding Psychic Abilities at 2 pm and 10 pm online
**Harness the Magic, the Practicality of your Sixth Sense for 2026** We are all psychic; it’s not a gift for just “special people”. We use our extrasensory perceptions daily, such as from having inner knowings about people to receiving a feeling to make a certain purchase or business decision at a certain time. Join this free meet up to see how your intuition works for you and how to expand it. Also, covered in this event: • increasing inner harmony • learning about the reality of spirit guides or master souls that back us, and how to communicate with them • seeing how stress and pressure undermine our intuitive nature, and how to minimize these pressures in life **Drawing upon Experiences and Life Lessons** This meet up will include attendees from meet ups in other locations. (We've teamed up with others!) The facilitators of the meet ups have years of experience leading talks, workshops and courses on these topics, and have shared about them in regular media interviews in Canada, the US and Europe. They have used this ability to better their own lives, and enjoy passing along this knowledge to others. This meet up is being held at these times: Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026 at 2 pm, then at 10 pm and then Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 8 pm. Here are the links to register for the events. Once registered you will be emailed a link to attend. We do not record these events for play back later; they are best experienced in the moment. After a long absence, we are so looking forward to this doing this meet up! #Metaphysics #Spirituality #Spiritual Growth ##

Improv Class for New Friends
Improv Class for New Friends
Don't be disappointed if you don't see a bunch of people attending. I advertise this on multiple platforms and the class usually sells out. \*\*If you don't use Paypal, email me at ralph@socap.ca and we'll figure it out. You can pay be etransfer or with a credit card/cash at the venue.\*\* Improv comedy uses several techniques to create laughter. These include, creating an atmosphere free of judgement, saying 'yes', active listening, being positive, putting your focus on others, and the importance of play and laughter. Not coincidentally, these are the same things that happen to us naturally when we are bonding with another person. In this class, we'll explore these techniques not with the goal of being funny, but with the goal of being people that other people want to be around. The teacher, Ralph MacLeod, is a co-founder of two independent improv clubs in Toronto - Bad Dog Theatre and Social Capital Theatre. He's been teaching improv for over 30 years. He also teaches these same techniques to several organizations including UofT, Google, Kraft, Shopify and many, many more. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have! FAQs and Good To Know.... After every event, a group from this class sit down and have a drink together so be prepared to stay if you want! Of course, you don't HAVE to. You also don't have to be single or bring a friend. The vibe of this class is much more 'making new friends' than a 'singles' mixer'. We usually run to 8:15 so pay for extra parking!
Privacy Components That Should Actually Matter to Development Teams
Privacy Components That Should Actually Matter to Development Teams
**Format**: Hybrid (in-person and online) event **In-person location**: **Security Compass** 325 Front Street West, Unit 103 Toronto, ON M5V 2Y1 **Note:** In-person attendance is limited to **70 people**, in a **first-come, first-serve basis**. Doors will open at **6:00 PM**, with the event will start at **6:30 PM** (ET). For those who cannot attend in person, please join us virtually via the livestream! **Presentation Title:** **Privacy Components That Should Actually Matter to Development Teams** Many teams expect that privacy is taken care of by the company’s security program or addressed by the legal and compliance teams. Fact is, privacy is often lagging behind security when it comes to software development, and there are still obligations that need to make their way into the lifecycle. And, in many cases, devs never even see the obligations that exist on paper to clients! In each business function of Governance, Design, Implementation, Verification, and Operations, there are privacy considerations that need to be made. The earlier you can get these considerations locked in, the more time it saves you later when there’s an incident, a user exercising their rights, or simply scaling up! \-\-\- **This is a hybrid event!** You're welcome to join us online or in person. Thanks again to our wonderful sponsors at **Security Compass** for hosting us!

\*\*NEW LOCATION UPDATE\*\* HELLO Everyone, We are happy to announce that our 6 year running group will be moving our weekly event back to our old location which is now under the Fionn MacCools banner. Game night will be at Fionn MacCools at 125 York Blvd #135 in Richmond Hill. Start time is at 7 PM sharp, so please do you absolute best to show up at least a few minutes before then. If you feel you are running late, let us know in the group chat or contact one of the organizers directly. If you are new to the group, we are made up of a friendly group of Dad's who like to play large variety of Euro style games both new and old. We encourage everyone to please try and support venue partner with food and/or drink orders, if at all possible. While the organizers usually bring a number of titles, it's fairly common for attendees to bring a game or two of their own to these events. You may want to keep in mind factors like game duration and table space required, set up time and repacking time. If you do not have anything to bring, don't feel like you have to, we've got you covered. Because the player count is usually not known precisely until everyone shows up, having extra games around with varying player counts helps when deciding what to play. Looking forward to seeing you at our next event!! PLEASE RSVP if you are coming, cheers!!

Sip & Read: *Founder Edition* Meetup: "The 5AM Club" by Robin Sharma
Calling all founders, CEOs, lawyers, doctors, and entrepreneurs to join our special *Founder Edition* of Sip & Read meetup event. Let's sip on fine wine and discuss our first book **The 5AM Club- Own Your Morning Elevate Your Life, by Robin Sharma**. We will pair this book with our favorite wine at **Wine on High** and engage in thought-provoking discussions on startup businesses and entrepreneurship, and network with like-minded individuals in a cozy book club setting. *The 5AM Club* by Robin Sharma explores how waking up early and following a structured morning routine can dramatically improve productivity, mindset, and overall life mastery. Through a blend of storytelling and practical frameworks, it teaches high performers how to build discipline, focus, and long-term success by owning the first hour of the day. Come prepared to discuss this month's book. At the end of each book club meeting, we will take next book and venue suggestions from the participants for the next meeting. Whether you are a book lover, women entrepreneur, or a content creator, this event is perfect for sharing ideas and insights with other funders and founders in the entrepreneurial world. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to connect, learn, and grow together. Sign up now to reserve your spot! *Fun fact! This meetup was established in 2015 and had over 1,000 members. Software ate the world, Agents are eating Software Engineering
Software ate the world, Agents are eating Software Engineering
2026 may be the last year many developers write code by hand. We need coding agents to solve complex problems in production codebases, but vibe coding alone won’t get us there. Vibe coding is all gas, no brakes. It burns up the context window until the agent slips on its own slop. You can go fast at first, but the more you stuff into the context window, the more tangled its outputs get. While the industry is rapidly increasing code generation speed, we still have to understand, review, merge, and maintain what gets shipped. This talk featuring Michael Geiger will outline how coding agents (Claude Code + Gas Town) work and a framework for orchestrating them to solve complicated problems in complex codebases. It’s about steering the model: doing the research to align intent, planning the approach up front, implementing in parallel steps, and breaking early. Human judgment still matters, but it should be spent on high-leverage decisions: what to build, what to forbid, and “what is quality?”, not cleaning up slop. Attendees will leave with a checklist to identify workflow and environment gaps that hold agents back, so you and your team can ship higher-quality software starting tomorrow.

Intro to GitHub Copilot: Your AI Pair Programmer - Chris Steele
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 **Abstract** GitHub Copilot is rapidly changing how developers write, understand, and maintain code. Powered by generative AI and deeply integrated into modern development environments, Copilot acts as an intelligent coding assistant, helping developers move faster while maintaining quality and focus. In this session, we’ll explore what GitHub Copilot is, how it works, and where it fits into a real-world developer workflow. We’ll break down what Copilot can (and cannot) do, where it can be used, and how licensing differs for individuals and organizations. Most importantly, this talk goes beyond theory with a live, hands-on demo showcasing Copilot inside the IDE and on GitHub, demonstrating how it can assist with code generation, refactoring, learning new APIs, and accelerating day-to-day development tasks. Designed for developers, technical leads, and engineering managers, this session provides a practical introduction to AI-assisted development, highlights best practices for getting value from Copilot, and closes with guidance on how to continue learning and evolving alongside this rapidly advancing tool. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how GitHub Copilot can enhance productivity, improve developer experience, and fit into modern software teams today, not someday. **YouTube Link** TBA
