A welfare state takes responsibility for its people and supports them when in need. When costs are rising, but budgets aren’t, government needs to find efficiency gains to maintain social protection levels. A government-commissioned report recently recommended ways to modernise social and welfare services, making them more people-friendly and less bureaucratic. Meanwhile, small and large projects are underway to make benefits services more fair and easier to navigate, and to make the state overall more equitable. At our March meetup, we will hear about what a modern, digitally transformed welfare state looks like. An *electric* atmosphere featuring visiting pros and some of the best comedians in Berlin at the city's longest-running weekly show. There's no such thing as a bad Chuckleheads; it's as consistent as it gets. Come and find out why we have more regulars than any comedy show in Berlin. The right mix of lively yet laid-back energy in an intimate setting, with well-curated line ups. Chuckleheads is primarily for experienced comedians, though depending on the week we might have a spot for a newbie or two. Doors: 8:00 pm Showtime: 8:30 pm RESERVATIONS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We got limited seating. Book the amount of seats you need with your name and we'll have them ready for you. A four year running tradition: We meet near S Treptower Park, walk to Plänterwald and collect wild garlic to make our own Pesto. Der **Wunderlauch** (Allium paradoxum), auch **Berliner Bärlauch** genannt, stammt ursprünglich aus dem **Kaukasus** und wurde als Zier- oder Nutzpflanze nach Mitteleuropa eingeführt. In Berlin, insbesondere im **Plänterwald**, hat er sich stark ausgebreitet und gilt dort als **invasive Art**. Wir sammeln die Blätter, waschen sie, mörsern sie mit Nüssen und Öl und essen frisches Pesto auf gutem Brot :)

We are going to be seated together at **the big table on the 1st floor** of the cafe. As always, we will do **two sessions of each 45 minutes** of writing with **one break of 15 minutes** in-between. We are making reservation and counting on you to show up, so please register only when you are going to be there, don't forget to update your RSVP if you can't come. Inspired by our successful events like "Saturday Mornings @ East Market" and other "Pot Luck in the Park" lunches, this gathering promises to be a blend of fun conversations, language exchange, and cultural insights, all while sharing wonderful foods with each other. Please bring a dish to share and anything you would like to drink. We will provide plates, plastic silverware and napkins. So, come hungry and ready to chat! Note: Since the weather is unpredictable in April, we have a couple of places in mind for the Pot Luck. We have reserved a room in the Dublin Library from 1-2:30 PM for the meal, if necessary. \* But if the weather is nice on April 12th, we are planning to meet in Bridge Park, possibly in the covered shelter area at 12:00 Noon. We will update the details closer to the date of the Pot Luck but wanted to get this out to everyone so that you can make plans for that day.

We thought of one of the interesting things that can be enjoyed at this time of the year. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM. It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily. I'll try to have signs outside Marian Hall that Identify our group. We hope to have you join us!
