After Work Wednesday's!
Get over the mid week slump and come down to meet some new faces and relax. We try and go to a different bar every week and you can join us anytime after 18:30.
**How to find the group?**
\*We have an area reserved just for us so if you are new and unsure please ask any of the bar staff for the area reserved under the organisers name or if completely lost on the night please contact the event host and they'll come and find you.
**How does it work?**
\*After finding the group either the organiser will approach you and ask if you are looking for the meetup or you can just ask anyone "Is this the meetup?" and normally that is a great conversation opener to join the group. After that it's up to you what you make of the event. That is pretty much it. Easy right? We normally encourage people to stand as it's much easier to mingle that way.
**Nervous about coming to the event?**
\*While it's quite intimidating meeting a bunch of strangers from the internet we are a very welcoming group. We normally look out for new people and remember that everyone in the group has been new in the group at one point. If are you'd like extra help just contact the event host on the night.
**Interested in helping out?**
\*Let me (Éamonn) know as it would be greatly appreciated.
**Something happened?**
\*Please report it to the organiser as we cannot do anything to prevent it from happening again if we don't know about it. Even if it's something small please let the organiser know as they are probably unaware.
We aim to have the location up by Monday afternoon before the event. The bars we go to are all based in the city centre.
**See you on Wednesday!**

Our aim is to create a friendly, sociable and safe way for people to meet and discuss Korean and Irish culture. If you been made to feel uncomfortable or have seen inappropriate behaviour at a meet up then please contact one of our organisers in confidence.
As the Covid is still around please only come if you're feeling well.

*DART/Irish Rail* \- Dublin Connolly is probably the easiest station for most people\, but the Docklands station is also close

Meetup details below:

\*RSVP ESSENTIAL!!!! PLEASE DO RSVP!!!!
\*Bring your ID if you're lucky enough to look under 25! ;)
\*There's no admission fee for our meetup however, you'll be kindly asked to purchase at least 1 drink after your arrival. As you could probably imagine, it's not so easy to book such a big place on a Friday evening in Dublin city centre and your cooperation in this will greatly help us to secure the place for our future gatherings.
\*Take good care of your own belongings and do not consume more alcohol than you can handle, Meetup organisers nor venue management do not hold any responsibilities on lost items before/during or after the meetup.
Hope to see you all there! :)
The Jam: The Great Unknown — Circle Session ⭕️🌌
**Step into the circle and embrace the mystery!**
On **Thursday, 26th March**, we are gathering at the Signal Arts Centre for our second **Circle Session** of the month. We’re ditching the stage and sitting together on floor level to create an intimate, organic space where everyone is part of the music and the magic.
### 🎸 The Vibe: Join the Jam
We’re all about that "jam feel" at these sessions!
* **Collaborate:** If you’re playing a song, we ask that you share the **chords and the key** with the group so others can jump in and play along.
* **Rhythm for All:** Don’t have an instrument? We’ve got **shakers** ready for anyone who wants to add to the beat.
### ✨ The Theme: The Great Unknown 🚀
Whether it’s a song about a new adventure, a story about a leap of faith, or a poem about things we can’t quite explain—we want to hear your take on the unknown.
> **Pro Tip:** The theme is just for inspiration! If you have a piece that doesn't fit the vibe, bring it anyway. It’s not important to stick to it!
### 🎤 Poets, Comics & Storytellers
The circle isn't just for the music! We love a mix of all calibres. Whether you have a five-minute bit, a spoken word piece, or a tall tale to tell, this supportive, low-pressure environment is the perfect place to share it.
***
### 📍 The Essentials:
* ⏰ **Time:** Doors at 8:00 PM \| Finish at 11:30 PM
* 📍 **Where:** Signal Arts Centre, Albert Walk, Bray
* 💰 **Entry:** €5 (+ €10 for BYOB)
* ☕ **Perks:** Free tea and coffee provided
No stage, no barriers—just good people and great vibes. See you in the circle! 🍓⭕️

Let’s play… Mothership/Ultimate Hidden Truth of the World/Tales from the Loop
Join us every Sunday and tell a story as a group by playing a beginner-friendly roleplaying game. Every week we have 2-3 different games. All materials provided and rules are explained at the start of each game, you just need to bring your imagination.
🎭 **This week's facilitators:**
* 🧑🚀 **Axel** with more sci-fi survival horror in *[Mothership](https://www.tuesdayknightgames.com/pages/mothership-rpg)*. In the Vagnerov Outback, at the fringes of known space, the freelance contractors of Spinward Solutions have been contracted to provide security and technical support for an archaeological dig on the New Moravia colony… But will they survive The Mountains of Mania?
* 🏘️ **Silvia** with *The Ultimate Hidden Truth of the World* \- a story\-focused\, rules\-light mashup of *The Quiet Year* and *FATE*, with a postapocalyptic hopepunk setting inspired by *The Year Without Sunshine* by Naomi Kritizer. The grid has gone dark. The internet is down. The delivery trucks have stopped arriving. But your little community is thriving. Play through four seasons of building something together at the end of the world.
* 🙊 **Filip** with a zero-stress *[Tales from the Loop](https://freeleaguepublishing.com/games/tales-from-the-loop-rpg/)* one-shot. Grab your walkie-talkies and lace up your Converse - we'll be playing "Great Bubblegum Crisis". Think *The Goonies* and *Stranger Things* as Saturday morning cartoons. You'll play as a tight-knit group of 80s kids trying to save the Friday Night Roller Disco from a spacesuit-wearing monkey armed with anti-gravity bubblegum.

This group is all about hosting a monthly in-person book club right here in Dublin City!
If you're into the book we're reading and want to chat about it with others, this is the perfect spot for you. We'll meet for about 1-2 hours, enjoy some drinks and/or food, and dive into the book of the month—sharing our thoughts, exploring themes, and swapping recommendations for future reads.
We suggest a €2 voluntary contribution per person to help cover MeetUp fees (cash or Revolut works). See you there!

Using Philosophy to Cope with Current Events
So this month's prompt is more general. I think we can all agree that we are living in "unique" times that require coping skills. I think that one role and/or purpose of philosophy is to help us deal with our daily lives and our "unique" times. So, let's share our feelings and thoughts about which philosopher/philosophy we turn to in order to deal with our crazy events. Who/what helps you stay focused in your daily life and helps you sleep at night. I find that Stoicism with a little philosophical pessimism mixed in goes a long way in helping me deal with what I see as very destructive, fearful and mean spirited public policies at both the state and federal levels. Hope to see you on March 28th!
Discount Tuesday: THEY WILL KILL YOU at the Gateway Film Center!
Join us as we get together for a Discount Tuesday / Choose Your Movie event to see your choice of two great films! Option 1 is the dark comedy/drama based on a true story TOW! The film stars Rose Byrne as a homeless Seattle woman how battles a towing company. Option 2 is the off-the-rails, over-the-top, action-comedy-horror THEY WILL KILL YOU! The film stars Zazie Beetz as a woman who answers a help wanted ad to be a housekeeper in a mysterious New York City high-rise not knowing its mysterious past! Here are details, trailers and our plan for this event:
TOW: This dark comedy/drama is based on a true story and follows a homeless Seattle woman who fights her way out of "tow-company hell" to reclaim the car that had held her life together after receiving a tow bill for $21,634. The film stars Rose Byrne, Ariana DeBose, Demi Lovato, Octavia Spencer, Dominic Sessa, Elsie Fisher and Simon Rex! The film premiered to solid reviews at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival where critics declared, “TOW is a winner!” It’s “a story of perseverance, heart, and real fight, the kind of small human story we see less frequently these days, but need now more than ever.” TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdkpcsuPAhA
THEY WILL KILL YOU: A woman takes a job as a housekeeper in a NYC high-rise, unaware of the building's history of disappearances. She soon realizes the community is shrouded in mystery. The film is directed by Kirill Sokolov and Zadie Beetz, Myha'la, Paterson Joseph, Tom Felton, Heather Graham, and Patricia Arquette. The film is being released immediately following its premiere at this year’s SXSW Festival earlier this month. Early reviews say it’s “an adrenaline rush of action-packed fights, tons of blood and gore and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments” and a movie that’s “unafraid to march to its own campy, violent, and clever little drummer!” TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYqQPiXpi4w
PLAN: Not exactly a “Choose Your Movie” event, more like an early show and a late one (or both if you’re feeling sparky)!
\* If you’d like to see TOW, please purchase your ticket for the 5:00pm showing and meet in the upstairs lobby between 4:40 and 4:50pm!
\* If you plan to see THEY WILL KILL YOU, please purchase your ticket for the 7:45pm showing and meet in the upstairs lobby between 7:25 and 7:35pm!
\* Tickets for both films on sale now and advance purchase is advised! Tickets just $5.00 ($6.50 after online fees when purchased via the GFC website). Once you have yours, please list your movie of choice and seat number in the Comments section of this event.
\* Also, as a reminder, close, convenient parking available in the nearby garage (Between 9th and 11th, just off High) and just $2 when you have your ticket validated at the theater!
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
Contra dance with Big Scioty April 11 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
**Caller: Kim Thompson**
**Band: Full Moon Country Dance Orchestra**
**Clinton Heights Lutheran Church**
**15 Clinton Heights Ave, Columbus, OH 43202**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/)
Please bring your own refillable water bottle.

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
