**Host's Philosophy on This Event:**
The purpose of this meetup is to create a fun and supportive environment where we can improve our skills, enjoy competitive games, and connect socially. While we do aim to play seriously and challenge ourselves, the focus is more on growth and enjoyment than simply winning at all costs. That’s why the title doesn’t include “competitive” or “social”—we want a healthy mix of both. We do expect a mindset geared toward learning and getting better over time. That said, this event isn’t intended for total beginners; an understanding of the game is expected so that everyone can contribute to meaningful and engaging matches. The host holds the right to remove you from the game if they believe that you are at a C level (absolute beginner). If you can't pass to the setter, for example, you are a beginner.
**Skill Level:**
1. **If you want to know your level, please see the link below:**

**YouTube:**
The games may be recorded and uploaded to our channel here:

**ATTENDANCE:**
**Player Selection:** Regulars > Your Vibe > Skills > \*Flaky-ratio (your attendance ratio) > New Members
\*If you have attended 3 events and dropped 6, you may or may not be invited. Anyone with a flaky ratio of -.50 or lower.
If you have a recent no-show, you may not be invited.
The host takes attendance very seriously. Please remove yourself from the event (if you can't make it) as early as possible to allow others to join. You will be marked as a ***no-show*** if you don't show up to the event.
[Smiley Social Rules](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HrG35p_0M08leRvCp8XWG3CMkr_GL928XFabl5T6Dvg/edit)
**Q&A**
*-Bringing your dog or cat is welcome and encouraged.*
-Can I come if I don't know how to play? \*No, you may not. The host does teach a beginner's volleyball class that you may attend on Saturdays.
-Can I be late or leave early? *The host expects you to be there **on time** and leave on time. If you need to come late or leave early, please let the host know ahead of time.*
-Can I come even if I am not on the going list? \*No, sorry
-How can I improve my flaky ratio? *You can attend other Smiley events. Commit to showing up.*
-Why are new members accepted last? *Because they are the most flaky.*
-NO SMOKING (anything)
-Please don't sign up to 2 events happening at the same time. You will need to drop one and it's rude to the organizer.

Machine Learning for Reliable Quantum Computing: An Algorithm–Hardware
Date: June 7 2026 Sunday 10:00 am - Noon EDT
Full title: Machine Learning for Reliable Quantum Computing: An Algorithm–Hardware Co-Design Perspective
Summary: Reliable quantum computing requires co-design across the full stack, including algorithm structure, compilation, and execution, rather than isolated optimization of any single layer. This talk presents a unified framework in which these layers are jointly optimized under realistic hardware constraints. Structure-aware compilation exploits algorithmic interaction graphs to reduce circuit depth; joint optimization across mapping, term ordering, and algorithm parameters yields significantly improved success probability; and execution-layer analysis reveals that error mitigation effectiveness depends critically on circuit symmetry and native gate choice. While demonstrated on superconducting quantum processors, the underlying co-design principles are potentially transferable across architectures. Building on this foundation, the talk highlights machine learning as the key enabler for closing the feedback loop: data-efficient, parameterized noise models learned directly from workload execution data achieve substantially improved predictive fidelity over vendor models without the overhead of dedicated characterization. These insights situate the co-design perspective within the emerging framework of quantum deep learning. In this broader setting, the talk also presents an operational definition, a unifying taxonomy, and a benchmarking protocol grounded in explicit resource contracts.
Speaker: Dr. Yanjun Ji has an interdisciplinary research background in Physics and Computer Science. In 2020, she completed my Master's degree in Theoretical Physics at Saarland University. In 2024, she earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Stuttgart. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Forschungszentrum Jülich. She is committed to interdisciplinary research at the cutting-edge convergence of quantum computing and artificial intelligence. Her research encompasses both foundational theoretical investigations and the development of practical applications, aiming to serve society and benefit humanity.

Lamia sets off on a picaresque journey to beg, borrow, or steal the ingredients she needs, in the process meeting a cross-section of her countries’ population, all of whom are trying their best to make the best of difficult times. “The President's Cake offers an astute, poignant story of empathy for humanity caught in the crosshairs,” writes Diane Carson for the Alliance of Women Film Journalists.
Directed by: Hasan Hadi. Countries: Iraq, Qatar, United States. Released: 2025. Length: 105 min. Format: DCP. Language: Arabic (Iraqi Dialect) with English subtitles.

COhPy Monthly Meeting
**Improving Office in Franklinton**
Physical location:
Improving Office
330 Rush Alley Suite #150
Columbus, OH 43215
Schedule:
6:00 p.m.: Socialize, eat, and drink. Improving will be providing pizza and beverages.
6:30 to 8:00 pm. Main meeting and presentation(s).
Topic: In this session, we will explore the concept of hyperdimensional computing (HDC), a brain-inspired method of computing. We'll begin by talking about neurons and the brain. Through simple Python examples we’ll dive into HDC and answer: What it is? How does it work? And, how does it learn? We will review how other researchers have applied HDC and demonstrate how it can be used for solving cybersecurity tasks. Where deep learning fails, HDC excels. No supercomputer? No problem. HDC offers interpretability, low energy requirements, robustness to errors, online learning, on-device learning, and more. By pushing the difficult calculations into the embedding process, learning becomes a cinch. By the end of this talk, attendees will have everything they need to teach their own hyperdimensional computing models.
We meet on the last Monday of each Month. Presentations are given by members and friends of this group. If you would like to do a presentation (small or large) on a python topic, please contact Central OH Python at centralohpython@gmail.com

Take Control Of Your Life, Freedom From Negative Thoughts & Irrational Emotions
Feeling down? Sometimes depressed? Can't focus? Negativity & stress? Recent losses? Creativity in career and personal life hindered by mental blocks? Sometimes we never fully recover from traumatic experiences.
Whether it was yesterday, last week or a year ago, traumatic experiences - a loss of a loved one, losing a job, a breakup - can leave you scarred. You talk about it and feel a little better, but it never goes away. After you hang up the phone, it's still there; the sadness, the cloud, the over-thinking, the worry, the guilt. You try to focus, but you're blocked. You try to look forward into new experiences, new relationships but a cloud is hanging over you, casting a shadow on what you once considered a bright, cheerful future.
What happened to your courage? Your strength of character? You're 'why not' attitude? Whoever said 'time heals' must have had a special time machine, because after weeks, months, years, you're wondering - when exactly does that kick in? Sometimes it seems like drinking or drugs are the way to go. But they wear off, and now the problem is still there with added side effects from the drugs.
At this free local Meetup event we will talk about:
* What causes grief, anxiety and depression to become chronic.
* Is it possible to regain your joy and happiness even after traumatic experiences?
* How to break away from negativity and focus on the future
* What are the steps to take to get control of your mind and your emotions?
Learn about a safe, gentle, do-it-yourself counseling that can be done in the comfort of your own home.
Let's explore safe, effective solutions for healing from traumatic experiences.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to the event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center.
